Technological Based Rehabilitation on Individuals With Rheumatic Disease

Affects such as pain, swelling, tenderness, deformities, limitations, strength and function losses, skill and coordination deficiencies in the hand joints, which are frequently seen in rheumatism patients with hand involvement, are included in body structure and function disorders within the framework of International Classification of Function System. Leap Motion Controller is used in hand rehabilitation because it is small in size, low-cost, portable, non-contact, easy to use and provides visual and auditory feedback. The aim of our study is to examine the effect of technology-based rehabilitation on joint range of motion, grip strength, functionality and disease activity in adult individuals with rheumatic disease with hand involvement; and also to compare these effects with the effects of the hand rehabilitation program implemented under the guidance of a physiotherapist and the control group that continues its routine life.

The Effect of Motor Image Training on Balance Performance in Geriatric Individuals

The goal of this study [type of study: clinical trial] is to was planned to investigate the effect of motor imagery training given to geriatric individuals with action observation on their balance performance and to compare these two methods. The main questions it aims to answer are: 1. Is virtual reality-based balance training given together with action observation and motor imagery for six weeks in geriatric individuals more effective in improving static balance than virtual reality-based balance training given alone? 2. Is virtual reality-based balance training given together with action observation and motor imagery for six weeks in geriatric individuals more effective in improving dynamic balance than virtual reality-based balance training given alone? 3. Is virtual reality-based balance training given together with motor imagery for six weeks in geriatric individuals more effective in increasing balance confidence than virtual reality-based balance training given alone? 46 geriatric individuals will be randomized into 2 groups. Along with action observation, motor imagery training and virtual reality-based balance training will be given to the study group. On the other hand, only virtual reality-based balance training will be given to the control group. All assessments will be repeated before and after the trainings. The trainings will be applied 2 days a week for 6 weeks. Each training session; 25 minutes for the control group and 45 minutes for the study group.

Effectiveness of Hypnosis Via Virtual Reality During Oocyte Retrieval

This study compares hypnosis via virtual reality to sedation with commonly used intravenous anesthetic agents (propofol and remifentanil) during oocyte retrieval. The main objective of this prospective randomized controlled study will be a reduction of 50 percent of the doses of remifentanil and propofol administered during oocyte retrieval while maintaining satisfaction with the quality of care.

Scientific literature supports that teachers are at greater risk for voice disorders than the general population. In the classroom, the teacher's voice represents the main communication tool. Optimal voice use is indispensable to ensure effective teaching and preserve the teacher's vocal health. This project investigates how virtual reality (VR) facilitates the learning of effective vocal skills and their application in real-world contexts. Based on acoustic analyses and self-assessment scales, the investigators compare 100 future teachers randomly assigned in two groups. The experimental group (n=50) receives a voice training by VR simulations and voice information. The control group (n=50) only receives voice information.

Virtual Reality for Parkinson's Disease

Parkinson's Disease (PD) is one of the most common neurodegenerative disease. Bradykinesia, tremor, resting tremor and postural instability are the main motor characteristics of this disease. As the disease progresses, mobility, walking, balance are reducing, the risk of falls is increasing and patients become functionally dependent. Along with these symptoms, cognitive functions are also disturbed. The most commonly distorted cognitive functions are executive functions such as planning and reasoning, working memory, episodic memory, attention and visual-spatial skills. Pharmacological and surgical treatments are used in Parkinson's disease. Pharmacologic treatment has a proven effect on motor symptoms, but since there is no approved pharmacologic treatment which has a direct effect on cognitive functions, recent studies suggest non-pharmacological treatments to improve cognitive function. Physiotherapy is also accepted among non-pharmacological treatments. Conventional physiotherapy focuses on optimizing patient independence and safety, focusing on hinting strategies, cognitive movement strategies and exercises utilizing transfers, posture, upper extremity function, balance (and falls), gait, physical capacity and (in)activity. Virtual Reality (VR) technology, a promising commonly used new rehabilitation tool, is a treatment method that can be used as one of the non-pharmacological treatment methods in Parkinson's Disease. In order to understand how neuronal network dysfunction in the Parkinson's Disease leads to clinical symptoms, both the component elements and the interconnections within these networks need to be examined in greater detail. Studies of resting state-fMRI (rs-fMRI) use correlation of activation of brain regions and time series fluctuations between brain regions to give information about connectivity in brain. The purpose of this study is to investigate the therapeutic effects of virtual reality on motor and cognitive symptoms of PD. Furthermore, the investigation of possible effects of this effect on neuroplasticity through functional brain networks is our other objective. This study will be the first study to evaluate the plasticity effect of virtual reality application with rs-fMRI in Parkinson's disease.
