Feasibility Study of the Self-Care Immediate Stabilization Procedure (ISP) ® After a Traumatic Experience

Start date: April 2024
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The study aims to assess the feasibility of an online intervention platform based on the Immediate Stabilization Procedure (ISP®). This intervention targets early trauma reactions, aiming to reduce the risk of future PTSD.

NCT ID: NCT06273527 Not yet recruiting - Depression Clinical Trials

Enhancing Transdiagnostic Mechanisms of Cognitive Dyscontrol (R33)

Start date: October 1, 2024
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The proposed project aims to test the cognitive and neural effects of a cognitive training in a sample of individuals seeking treatment for anxiety, depression, or traumatic stress symptoms. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of two groups. Group 1 will receive a computer-based program that is designed as a cognitive training intervention and Group 2 will receive a similar computer-based exercise that researchers think will be less effective in training thinking skills (also known as a control or sham condition). Participants will be compared on cognitive performance and brain response during cognitive tasks from baseline to post-treatment.

NCT ID: NCT06233968 Not yet recruiting - Clinical trials for Posttraumatic Stress Disorder

Using Data Science To Center Patient Perspectives in Mechanism Discovery

CPP
Start date: February 29, 2024
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Including patient perspectives when developing new therapy interventions is crucial because it can help to understand response heterogeneity and promote engagement. Yet, analyzing patient interview data is difficult and time-consuming. This study aims to explore the potential for natural language processing and deep learning to analyze patient interviews and identify potential ways in which therapy leads to psychological change. This study will recruit participants from an existing clinical service that offers a 16-week online group therapy model (and adjunct individual therapy sessions) called Program for Alleviating and Resolving Trauma and Stress (PARTS) based on a therapy called Internal Family Systems (IFS). The investigators will use a mixed methods approach, applying natural language processing and deep learning to develop models that identify potential mechanisms of change. These models will be based on patient perspectives of psychological change, as expressed in interviews, and be compared to models based on clinical measures.

NCT ID: NCT06230887 Not yet recruiting - Clinical trials for Moral Injury Syndrome

Implementation of Innovative Treatment for Moral Injury Syndrome: A Hybrid Type 2 Study

Start date: August 1, 2024
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Moral Injury Syndrome (MIS) affects up to 35-60% of Veterans managing combat-related PTSD; it results from experiences that challenge deeply held values or spiritual beliefs. Symptoms of MIS may include hopelessness, helplessness, loss of spiritual beliefs, difficulty with forgiveness, loss of meaning or purpose, reduced trust in self or others, or intractable guilt, shame or anger. Veterans managing MIS have difficulty responding to mental health treatment, and are at increased risk for suicide ideation or attempts. To date evidence-based interventions for MIS are not widely available in VA. This study will implement an evidence-based intervention for MIS in four VA facilities, collect data on the effectiveness of the intervention, and develop an implementation toolkit. This data will inform national dissemination in collaboration with the Office of Mental Health and Suicide Prevention and the National Chaplain Service.

NCT ID: NCT06228391 Not yet recruiting - Clinical trials for Major Depressive Disorder

Ketamine Treatment for PTSD and MDD in TBI

Start date: March 2024
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

The goal of this clinical trial is to examine the use of sedative ketamine to treat depression and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in Veterans with mild to moderate traumatic brain injury (TBI). The main questions it aims to answer are: - Efficacy of ketamine to reduce symptoms of depression and/or PTSD - Safety of ketamine to treat depression and/or PTSD in TBI Participants will be randomly assigned to receive either ketamine or midazolam (active placebo) twice a week for 3 weeks. During participation, subjects will be interviewed, have lab tests, and complete rating scales, and questionnaires.

NCT ID: NCT06222268 Not yet recruiting - PTSD Clinical Trials

Wayne State Warriors Marijuana Clinical Research Program: Cannabinoid Adjunct to Prolonged Exposure & Recovery

CAPER
Start date: August 2024
Phase: Phase 1
Study type: Interventional

The overall strategy is to recruit veterans with PTSD who report minimal current cannabis use but are interested in or considering therapeutic cannabis to manage mental health symptoms (anxiety, depression, PTSD and/or suicidality). The information gained from this study could lead to the development of new treatments for persons who suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder and maintain better mental health.

NCT ID: NCT06221865 Not yet recruiting - Clinical trials for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder

Study of the Correlation Between Post-traumatic Stress Disorder and Paradoxical Sleep Behavior Disorder

TRAUMA-TCSP
Start date: January 15, 2024
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder is a psychiatric disorder that occurs after a traumatic event and is estimated to affect 5 to 12% of the general population. Around 70% of patients suffering from this disorder report sleep disorders (sleep apnea, insomnia, recurring nightmares, etc.). There are specific sleep disorders called Rapid Eye Movement (REM) sleep behavior disorders which correspond to nocturnal restlessness with sometimes violent behavior, often associated with intense dreams during a phase of sleep called REM sleep. These disorders are more frequently found in patients suffering from post-traumatic stress, such as veterans. However, the physiopathological link between these two disorders is poorly understood and studies on this subject are few in number. Through this study, the investigators wish to demonstrate whether there is a correlation between the severity of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and that of Rapid Eye Movement sleep behavior disorder. The main objective is to study the relationship between the severity of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and the Rapid Eye Movement (REM) Sleep Behavior Disorder. This is an observational prospective study based on 4 questionnaires relating to the sleep (PSQI), the severity of the Rapid Eye Movement (REM) Sleep Behavior Disorder (REM RBDSQ, IRBD-SSS) and the severity of the Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PCL-5).

NCT ID: NCT06219408 Not yet recruiting - Chronic Pain Clinical Trials

Study type: Interventional

The current study is a pilot RCT of a CIH stepped approach to care.

NCT ID: NCT06215313 Not yet recruiting - Depression Clinical Trials

EMDR Versus Imagery Rescripting for Trauma-Related Intrusions

Start date: March 2024
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The goal of this clinical trial is to investigate the effectiveness and mechanisms of action of trauma treatments in a sample of patients meeting criteria for posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), unipolar depression, or both disorders. The main questions it aims to answer are: - which first line treatment (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing [EMDR] vs. Imaginary Rescripting [IR]) works better for intrusive experiences in patients with PTSD, patients with a depression, and patients who meet criteria for both diagnoses. - which mechanisms of action cause the treatment effects. Participants will - be randomly assigned to a standard treatment of EMDR or IR - complete daily questionnaires measuring the outcome measures two weeks before the start of their treatment, during their EMDR or IR treatment, and for one month after their treatment. - complete questionnaires measuring the outcome measures and secondary outcome measures at pre-intervention, post-treatment (i.e., 4 weeks after the last intervention session, at the end of the withdrawal phase), and at 6-month follow-up.
