Filter by:Purpose: 1. To demonstrate better symptoms control (pain, urinary urgency and frequency) with sacral neuromodulation (SNM) in patients with interstitial cystitis /painful bladder syndrome (IC/PBS) using a stimulation frequency of 40 hertz (experimental) compared to a frequency of 14 hertz (standard). 2. The evaluate the efficacy of the two frequency settings on the other associated conditions that often coexist in patients with IC/PBS, such as female sexual dysfunction (FSD), bowel dysfunction, high tone pelvic floor dysfunction (HTPFD, painful spasm of the pelvic floor muscles), Vulvodynia (pain at the opening of the vagina).
This randomized, active controlled study aimed to compare the effects on sexual function of treatment with combined antihypertensive drugs. The researchers hypothesize that: 1. Both felodipine-irbesartan combination and felodipine-metoprolol combination are effective in lowing blood pressure in patients with essential hypertension. 2. Felodipine-metoprolol combination induces a worse sexual function and a reduction of sex hormone, whereas felodipine-irbesartan combination does not impair sexual function and does not change hormone levels. 3. Oxidative stress decline after both combination regimens. Felodipine-irbesartan combination has a greater impact on oxidative stress indicators than felodipine-metoprolol combination.
RATIONALE: High-intensity focused ultrasound focal ablation uses high-energy sound waves to kill tumor cells. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying the side effects of high-intensity focused ultrasound focal ablation and to see how well it works in treating patients with progressive prostate cancer.
Sildenafil has been shown to aggravate sleep-disordered breathing in patients with severe obstructive sleep apnea. The aim of the present study is to examine the frequency of sleep-disordered breathing in obese patients who are candidates for treatment with sildenafil for sexual dysfunction. In addition we wish to assess the effect of sildenafil on sleep-disordered breathing.
RATIONALE: Treatment for pediatric extracranial germ cell tumors may cause side effects and secondary cancers later in life. A study that evaluates patients after receiving combination chemotherapy or surgery may help doctors understand the side effects and secondary cancers that occur later in life. PURPOSE: This study is looking at treatment outcome and quality of life in patients with pediatric extracranial germ cell tumors previously treated on clinical trial CCLG-GC-1979-01 or CCLG-GC-1989-01.
