Filter by:Self-esteem and family functioning are associated with mental health and success of drug treatment among individuals with substance use disorders (SUD). The Satir model aims to empower individuals to explore their internal resources, address emotional issues, shift coping strategies, enhancing self-esteem, and develop healthier ways of relating to themselves and others. It offers a range of techniques to enhance self-esteem, challenging negative belief systems, and promote personal growth. The aim of the study is to investigate the acceptability and preliminary efficacy of the Satir model on self-esteem, mental health, and family function among individuals with SUD in China. The study will adopt a mixed-method approach. The quantitative phase will employ a randomized control trial (RCT) utilizing a pre-post study design. The qualitative phase will involve conducting semi-structured individual interviews.The data will be analyzed by using SPSS software package (IBM SPSS statistics version 26.0). The individual-interview will be analyzed by using the six-phase thematic analysis. The study has the potential to advance knowledge in the field of drug rehabilitation interventions, inform evidence-based practice, and improve the wellbeing and outcomes of individual with SUD. It can contribute to the ongoing efforts to address the complex challenges associated with substance use and support individual on their trajectory to recovery.
This is a clinical trial to assess the effect of a neuropsychosocial intervention by means of telecare aimed at children and adolescents aged 7-16 years with neuromuscular diseases. The intervention is carried out in groups of 5 participants and is organised in 12 sessions: 1 session per week of 1h duration. The intervention is aimed at strengthening aspects of social cognition, self-esteem, social skills and aims at a reduction of symptomatology and a general improvement of psychological well-being.
From the last decades, applied approach for the use of augmented reality on clinical and health psychology has grown exponentially. Hence, the present study is aimed to examine the effectiveness of augmented reality for the treatment of borderline personality features in young adults. For the purpose, it is hypothesized that (i) borderline personality features of experimental groups will be reduced in posttest followed by the integration of augmented reality in expressive art therapy (ii) Borderline personality features of experimental group will decrease significantly as compared to control group in the post test followed by the integration of augmented reality in expressive art therapy (iii) Borderline personality feature of self-destruction will be reduced in posttest followed by the integration of augmented reality in expressive art therapy (iv) Borderline personality feature of affect regulation will be reduced in posttest followed by the integration of augmented reality in expressive art therapy and (v) Borderline personality feature of negative self-perception will be reduced in posttest followed by the integration of augmented reality in expressive art therapy. For the present purpose, a total of 20 subjects experiencing symptoms of Borderline personality features will be screened and recruited from the Umeed e Nau clinics of the Institute of Professional Psychology Bahria University Karachi Campus by initial screening of the subjects. Participants will be monitored through pre and post-screening of Borderline Symptoms Checklist assigned to an experimental (treatment group) and control (waiting list) group using convenient sampling. The experimental group will receive the Management plan; which will be comprised of total 14 sessions. The effectiveness of the intervention plan will be measured via quantitative measure (the latest version of SPSS).
The sociocultural pressure towards women's body image is one of the problems that today afflicts much of the female population. It is a reality that society exerts a strong pressure on body image, particularly on women. The main objective of this study is to analyze the self-perception and self-esteem of people who apply a facial cosmetic. A convenience sample of 150 participants is estimated, who can be randomly included in one of the three groups with different interventions.
In post-menopause, most women gain weight, and obesity rates are more prevalent in this particular group. In addition, there is an increased risk of cardiovascular disease, cancer, and diabetes. Given that this weight gain can be related to risk behaviours, healthy weight management (such as an increase in physical activity or healthy eating) is crucial to promote a healthy weight and well-being. The ME-WEL (MEnopause and WEigth Loss) project (ref. SFRH/BD/144525/2019), entails an eHealth intervention for weight management and well-being in post-menopausal women with overweight or obesity, based on two theoretical models of behavioral change - the Health Action Process Approach (HAPA), and the Health Belief Model (HBM), and applying the Behaviour Change Techniques Taxonomy (BCTT). This group's eHealth intervention lasts 8 weeks. Each week there is a different theme to be addressed, taking into account the behavioral change models mechanisms, in articulation with different BCT´s. Subjective well-being, self-esteem, weight loss, implementation of weight management strategies, and changes in eating behavior and physical activity/exercise were evaluated, through follow-ups at 3- and 6- post-intervention.
The purpose of this study will be to examine the effectiveness of an application-based lifestyle change program on body composition, body shape, body, image, and self-esteem in females following a 6-week period. The study will be carried out in a randomized, placebo-controlled, parallel manner. Participants will be stratified into quartiles based on their body mass indices during screening and prior to baseline testing. Participants from each quartile will be randomly divided by into experimental or control conditions. Following randomization, participants will be baseline assessed on their body composition using a whole body Dual Energy X-Ray Absorptiometry scan, on their subjective measures of body shape and image using a variety of questionnaires, blood chemistry panel, and lower-body strength using a isometric mid-thigh pull dynamometer. Following baseline testing, participants will undergo 6-weeks of following their respective condition. Participants will be instructed to follow their group-specific guidelines for the 6-week period to the best of their ability. Body shape and image questionnaires and assessments of body composition, blood chemistry, and lower-body strength will be conducted following the week 6 to conclude the study.
The main goal of this single-arm pre-post intervention study is to see if an adapted mindfulness program can improve emotion regulation among youth aged 15-19 years who attend an alternative school. Participants will complete a baseline survey package using an iPad. They will then receive an adapted version of the 6-session Learning to BREATHE Program as part of a course they are taking at their school. Students will again complete a survey package within 2 weeks of completing the program. The investigator will compare baseline and post-intervention survey responses to see if the program improved emotion regulation, as well as several secondary psychosocial and behavioral outcomes.
Higher rates of depression are reported by autistic adolescents as compared to their non-autistic peers, which is problematic given adverse outcomes (e.g., negative self-esteem, lower academic performance) that are associated with depression. Despite the alarming rates of depression in autistic youth and associated safety concerns, few treatments have been developed. In this study, we investigate the feasibility, acceptability, and preliminary efficacy of an autism-adapted group cognitive-behavioral treatment for autistic adolescents (11-17 years old; middle and high school) in a pilot, nonrandomized trial. Specifically, we aim to increase adolescents' perception and understanding of self, including autistic identity, in order to treat depression. Intervention design and implementation were guided by autistic self-advocates and parents.
The purpose of this study is to explore the effectiveness of the Injeti Self-Esteem Model (ISEM) with a psychoeducational therapy intervention for improving self-esteem among university students. To explore the effectiveness of the ISEM (see Appendix A), investigators are utilizing a mixed method study design to acquire both quantitative and qualitative data to view effectiveness through measurable outcomes and personal experience. The intervention will involve a 1-hour session, which will include administration of the ISEM.
The study will investigate a CBT based treatment approach for low self-esteem among young adults.
