The Efficacy of MC5-A ("Scrambler") Therapy in the Management of Chemotherapy-Induced Peripheral Neuropathy: A Phase II Pilot Trial
RATIONALE: Electronic stimulation using a MC5-A Scrambler may help relieve pain in patients who develop peripheral neuropathy while undergoing chemotherapy treatments for cancer. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying how well MC5-A Scrambler therapy works in reducing peripheral neuropathy caused by chemotherapy.

Restoration of Cutaneous Sensorum in Patients With Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy (DPN) Via Metanx®
The purpose of this research study is to determine if Metanx improves sensory neuropathy in persons with Type 2 diabetes. Metanx is a medical food available with a prescription from a physician. It consists of L-methylfolate, Pyridoxal 5'-phosphate, and Methylcobalamin, which are the active forms of folate, vitamin B6, and vitamin B12, respectively. Subjects will be assigned to receive Metanx for 12 months. Baseline quantitative sensory testing will be done before the patient receives Metanx. Additional quantitative sensory testing will be done at 6 and 12 months to evaluate.

A Multicenter, Randomized, Double-Blind, Placebo-Controlled Study Comparing the Safety and Efficacy of AEG33773 Versus Placebo in Patients With Painful Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy
Two Phase 1 studies have been conducted with AEG33773 and available safety and tolerability data from these studies support further clinical development of AEG33773. The current study is proposed as a proof-of-concept study to assess the potential analgesic efficacy of AEG33773 to reduce pain associated with chronic Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy.

Acupuncture for Chemo-induced Peripheral Neuropathy in Multiple Myeloma and Lymphoma Patients
The goal of this clinical research study is to learn if giving acupuncture to patients with lymphoma or a plasma cell dyscrasia can help to relieve numbness and/or tingling of the feet and/or hands that is related to chemotherapy.

A Double Blind, Placebo Controlled Study of the Effect of 330 mg QD of TRO19622 in the Treatment of Chemotherapy Induced Peripheral Neuropathy
The purpose of this study is to test the effect of TRO19622 on peripheral neuropathy scores after 6 weeks treatment and is based on the separate assessment of pain and dysesthesia scores.

Phase 3 Study to Evaluate Bortezomib Induced Peripheral Neuropathy of Multiple Myeloma (MM) Patients.
In the present study we are planning to study electrophysiological changes related to the dose and time of bortezomib administration in newly diagnosed patients with MM, during the first months of treatment and 6 months after ending. In addition a possible correlation between the incidence of BIPN and the subtype of myeloma and other risk factors will be investigated.

Pilot Randomized Study of Aerobic and Resistance Exercise for Women Undergoing Treatment for Breast Cancer With Taxanes.
Chemotherapy for the treatment of breast cancer can affect nerves and muscles leading to loss of sensation in the hands and feet for feeling hot and cold, difficulty walking, and muscle weakness. This study will explore if exercises such as walking and strength training may prove helpful in preventing or lessening chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy from chemotherapy, making the therapy easier to tolerate and increasing overall quality of life.

Diffusion Tensor Imaging of Sural Nerves in Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy"
This study aims to validate magnetic resonance imaging and diffusion tensor imaging (MRI/ DTI) analysis as a non-invasive method for the assessment of myelinated nerve fibers loss in diabetic peripheral neuropathy.

Patient-Oriented TCM Intervention for DSP in HIV: A Pilot Study
This preliminary study will investigate the use of Acupuncture and Moxibustion (Acu/Moxa) for distal symmetric peripheral neuropathy (DSP) associated with HIV applying traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) evaluations conducted by a diagnostic acupuncturist. The investigators will evaluate the role of Acu/Moxa in reducing the symptoms of DSP related to HIV/AIDS and treatment side effects. The effects of symptom reduction on quality of life will also be examined. This application will establish a proof of principle for the role of Acu/Moxa in the treatment of DSP and provide data that will serve as a foundation for establishing a future larger clinical trial.
