Early Acupuncture Treatment of Vasomotor Symptoms and Sleep Disorders in Breast Cancer Luteinising Hormone-releasing Hormone Analogues(LHRHa) Induced Menopause: AcuHOTFLASH Study
The goal of this clinical trial is to evaluate the impact of acupuncture in preventing worsening of hot flashes and sleep disorders in paucisymptomatic premenopausal Breast Cancer (BC) patients undergoing LHRHa plus endocrine therapy. According to the published data, acupuncture is an effective and long-lasting (6 to 8 months) treatment for severe vasomotor symptoms. Treatment response can be affected by different variables, including intervention timing. The main question this study aims to answer is: Can we expect an additional benefit resulting from an early intervention (when patients are still presymptomatic/paucysintomatic) with acupuncture in preventing worsening in terms of frequency/severity of hot flashes and sleep disorders? Researchers will compare patients randomized in two arms: Arm A: intervention with acupuncture Arm B: usual care to see if acupuncture is superior to usual care in preventing worsening of hot flashes

Clinical Study of Liver Meridian in the Treatment of Male Impotence and Female Premature Ovarian Failure
Erectile dysfunction (ED) is a kind of worldwide and common sexual dysfunction disease, which mainly affects men over forty years old. The clinical characteristics of ED is the inability to maintain sufficient erection to obtain satisfactory sexual intercourse. Age, education, diabetes, stroke, obesity, and hypertension are factors inducing ED. Recent years, the prevalence of ED is rising, and more men aged below forty years old are suffering ED. Published review indicated that the prevalence of ED was 40.56% in Chinese men aged over forty years old. A survey conducted in China suggested that 40.56% men aged over forty years old suffered from ED. Another international survey found that, 21.48% sexually active participants suffered from ED. Several researches demonstrated that, ED affects health and quality of life of patients and partner. Besides, ED induces patients' psychosocial problems, including depression and anxiety, and reduce work efficiency. According to American Urological Association guideline published in 2018, the clinical therapies for ED include phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitor (PDE5i), vacuum erection device, and penile prosthesis implantation. PDE5i (such as sildenafil, vardenafil, and tadalafil) is a first-line drug for ED, recommended by doctors and patients. However, the most common side effects of PDE5i were headache, dyspepsia, flushing, and blurred vision. Furthermore, the ideal dose and type of PDE5i still need to be further studied. The use of PDE5i is restricted by those reasons. Acupuncture is an important role of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), and acupuncture received more concerned recently. The correlation between meridians and viscera is the center of acupuncture scientific problem. Acupoints stimulation can regulate visceral sensation and mobility to treat diseases.

Clinical Study of Liver Meridian in the Treatment of Male Impotence and Female Premature Ovarian Failure
Diminished ovarian reserve (DOR) refers to a decrease in the number and quality of oocytes in the ovary, which results in impaired ovarian function and decreased fertility. Meanwhile, levels of the anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH), antral follicle count (AFC), and Follicle-Stimulating Hormone (FSH) also decrease in patients with DOR. In general, there is a decline in fertility and premature menopause. Some patients will have low menstrual volume, oligomenorrhea or even amenorrhea, abnormal uterine bleeding, ovulation disorders, infertility and perimenopausal performance before the age of 40, and eventually develop into premature ovarian failure. In recent years, with the changes of social culture, living environment, work pressure and other factors, the incidence of this disease has increased year by year, which has a great impact on women's fertility, mental health, quality of life, family relations and other aspects. As a green and safe complementary and alternative therapy, acupuncture has been proved to be effective. According to the statistics, 904 (33.54%) of the 2695 syndromes indicated by acupoints of the liver meridian recorded in 93 ancient medical books are reproductive disorders, ranking first in the diseases indicated by the liver meridian and the 14 meridians. The body surface course of the liver meridian is closely related to the genitals, and there is a close relationship between the liver meridian and the genitals in physiology and pathology. According to the theory of the relationship between meridians and zangfu organs, the study aims to verify the efficacy and safety of acupuncture of the liver meridian and provide high-level research evidence for meridian syndrome differentiation of reproductive system diseases via "treatment from the liver."

Efficacy and Safety of Acupuncture for Blood Pressure Fluctuation During Total Laparoscopic Hysterectomy: a Randomized Controlled, Parallel-grouped Pilot Study
The goal of this pilot clinical trial is to learn about efficacy of acupuncture about blood pressure fluctuation during total laparoscopic hysterectomy in patients with uterine fibroid. Participants will receive two times of acupuncture treatment before surgery and researchers will compare to see if acupuncture treatment would stabilize blood pressure fluctuation especially from induction time to post-incision moment.

The Efficacy and Cerebral Mechanism of Intradermal Acupuncture for Major Depressive Disorder: a Study Protocol for a Randomized Controlled Trial
Major depressive disorder (MDD) is highly prevalent, affecting nearly 4% of the global population. Pharmacotherapy is the frontline treatment recommended by the guideline, but it also has some limitations such as delayed onset, inadequate response, and drug resistance. Intradermal acupuncture (IA) is a method of using short indwelling needles retained under the skin to produce continuous stimulation for long-term efficacy. It has been reported that IA combination medication appears to be more valuable than medication alone in the treatment of MDD, however, there is a lack of high-quality clinical evidence. While several studies have proposed that manual or electroacupuncture can improve MDD symptoms by modulating brain networks, the cerebral mechanism of IA as superficial acupuncture for MDD has not been reported. Hence, investigators designed a multicentre randomized controlled trial to assess the clinical efficacy and safety of IA for MDD and preliminarily explore the potential therapeutic mechanisms for IA by functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) .

Acupuncture for Nasal Congestion in Allergic Rhinitis: An Open-Label, Randomized, Monocenter Trial (ANCAR Trial)
Allergic rhinitis (AR) is a disorder that affects more than 500 million people worldwide. Nasal congestion is one of the most general and bothersome symptoms in rhinitis, which affects the quality of life (QOL). Current medications are undesirable due to their side-effects. Acupuncture for AR in general can be considered as safe and can be seen as a potential therapeutic intervention for nasal congestion. Evidence supported that acupuncture is clinically used for signs and symptoms of nose disorders, such as nasal congestion, with effectiveness, but whether acupuncture has immediate, post-treatment and long-term effects on nasal congestion in AR is not verified by strictly designed clinical study. The ANCAR trial uses a standard treatment protocol with a fixed set of acupuncture points - to be as scientific as possible from Western medical viewpoint - to open the nose and affect underlying energetic imbalance and immunity at the same time, to maintain its nose opening effect. This novel acupuncture treatment protocol can be seen as a solid and profound approach from which every AR patient may benefit.
