Filter by:The aim of this study is to evaluate the treatment response to terlipressin and albumin in patients with suspicion of HRS-AKI and signs of chronic parenchymal kidney disease (HRS-AKI-like syndrome) compared to patients without signs of chronic parenchymal kidney disease (HRS-AKI).
Blood flow to the kidneys is important in the development of kidney diseases. Currently we do not have ways of measuring and monitoring kidney blood flow for patients in real-time. This is a major barrier to investigation and management of acute kidney injury (AKI) and chronic kidney disease (CKD). Kidney blood flow can be reliably measured using a specialised type of MRI scan, but this is expensive and difficult to do in people who are unwell. Contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) is a new technique, which uses a contrast containing microbubbles to measure blood flow. The benefits of this method are that it is relatively inexpensive, the contrast agents are not kidney-damaging and it can be done at the bedside. We want to compare contrast enhanced ultrasound against the current best-measure of kidney blood flow, to see if it is giving accurate information about kidney blood flow. We will do this by doing both MRI and contrast enhanced ultrasound scans in people with chronic kidney disease and comparing the results.
Lupus nephritis (LN) is a common manifestation in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), and is an important cause of acute kidney injury and chronic kidney disease (CKD). Although the standard-of-care treatments for active severe LN are effective, a substantial proportion of LN patients still develop CKD and eventually end-stage kidney disease (ESKD). Cardiovascular complications are common and is a leading cause of death in SLE and LN patients. It is well recognized that LN patients had multiple risk factors for cardiovascular complications such as diabetes mellitus (DM), dyslipidaemia and vascular inflammation. Sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor are initially developed as an oral anti-diabetic agent and has shown to be effective in glycaemic control, has benefits in lipid metabolism, cardiovascular and renal outcomes, and also well tolerated by patients. Various trials have also demonstrated the benefits of SGLT2 inhibitor in the reduction of CKD, ESKD, and renal or cardiovascular death. However, the effect of SGLT2 inhibitor in LN remains unclear. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of SGLT2 on renal outcomes in LN patients with CKD, as well as the side effects, metabolic profiles, immunological functions and disease stability.
Background: Childhood cancer survivors (CCS) are at elevated risk of chronic health conditions. Chemotherapies can cause recurrent acute kidney injury which may progress to kidney fibrosis, chronic kidney disease (CKD) or hypertension (HTN). CCS surviving to adulthood are at ≥3 times the risk (vs. non-CCS) for CKD, HTN and lower quality of life. However, the timing of CKD and HTN onset in CCS completing cancer therapy in childhood remains unclear. Guidelines provide recommendations on managing post-cancer therapy effects in CCS, but they lack specificity on kidney testing content, frequency and complications. This discord is largely due to knowledge gaps on which CCS develop CKD or HTN after cancer therapy, when outcomes occur and their severity. Existing work has shown in select patients, CKD and HTN in CCS likely begins in the first 5 years post-cancer therapy and that the burden is significant. With robust data on CKD and HTN, international CCS follow-up guidelines can be optimized to include detailed and actionable recommendations on kidney and blood pressure monitoring and treatment.
This is a 2-part study evaluating the efficacy and safety of lorundrostat (an aldosterone synthase inhibitor [ASI]) for the treatment of hypertension in subjects with CKD and albuminuria while receiving stable treatment with an angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor (ACEi) or an angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB) either in combination with dapagliflozin, or alone.
The goal of this observational study is to learn about in a total of approximately 2000 patients with cardiovascular disease recruited from about 25 participating sites in China with eGFR<60 ml/min/1.73 m2 and/or UACR>30 mg/g at least twice 3 months apart within the previous 12 months who had been hospitalized in the cardiology department within the previous 12 months. The main questions it aims to answer are: - To estimate the diagnosis rate of CKD in patients with cardiovascular disease and laboratory evidence of CKD - To describe the CKD awareness and treatment pattern in patients with cardiovascular disease and laboratory evidence of CKD. - To describe the socio-demographic and clinical characteristics of CKD in patients with cardiovascular disease and laboratory evidence of CKD Participants will be invited to undergo a baseline visit, and the demographics, lifestyle factors, clinical characteristics, and laboratory tests will be collected.

This study will look if CagriSema can lower kidney damage in people with chronic kidney disease (CKD), type 2 diabetes (T2D) and overweight or obesity. CagriSema is a new investigational medicine. CagriSema cannot yet be prescribed by doctors. The study will compare CagriSema to the 2 medicines semaglutide and cagrilintide, when they are taken alone. It will also compare CagriSema to a "dummy" medicine (also called placebo) without any active ingredient. Participant will either get CagriSema 2.4 mg, semaglutide 2.4 mg, cagrilintide 2.4 mg or placebo. Which treatment participant will get is decided by chance (like flipping a coin). Study doctor will not know which of the study medicines participant will get. For each participant, the study will last for about 35 weeks.
