Filter by:The aim of this study is to verify the influence that participation in a Psychological Support Group has on anxiety, depression and coping skills in patients admitted to the IRCCS San Camillo Hospital. It is therefore an observational study with a pre-post design on a cohort of patients hospitalized at San Camillo IRCCS who attend the Psychological Support Group. The study consists of verifying whether the therapeutic activity of the Psychological Support Group (GSP) has an influence on the levels of anxiety, mood and coping skills in the patients who attend it. These purposes will be pursued through the administration to each patient at the beginning (pre) and at the end (post) of the period of attendance at the GSP, of validated scales: Stay Y2 (anxiety), BDI II(depressive symptoms), COPE NVD 25 (coping strategies) and the CORE-OM (outcomes of psychological activity).
Many programmes exist to enable patients to engage in physical activity, but it is clear that the objectives are often not achieved in terms of quality, quantity or intensity of practice. In this study, the aim is to find alternatives, assuming that strengthening patients' self-efficacy, meeting their basic needs and increasing their level of hope will have an impact on their motivation to practice, which in turn will have an impact on their actual practice. The aim is to develop and implement an innovative intervention programme and to identify the interactions between the variables that are assumed to predict engagement in practice.
This research study is being done to develop an intervention for psychological symptoms that patients diagnosed with cancer may experience. Psychological symptoms may include thoughts, feelings, emotions, and memories The names of the study intervention and research activities involved in this study are/is: - Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) for Cancer (involving 6 sessions with a licensed clinical psychologist) - Questionnaires - Post-study interview Consistent with the NIH Stage Model for Behavioral Intervention Development, the investigators have adapted an existing, empirically-validated intervention, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), to address substance use disorder risk during cancer care. The core components of ACT are particularly well-suited to address the psychological processes underlying opioid misuse in individuals treated for cancer pain. The overarching aim is to assess the feasibility and acceptability of the intervention by conducting a randomized pilot trial of the revised intervention ("ACTION") for cancer patients on opioid therapy, and at risk for SUD.
The primary objective of this trial is to determine whether mindsets sustain the feasibility of taking cold showers over a 3-month period. Secondary objectives are to determine potential effects on physical and mental well-being, sleep quality, skin and hair appearance, perceived illness, and related sickness absences from work.
STEP-COVID (Supporting the Transition to and Engagement in Parenthood during the COVID-19 pandemic) is a manualized group intervention for pregnant women during the COVID-19 pandemic designed to foster emotion regulation and reflective capacities in participants.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the efficacy of an education outside the classroom (EOtC) intervention on adolescents' physical activity, school motivation, academic achievement, and wellbeing. The study will also investigate which pedagogical and didactical elements of EOtC are important to achieve more physical activity, school motivation, and wellbeing.
Sexual wellbeing is an integral component of psychosocial and physical wellbeing. Cancer-related symptoms, treatment side-effects and psychosocial distress have significant impact on sexual well-being and sexual health. Within the framework of sexual wellbeing, sexual function is defined by a capacity to fully engage in all phases of the human sexual response cycle. Thus, sexual dysfunction is characterized by a disruption in one or more elements of the response cycle. Previous research shows that patients with hematologic malignancies and specifically patients following stem cell transplantation experience a high symptom burden and distinct genital alterations, and therefore in increased risk of sexual dysfunction. In spite of growing evidence documenting high prevalence of sexual dysfunction in cancer patients, patients with hematologic malignancies are underrepresented in clinical trials investigating their sexual health. This study aims to examine the sexual health in patients across hematologic malignancies in Denmark, and to investigate feasiblity and effect of a randomized multimodal intervention by providing nurse-led sexual consultations and physician-led preventive genital examinations, to enhance sexual function and early recognition of gential graft versus host disease in adult patients following hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. Finally, the study aims to explore perspectives and experiences of patients following this multimodal intervention. This knowledge will entail new opportunities to detect subgroups of patients with distinct risk of sexual dysfunction, and potentially lead to targeted interventions in clinical practice toward this specific population. Moreover this will provide evidence with high methodological rigor and potentially strengthen the possibilities for evidence-based decision making in Denmark regarding preventive gential examinations during follow-up in patients following stem cell transplant.
Handball is reported to be top 5 in Europe when it comes to sports injuries. There are few studies based on player reported data, and earlier Swedish data is mainly based on data from Insurance ´companies and mostly acute injuries. Earlier data lack the overuse injuries and number of injuries are taught to be underreported. This epidemiological study has the objective to create research based knowledge about the injury panorama within Swedish handball with special interest in head-injuries in the elite level. By using a mobile application "AIM Control", a retrospective weekly registration of handball related injuries was recorded together with self-assessed injury impact. Also data about sports/exercise exposure, other causes that could affect the players ability to practice/play matches, self-rated recovery before next practice/match as well as positive and negative affects will be analyzed. Special emphasis is given to self-reported head injuries and the symptoms that the player might experience during the handball season 2019/2020. Data about symptom severity will be collected and analyzed together with AIM Controls other variables i.e. duration of symptoms and time to return-to-play. In case of a head-injury the Medical support team is contacted in order to describe the event, and interviewed with standardized questions about their thinking and action about how head injuries should be managed and prognosis of time to recovery and how to decide when a player is ready to play again? This is part of the AIM Control study called SWECON - handball.
Kalaripayattu is an ancient martial art of India which has been practiced for centuries. It is mentioned in Vedic litrature of Ayurveda,Dhanurveda and Yoga. The main elements of Kalaripayattu include training in physical, combat, breathing exercises, higher form of meditation and specific class of medical treatments. The purpose of the experimental study is to determine the effect of kalaripayattu on psychological well-being and behaviour in children.
