Filter by:Background: Skin conditions are common in young people and are known to adversely affect emotional well-being and quality of life in a range of ways, including negative impact on intimate relationships. However, despite its importance, it has been shown that dermatology consultations rarely address issues like genital skin involvement or sexual dysfunction. Furthermore, there is currently very little data on the scale of the problem, risk factors, psychological impact of skin on sexual function or understanding of the most appropriate ways to manage it in this age group. Research aims: The Dermatology department at Oxford University Hospitals National Health Service Trust (Oxford, United Kingdom) have already set up an award-winning specialist dermatology service for young people with embedded psychological support. This study further explores how services can be improved by evaluating the impact of chronic skin conditions on quality of life and sexual dysfunction in adolescents. By identifying the associated risk factors, recommendations can be made to effectively meet the physical and mental health needs of adolescents. Design and methods: The study will gain perspectives from follow-up patients aged 17 - 25 years seen by the Dermatology departments in Oxford University Hospitals National Health Service Trust (Oxford, United Kingdom). They will complete an online anonymous survey to share how their skin condition affects their quality of life, including sex and intimacy, and how services can be improved to meet their needs. In-depth interviews will then be conducted in those who volunteer, to better understand the nuances of unmet needs. Participation is voluntary. Dissemination: Results of the research will be disseminated by national and international conferences, publications in academic dermatology journals and collaborations with other NHS departments. Improvements will be made to the local adolescent dermatology service as a result and shared via local meetings and posters.
Earthquake is a disaster that causes physical, psychological, social, economic and cultural losses for individuals and affects/interrupts all age groups and normal life. Children are a group that is more affected by the earthquake than other members of the society and are exposed to its long-term effects. Children who have experienced earthquakes and continue to stay in the earthquake zone experience physical, economic, and social problems. In addition, the emotional and psychological development of these children is negatively affected. Due to the earthquake that occurred on 6 February 2023 affecting 11 provinces in our country, the needs in the field vary. After the acute period (first 1 month), children need psychological support. Problems that cannot be solved in the early period may cause health and behavioural problems in children in later ages and adulthood. In this context, approaching children with appropriate therapeutic communication methods positively affects their psychological well-being and directly affected physical resilience by enabling them to express their emotions. The aim of the study was to evaluate the effect of therapeutic communication programme on state and trait anxiety levels, psychological resilience, mental health and well-being of children aged 8-12 years affected by the earthquake. Hypotheses H1. After the therapeutic communication programme, children's State Anxiety Scale scores decrease. H2. After the therapeutic communication programme, children's Continuance Anxiety Scale scores decrease. H3. After the therapeutic communication programme, children's Me and My Emotions Scale scores decrease. H4. After the therapeutic communication programme, children's scores on the Child and Adolescent Psychological Resilience Scale increase.
The aim of this study is to verify the influence that participation in a Psychological Support Group has on anxiety, depression and coping skills in patients admitted to the IRCCS San Camillo Hospital. It is therefore an observational study with a pre-post design on a cohort of patients hospitalized at San Camillo IRCCS who attend the Psychological Support Group. The study consists of verifying whether the therapeutic activity of the Psychological Support Group (GSP) has an influence on the levels of anxiety, mood and coping skills in the patients who attend it. These purposes will be pursued through the administration to each patient at the beginning (pre) and at the end (post) of the period of attendance at the GSP, of validated scales: Stay Y2 (anxiety), BDI II(depressive symptoms), COPE NVD 25 (coping strategies) and the CORE-OM (outcomes of psychological activity).

The goal of this observational study is to: 1. develop and validate a health behavior theory-based questionnaire to examine the older adults' and informal caregivers' determinants of deprescribing behavior 2. assess the psychometric properties of this new instrument 3. analyze the moderating influence of health literacy and locus of control on the effect of the determinants on deprescribing intention or behavior. Participants will be involved in the validating process by completing the questionnaire to be validated, as well as the HLS19_Q12 for health literacy and the MHLC questionnaire for locus of control.

The goal of this observational study is to monitor the floatation experience and continue the program as long as deemed important. The main question it aims to answer is: will inventory wellbeing scores increase according to the number of floatation sessions accrued? Nurses (registered, practitioner, and anesthetist) and physicians, employed at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Trauma Center, Mercy Health, will be welcomed to participate in the floatation experience. Participants will be given an option to complete the Wellbeing Inventory survey prior to each floatation session.
In the first-year project of this study, oncology nurses have reported experiencing massive stress, insufficient communication ability, and the need for communication-related training. 70% of them had moderate or higher severity of workload, fatigue, and psychological distress (at the measure point) before being provided with Basic Remote Psychological Support Course (BRPSC). A month after BRPSC, some oncology nurses have indicated/affirmed the benefits of undergoing the comprehensive psycho oncology education training courses. Thus, the second- and third-year continuation projects are focused on the development and delivery of Multi-Psychological Empowerment Courses (MPEC) for oncology nurses
