Filter by:Brief Summary: Improving care of the injured (trauma care) is a way to the large burden of injury in low- and middle-income countries. The important initial period of trauma care is often chaotic and prone to errors. The World Health Organization created a Trauma Care Checklist (TCC), which improved key performance indicators of care at tertiary hospitals but encountered factors which decreased its uptake. The investigators propose the use of a model Trauma Intake Form (TIF) with potential to achieve the benefits of the TCC, but with automatic usage and with accompanying improvements in documentation for key elements of care. It is especially oriented for smaller hospitals. The investigators propose a pragmatic randomized clinical trial with introduction of the TIF at 8 hospitals sequentially, with start times randomized by stepped-wedge design. Specifically, the investigators aim to determine the effectiveness the TIF to function as a checklist for increasing the appropriate use of key performance indicators during care of the injured in emergency units of non-tertiary hospitals in Ghana, as assessed by independent observers; to determine the percent of injured patients with adequate data on initial assessment before vs. after introduction of the TIF in emergency units of non-tertiary hospitals in Ghana; and to increase the capacity of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and the network of non-tertiary hospitals in southern Ghana to undertake high-quality trauma care research, including clinical trials.
This study aimed to conduct a randomized controlled trial to examine the effectiveness of ROMA therapy( Reminiscence, Reality Orientation, Music, and Art) on improving cognitive function, behavioral and psychological symptoms in population with dementia. The hypotheis of this study is that these patients with dementia receiving ROMA therapy featuring reminiscence, reality orientation, music, and art would improve their cognition, depressive symptoms, and behavioral symptoms.
Background: Strengthening the Healthy Adult schema mode is the ultimate goal in Schema Therapy, working as an assumed mechanism of long-term change through improved positive mental health. Evidence-based interventions to directly strengthen this Healthy Adult mode are sparse. Objective: To study the feasibility, acceptability and effectiveness of the treatment protocol 'Schema Therapy and the Healthy Adult' (ST-HA) during the final stage of schema therapy in adult outpatients with personality- or chronic psychopathology. Method: In this study a single case experimental design (n = 8) with multiple measures will be used, to determine the effects of the ST-HA protocol on self-compassion, well-being, positive affect and Healthy Adult functioning. For each participant a no-treatment randomized baseline period (2-5 weeks) will be compared with treatment (ST-HA, 10 weekly sessions) and post-treatment follow-up (at 1- and 3-months). Assessments include brief diaries regarding self-compassion and Healthy Adult functioning (daily from baseline to end of intervention, and 7-days at 1- and 3-months follow-up) and standardized questionnaires for measuring weekly changes in self-compassion, well-being and adaptive schema modes. During phase changes additional measures of trait self-compassion, positive affect, adaptive schema modes and symptomatic distress will be administered.
This study aims to compare the efficacy in delivering two evidence-based parenting programs to families and young children experiencing homelessness. Outcomes evaluated include feasibility, treatment completion, treatment satisfaction of delivery of interventions as well as child outcomes (e.g., behavior problems, trauma symptoms) and parenting outcomes (parenting stress and parenting skills).
This observational study aims at Assessment of the prevalence and types Psychiatric disturbances that affects patients with COVID-19 infection with and without previous psychiatric diseases. in addition to, Assessment of the types of Psychiatric disturbances in patients with COVID-19 infection in correlation to age, disease severity, co-morbid conditions and treatments applied
Primary objective is to evaluate the feasibility of delivering an online early Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR) Recent Traumatic Events Protocol (R-TEP) to patients who have survived Covid-19 related critical illness, within the context of a randomised controlled trial (RCT). This will inform the design of a future RCT investigating the effectiveness of EMDR R-TEP in reducing psychological symptoms, for adult survivors of intensive care.
The Simple Physical Activity Questionnaire (SIMPAQ) was originally developed in English to assess physical activity level particularly people with mental illnesses. The purpose of this study was to translate and cross-culturally adapt the SIMPAQ into Turkish and investigate its psychometric properties.
Team Strategies and Tools to Enhance Performance and Patient Safety (TeamSTEPPS) is an evidence-based approach for teams that can be adapted for school mental health. TeamSTEPPS has been widely disseminated in health care settings with promising outcomes. TeamSTEPPS is designed to build competencies in the areas of leadership, situation monitoring, mutual support, and communication and has been associated with improvements in teamwork and communication as well as patient outcomes, such as decreased seclusion in psychiatric hospitals. This approach has yet to be extended as an implementation strategy in school or community mental health teams. If an evidence-based team approach like TeamSTEPPS can be successfully applied to school mental health teams, it could provide a cost-effective strategy for improving student mental health services and bolstering existing EBP implementation efforts, which to date generally have been insufficient in producing long-term clinician behavior change. In Aim 1 the investigators will capture key stakeholder perspectives about challenges in collocated school mental health services through formative work to inform collaborative planning and capacity building activities in Aim 2. Then, in Aim 2 the investigators will identify inter-organizational challenges and required components of TeamSTEPPS to adapt. The investigators will establish an advisory board and adapt TeamSTEPPS. The product of Aim 2 will be an adapted TeamSTEPPS, directed toward both school mental health and school-employed personnel, and specific, tailored implementation strategies to improve services in schools in conjunction with TeamSTEPPS. Finally, In Aim 3 the investigators will explore the feasibility, acceptability, and utility of TeamSTEPPS and the strategies generated in Aim 2 on inter-professional collaboration, teamwork, and student outcomes in eight schools.
This pilot randomized controlled trial of the Vermont Family Based Approach (VFBA) tested the feasibility of the VFBA in primary care pediatrics and its effects on children's and parents' emotional and behavioral problems and health-related quality of life. The VFBA is a public health framework for evidence-based health promotion, prevention, and treatment that is delivered from the family perspective and emphasizes emotional and behavioral health. The VFBA group received the VFBA intervention, while the Control group received pediatric primary care as usual.
Covid-19 pandemic now affects more than two million people worldwide. The neurotropism of the virus is assumed by its frequent association with neurological symptoms (anosmia, ageusia, headaches) but the extent of the central or peripheral nervous system involvement and the associated symptomatology remain poorly known for now. The main objective of this study is to describe the neurological and psychiatric manifestations occurring in the context of Covid-19 infection in patients hospitalized or followed-up in the APHP.SU hospital group. A better understanding of the neuropsychiatric impairment related to Covid-19 would improve the management of these patients in the acute phase, and knowledge of subsequent complications would allow adapting their rehabilitation and follow-up. The precise phenomenological description of these manifestations and the imaging, biology and neuropathology data will be compiled from the data collected by the physicians in charge of these patients as part of their inpatient or outpatient care. This study will also allow collecting unusual clinical manifestations from patients followed for neurological or psychiatric pathology in hospital departments and presenting a Covid-19 infection, in order to optimize the reorganization of their management, follow-up and rehabilitation in the epidemic context.
