NCT ID: NCT02121873 Completed - Breast Cancer Clinical Trials

The Breast Duct: Pilot Study of Genomic Sequencing of Exfoliated Ductal Cells Obtained Through Endoscopy and Lavage

Start date: July 2011
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The objective of this study is to determine whether we can use minimally invasive techniques to gain access to exfoliated ductal epithelial cells for whole genome sequencing. 1. To examine women with nipple aspiration, ductoscopy and ductal lavage and collect exfoliated cells from two ducts per woman. 2. To collect a blood sample at the time of the examination in order to obtain the woman's baseline genomic sequence. 3. De-identified samples will then have DNA and RNA extracted and whole genome sequencing and transcriptome analysis performed by Covance and Illumina. 4. Comparisons will be made within a breast (two ducts) and between the duct and blood as well as between women.

NCT ID: NCT02062697 Completed - Clinical trials for Ovarian Epithelial Cancer

Lavage of the Uterine Cavity for the Diagnosis of Ovarian and Tubal Carcinoma and Their Premalignant Changes.

LUDOC
Start date: February 2012
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Epithelial Ovarian cancer (EOC) is the leading cause of death among gynaecologic malignancies in western civilized countries, with an estimated prevalence in Europe and the US of 752,600 in 2007 and 59,828 deaths annually. State-of-the-art diagnostic tests for EOC include transvaginal ultrasonography and serum cancer antigen (CA-125) measurements; the specificity of these diagnostic tools however is low, and both tests are not effective enough at detecting EOC early enough to improve clinical outcomes. Definitive diagnosis of EOC still relies on histological or cytological confirmation. These findings underline the importance for an effective test for early detection of EOC. In the current project we will obtain a lavage of the uterine cavity. It will be investigated whether cells from EOCs or genetic material from those cells can be detected in the lavage fluid. Aim of this study: There is a clear clinical need for a diagnosis test to detect EOC at an earlier stage.

NCT ID: NCT02057146 Completed - Clinical trials for Benign Neoplasms of the Pancreas

Endoscopic Evaluation of Premalignant Lesions in the Biliary Tract and Pancreatic Ducts

Start date: October 2013
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Single operater pancreatico-cholangioscopy is performed through the working channel of conventional duodenoscopes. A visual evaluation of the biliary and pancreatic ductal systems is completed and obvious or suspicious macroscopic lesions are targeted by biopsy forceps. Evaluation of the usefulness of probe based confocal laser endomicroscopy in the evaluation of suspected premalignant lesions in the biliary duct and in the pancreas.

NCT ID: NCT01946217 Completed - HIV Infection Clinical Trials

Factors Affecting Patient Participation in AIDS Malignancy Clinical Trials Consortium Clinical Trials

Start date: September 2013
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

This pilot research trial studies factors affecting patient participation in Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) Malignancy Clinical Trials Consortium clinical trials. Determining how patients makes decisions about participating in a clinical trial may help doctors plan clinical trials in which more patients are willing to participate and are satisfied with their decision to participate.

NCT ID: NCT01752114 Completed - Carcinoma Clinical Trials

Early Diagnosis of Pulmonary Nodules

Start date: October 2012
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

This study is intended to determine the positive predictive value (PPV) and negative predictive value (NPV) of the multiprotein classifier based on the observed study prevalence of Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC) in the study participants.

NCT ID: NCT01752101 Completed - Carcinoma Clinical Trials

Identification of a Plasma Proteomic Signature for Lung Cancer

Start date: October 2012
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

The primary objective is to identify a panel of plasma and/or serum proteins that differentiates the absence or presence of lung malignancy in samples obtained from subjects enrolled in this IRB/EC approved study with pulmonary nodules.

NCT ID: NCT01626638 Completed - Clinical trials for Pre-malignant Pharyngo Laryngeal Tumors

Confocal Micro-endoscopy in Head and Neck Cancer/Micro Endoscopie Confocale (MEC)Oto-Rhino-Laryngologie (ORL)

MEC ORL
Start date: February 1, 2013
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The primary objective is to validate the diagnostic correlation between the intraoperative microendoscopic images and the conventional histological analysis on biopsy and/or surgical specimens on patients with epidermoid carcinoma.

NCT ID: NCT01540552 Completed - Lung Cancer Clinical Trials

Natural History of Lung Nodules Seen on CT Scans From Participants at High-Risk of Developing Lung Cancer

Start date: February 2012
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

RATIONALE: Comparing lung CT scans from participants with lung nodules at high-risk for lung cancer may help doctors learn more about the disease and find better methods of treatment. PURPOSE: This trial studies the natural history of lung nodules using CT scans from participants at high-risk for lung cancer.

NCT ID: NCT01414426 Completed - Clinical trials for Precancerous Condition

Vandetanib in Preventing Head and Neck Cancer in Patients With Precancerous Head and Neck Lesions

Start date: January 2012
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

This randomized phase II trial studies how well vandetanib works in preventing head and neck cancer in patients with precancerous head and neck lesions. Chemoprevention is the use of certain drugs to keep cancer from forming. The use of vandetanib may keep cancer from forming in patients with premalignant lesions

NCT ID: NCT01238185 Completed - Clinical trials for Precancerous Condition

Aspirin Mouthwash in Treating Patients With Oral Leukoplakia

Start date: February 2010
Phase: Phase 1
Study type: Interventional

RATIONALE: Aspirin mouthwash may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. PURPOSE: This phase I trial is studying the side effects and best dose of aspirin mouthwash in treating patients with oral leukoplakia.
