Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Feasibility study investigating the effects of dry needling on individuals with chronic neck pain and sleep disturbance.

NCT ID: NCT06233890 Active, not recruiting - Fatigue Clinical Trials

The Analysis of Fatigue on Tyrosine Kinase Inhibitor Therapy in Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia

TIRE
Start date: May 12, 2023
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The goal of this clinical study is to gain essential insights into the relationship between Tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) therapy and profound fatigue and abnormal sleep patterns using rest-activity monitoring (actigraphy) and peripheral blood biomarkers in patients with Chronic myeloid leukaemia in chronic phase. The main aims are to 1. Determine the variance of subjective and objective sleep disturbance 2. Determine the difference in serum biomarkers (activin B and L-carnitine) 3. Determine how thes findings concord/discord between treatment and control groups. Participants will asked to undergo 2 weeks of actigraphy monitoring and keep a sleep diary during this time. Blood and urine samples will be taken for analysis. Researchers will compare two groups (patients with fatigue and those without) to assess the differences between groups.

NCT ID: NCT05908344 Active, not recruiting - Insomnia Clinical Trials

Frequen-ZZZ SleepPad Investigational Device POC

Start date: July 21, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The investigators propose to examine the potential effects of the Frequen- ZZZ sleep pad - a noninvasive, unobtrusive appliance that generates a localized low-level electromagnetic field via radiofrequency, and that is used on the bed - on multiple sleep outcomes in an 8-week randomized crossover study, and to calculate the effect sizes of the intervention to inform power and sample size for future studies.

NCT ID: NCT05382494 Active, not recruiting - Snoring Clinical Trials

Intranasal Steroid as Medical Therapy For Sleep-Disordered Breathing in Children

MIST+
Start date: December 5, 2022
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

MIST+ is studying a nasal spray to see if it will reduce the need for surgery for snoring. Children aged 3-12 are invited to take part. Snoring affects up to 10% of children and can cause sleeping problems and concentration or behavioural issues in the daytime. Currently the most common treatment for snoring is surgery to remove the tonsils and/or adenoids, however many children wait a long time to see a specialist. This research is trying to find if nasal sprays can help children with snoring, and whether this can reduce the need for surgery.

NCT ID: NCT04992676 Active, not recruiting - Clinical trials for Coronary Artery Disease

Comorbid Insomnia and Sleep Disordered Breathing in Patients Undergoing Cardiac Rehabilitation

Start date: August 19, 2021
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The purpose of this research is to determine how frequently sleep disorders such as sleep disordered breathing and insomnia occur in patients with coronary artery disease enrolled in cardiac rehabilitation. By reviewing results of a variety of tests, we also hope to learn more about the cardiovascular effects on people who may have these conditions.

NCT ID: NCT04986995 Active, not recruiting - Parkinson Disease Clinical Trials

OpicApone Sleep dISorder

OASIS
Start date: June 9, 2021
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

The aim of this study is to To investigate in an exploratory manner the efficacy of 50 mg opicapone when administered with the existing treatment of levodopa (L-dopa) plus a dopa decarboxylase inhibitor (DDCI), in Parkinson's disease (PD) patients with end-of-dose motor fluctuations and associated sleep disorders

NCT ID: NCT04834154 Active, not recruiting - Breast Cancer Clinical Trials

Mental Health Disparities in Spanish Speaking Latina Breast Cancer Patients

Start date: March 15, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of the study is to:Translate a mindfulness program into Spanish for Latina patients with breast cancer.Train a community health worker to facilitate the mindfulness program. Determine if this program is culturally acceptable and feasible, and Obtain pilot data on the program's effectiveness in reducing anxiety and depression

NCT ID: NCT04641819 Active, not recruiting - Sleep Disorder Clinical Trials

Yangzheng Compound Mixture in the Treatment of Sleep Disorder in Cancer Patients

Start date: April 27, 2021
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

This is a nationwide, multicenter, randomized, prospective, real-world study. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect and safety of Yangzheng Compound Mixture in the treatment of sleep disorder in cancer patients with Qi-Yin deficiency syndrome during chemotherapy.

NCT ID: NCT04598672 Active, not recruiting - Insomnia Clinical Trials

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBTi) in Patients With Somatic Disease

Start date: January 1, 2018
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Insomnia is common with co-morbid somatic disease, e.g. rheumatic disease, cancer, heart and lung disease or gastrointestinal disorders. Pain, breathing difficulties and other symptoms of disease can worsen sleep problems and cause insomnia. In turn, insomnia may aggravate pain, fatigue and reduce quality of life in patients with somatic disorders. This project aims to evaluate a course offered to patients with insomnia and somatic disease at Diakonhjemmet Hospital. The course is based on cognitive behavioral therapy, a documented treatment for insomnia.

NCT ID: NCT04293874 Active, not recruiting - Breast Cancer Clinical Trials

Adaptive Symptom Care Using Fish-Based Nutritional Directives Post Breast Cancer

Start date: April 11, 2018
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Inflammation has been consistently associated with psychoneurological symptoms (PNS) among breast cancer survivors (BCS). Evidence supporting interventional strategies promoting symptom-self management in reducing inflammation-induced PNS in BCS is limited. Current guidelines for BCS encourage the consumption of foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids. The omega-3 fatty acid docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), abundantly available in fish, has a role in inflammatory downregulation. Low dietary DHA has been associated with inflammation and fatigue in BCS. Dietary planning targeting increased fish consumption thereby reducing red and processed meats are components of the major nutritional recommendations for BCS. A critical gap exists in knowledge regarding interventions promoting adherence to dietary guidelines in BCS supporting PNS self-management. This investigation uses personalized meal planning among BCSs (n=150) who are 1-2 years post-treatment for early-stage breast cancer and experiencing PNS (pain, fatigue, depression, sleep disturbance, stress) to evaluate the feasibility of a personalized meal planning approach in supporting adherence to current dietary guidelines for BCS. As a first step in this program of research, we will evaluate the feasibility of an personalized meal planning approach in promoting adherence to dietary guidelines for BCS through evaluating the feasibility of a personalized meal planning approach in a cohort of BCSs with respect to recruitment, group allocation, salivary inflammatory quantification and receptivity to and adherence with dietary interventions. This investigation will also contribute to a preliminarily evaluation of the efficacy of high or low fish diet in reducing inflammation (IL-1β, IL-6, TNF-a) and PNS symptoms. Nationally, there is a priority for the development of personalized health strategies supporting self-management of adverse symptoms. This investigation focused on PNS in BCS is an initial step in generating new knowledge in efficacious approaches toward guiding decisions on dietary behavior change strategies that are personalized, cost-effective, and sustainable.
