Patients' Expectations Before Spinal Surgery

With this study the investigators want to perform a prospective observational cohort study at Zealand University Hospital, Koege, Denmark. The purpose of this study is twofold: 1. to investigate how expectations predict patients' pain, rehabilitation and quality of life after spinal surgery. 2. to explore the patients' expectations before, and their experiences after, spinal surgery regarding pain, rehabilitation and quality of life.

Achilles tendinopathy is the injury that primarily occurs in athletes and people who engage in repetitive activities that involve the calf muscles, such as running, jumping, and sudden acceleration and deceleration movements. To observe the effectiveness of dry needling in the PGM of the gastrocnemius muscle, in the short and medium term, on the intensity of pain in gastrocnemius muscle, in the short and medium term, on pain intensity in patients with patients with Achilles tendinopathy, compared to the application of ultrasound-guided percutaneous electrolysis on the tendon.

Virtual Reality Application for Pain and Anxiety Reduction During Cystoscopy

The aim of this research is to conduct a two-group randomized controlled intervention study to determine the effect of virtual reality applications on pain and anxiety during cystoscopy. The study population will consist of patients who have applied to the urology outpatient clinic of a University Hospital for cystoscopy. The study sample will be composed of patients who volunteer to participate in the study and meet the criteria during the planned dates of the research. Data will be collected using a 'Personal Information Form' created by the researcher through a literature review, the 'Visual Analog Scale' (VAS) for assessing pain, and the 'State Anxiety Inventory' (SAI) for assessing anxiety.

37. babies under the gestational week are considered preterm babies, and babies between 32-37 gestational weeks are considered late preterm babies (WHO, 2023). Dec. While the preterm birth rate in the world is 10%, this rate is 13% in Turkey. The life rate of preterm babies has increased in recent years and they are subjected to many painful interventions for diagnosis, treatment and preventive purposes. At the time of birth, they experience painful interventions such as vitamin K, hepatitis B vaccine administration, heel blood collection. Painful interventions cause an increase in cortisol levels, resulting in impaired blood sugar in infants, impaired brain development, impaired growth and development (Akyildiz et al., 2023). In the short term, they may give signs of a decrease in oxygen saturation, an increase in heart rate, metabolic acidosis( Akcan et al., 2017). Procedural pain management is also important for the neurological development of preterm infants (Perg et al., 2018). For these reasons, the pain of the newborn due to interventional procedures should be managed well.

The PediQUEST Response to Pain Of Children With Neurologic Disability Pilot Randomized Controlled Trial

The goal of this pilot randomized controlled trial is to test the feasibility of running a full scale randomized controlled trial that compares the effect of the PQ-ResPOND intervention versus usual care to improve recurrent pain in children, adolescents, and young adults with severe neurologic impairment. The main questions it aims to answer are: - Is the study feasible and acceptable for participants? - Does PQ-ResPOND have a potential to be effective? Participants will: - answer surveys (their parents will) telling us about the child's pain, symptoms, and use of complementary therapies, and about their own psychological distress and satisfaction with care. - a group will receive the PQ-ResPOND intervention which consists of: - activating parents and providers by using the PediQUEST system, a web platform that administers surveys and generates feedback reports alerting parents and providers about the child's experience, AND - responding to child pain or discomfort by incorporating the Response team (members of the hospital's palliative care team) into the child's care to privde a standardized approach to managing recurrent pain. Researchers will use a comparison (control) group consisting of participants who will answer surveys and receive usual care (no feedback reports or consult with palliative care in this group) to see if a randomized design is feasible.

The Effect of Music Therapy on Pain and Anxiety

This study will be conducted to determine the effect of music therapy on pain and anxiety following coronary angiography in patients in intensive care. 60 patients who underwent coronary angiography will be randomized and divided into experimental (n = 30) and control (n = 30) groups. "Personal Data Form", "Pain Visual Analog Scale (Pain-VAS)", "Anxiety Visual Analog Scale (Anxiety-VAS)" and "Richmond Agitation and Sedation Scale (RASS)" were used to collect data. While participants in the experimental group will be given a problem-solving training program, no intervention will be made to the control group. The data in the control and experimental groups will be distributed homogeneously.

Efficacy of Korean Manupuncture on Pain in Women With Endometriosis: a Parallel-group Randomized Controlled Trial

Endometriosis is defined as the presence and development of hormone-dependent endometrial tissue comprising both glands and stroma outside the endometrium and myometrium. It affects 10-15% of women of childbearing age; of these, 25% are diagnosed following a consultation for infertility, and 25% following a consultation for pelvic pain. This disease has a strong functional (pain and infertility) and organic impact, its numerous symptoms can have a considerable effect on quality of life. Individualized analgesic management with multidisciplinary care (medical, surgical and psychological) can improve quality of life for women with endometriosis, but current treatment remains insufficient. Korean manupuncture is a complementary treatment technique that does not interact with current treatments. It's a holistic discipline that draws up a highly detailed map of the body's correspondence on the hand. Each body zone corresponds to a zone on the hand. The aim of this research is to evaluate the effect of Korean manupuncture on endometriosis-related pain. Patients will be randomly assigned to 2 groups, 30 to the "Korean manupuncture" group and 30 to the "placebo/control" group. Patients will be blinded to their assigned group.

Opioid Use and Predicting Factors at the Emergency Department

Background: Increasing opioid misuse is a worldwide problem. About 10% of opioid misusers are primarily exposed to opioids at the Emergency Department (ED). This study was conducted to determine the feasibility for a clinical trial investigating the effect of Virtual Reality therapy on opioid consumption at the ED. Methods: Adult patients were included when primarily seen by the Emergency Physician and presenting with a NRS pain score ≥4. Main objective was to identify the target population and evaluate outcome measures to sustain a trial incorporating the Oral Morphine Equivalent (OME) at the ED as the primary endpoint. Primary outcome was mean OME administered at the ED. Secondary outcomes included NRS pain scores, main symptoms and type of analgesics administered at the ED.
