The Effect of "Persons With Disability Friendly Nursing Education Program"

Start date: January 1, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this research; The aim of this study is to measure the effect of the Persons With Disability Friendly Nursing Education Program developed based on the Story Theory on the empathic tendencies of senior nursing students towards persons with disability and their perceptions of competence of senior nursing students to care for persons with disability. In the research, a multi-stage evaluation design from mixed method research will be used. Focus group interviews will be conducted before and after the program in the qualitative dimension of the research, while the randomized controlled double-blind pretest-posttest control group experimental design will be used in the quantitative dimension. The data of the research will be collected in the Department of Nursing of the Faculty of Health Sciences of Ondokuz Mayis University in Samsun, Turkey.

NCT ID: NCT05158322 Active, not recruiting - Clinical trials for Surgical Site Infection

Effectiveness of the Decolonization Circuit of S. Aureus, Reducing Infection in Primary Arthroplasty of the Lower Limb

Start date: October 14, 2021
Phase:
Study type: Observational [Patient Registry]

Lower limb joint replacement surgery is one of the most prevalent globally. In our center, more than 400 lower limb arthroplasties (LLA) are performed annually. Developing a Surgical Site Infection (SSI) after (LLA) increases morbidity, mortality and healthcare costs. Staphylococcus aureus is the main causative agent of SSI and especially in LLA. One third of the population is a nasal carrier of Staphylococcus aureus, being a risk factor for patients who have to undergo knee replacement or hip replacement. Several studies have confirmed that the detection of S. aureus carriers and their subsequent decolonization reduces SSI rates

NCT ID: NCT05053191 Active, not recruiting - Clinical trials for Gastrointestinal Cancer

Advancing Nursing Practices in Hospital Oncology Care

Start date: September 3, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to find out if a new training program for nurses called PACT (Partnership, Assessment, Care, and Transition) will be effective and relevant in helping nurses gain the skills needed to provide high-quality family-centered care. Family-centered care skills include engaging family caregivers as partners in patient care, and strengthening their capacity for caregiving by assessing family support needs and facilitating access to resources when needed. The study will also look at whether the quality of nurses' family-centered care skills is associated with improved outcomes for family caregivers. Both nurses and family caregivers will be enrolled in this study. Participants will be nurses/caregivers who care for advanced GI cancer patients admitted to Memorial Sloan Kettering.

NCT ID: NCT05049174 Active, not recruiting - Clinical trials for Cardiovascular Diseases

Nurse-led Smoking Cessation Program With Follow-up in Healthy Life Centres: a Randomized Clinical Trial

Start date: November 1, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

A better understanding of how to incorporate effective smoking cessation measures into clinical practice is requested. In this is prospective, multi-center, randomized, open, blinded end-point (PROBE) trial, we assigned daily smokers hospitalized with an acute cardiac event 1:1 to an in-hospital nurse-led smoking cessation intervention with direct referral to further follow-up in the municipal healthy life-centres (intensive intervention) or to written information about smoking cessation and the municipal program (low-threshold intervention) . The primary outcome will be the smoking cessation rates between the groups at 6 months follow-up. Key secondary outcomes include a cost-effectiveness analysis of the intensive intervention and cessation rates at 3- and 12-months follow-up, the proportion who used nicotine replacement therapy and the proportion who attended the healthy-life center program between the two groups. We also assess effects of recurrent cardiovascular events and mortality after 12 months, two and five years follow-up. Exploratory analyses include new knowledge about the patient and system factors of importance for participation to healthy life-centers and for changes in smoking behaviour.

NCT ID: NCT04746898 Active, not recruiting - Nurse's Role Clinical Trials

Effectiveness Of Different Simulation Methods As A Training Strategy In Basic Life Support

Start date: February 21, 2020
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The experimentally planned research was carried out with the students of Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University Faculty of Health Sciences Nursing Department between 21.02.2020-02.09.2020.After the informed consent form was obtained from the students who accepted to participate in the study, the students were divided into three groups by applying block randomization with the computer-assisted randomization method. Then, all students filled in the Participant Identification Form and the Basic Life Support Application Steps for Adults Information Form. Later, with a visual-based presentation prepared in line with the guideline updated and published by the American Heart Association (AHA) in 2015, a 30-minute training on basic life support for adults was given. At the end of the training, the students were informed about the groups they were in, and the working principles of the devices the groups would work on were informed. With the first group virtual reality applied scenario, the 2nd group computer-aided scenario-based high-reality simulation device (SimMan® 3G) and the 3rd group low-reality adult basic life support model. The groups will be taken to the laboratories individually and the applications will be done individually and other students were not allowed to follow the student who did the application during the application. During the application, the students were evaluated with the basic life support application evaluation form. During the application, the video recording taken with the permission of the students was watched with the student after the application and a debriefing session was held. After the application, education was evaluated with Student Satisfaction and Self-Confidence in Learning Scale. Basic life support knowledge level was evaluated by having the basic life support information assessment form filled out again at 3 and 6 months after the first evaluation.

NCT ID: NCT04741932 Active, not recruiting - Dementia Clinical Trials

Interprofessional Dementia Care

InDePendent
Start date: January 13, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Currently, around 1.7 million people with dementia live in Germany. The number of new cases per year is estimated to be around 244,000. At this time, no curative treatment for dementia exists. The progression of the disease results in high needs for care. Only a minority among People with Dementia (PwD) receive needs-based treatment and directive-compliant care. Previous studies found that more than 95% of PwD have an open need for care. The increase in chronically and multimorbid impaired patients leads to an increased number of patients in primary care. Particularly in rural regions, innovative care concepts based on a redistribution of tasks between specialized nurses and doctors could help to guarantee high-value care at all times. Nursing care can be expanded with regards to tasks and competencies, which is thought to increase the attractiveness of the nursing profession. Unfortunately, there are currently no scientific studies on the effectiveness and impact of such care concepts in Germany. The Aim of this study is to implement a structured care concept for the reallocation of tasks between general practitioners (GPs) and nurses and to evaluate its effectiveness on the living and care situation of people with dementia living at home. "InDePendent" is a multicenter, cluster-randomized, controlled intervention study with a waiting-control group. Randomization is carried out at the level of the participating GPs in a ratio of 1:2 (intervention group : waiting-control group).
