Filter by:The aim of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of 5-fluorouracil + Mitomycin for the patients with pulmonary metastasis of hepatocellular carcinoma who had progressive disease with sorafenib.
This pilot clinical trial studies irinotecan hydrochloride in treating patients with breast cancer and brain metastases that progressed after whole brain radiation therapy or stereotactic radiosurgery. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as irinotecan hydrochloride, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing.
Primary Objective: To determine if treatment with SRS followed by a HER-2 directed therapy regimen results in a 6-month distant brain relapse rate of less than 30%. Secondary Objectives: 1. Describe the natural history of neurocognitive function for women with brain metastases treated with SRS and HER-2 directed systemic therapy and establish a reference benchmark to generate hypothesis for future design of a phase III trial. 2. Describe patterns of distant brain relapse after SRS for all patients and compare them between (a) patients with 1-3 vs. 4-10 brain metastasis and (b) between patients treated with each systemic therapy regimen 3. Describe patterns of neurologic death 4. Describe patterns of local brain relapse 5. Describe patterns of re-irradiation with WBRT or SRS 6. Describe adverse events
A phase II trial evaluating Cabazitaxel in patients with brain metastasis secondary to breast and non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC). OBJECTIVES: Primary: The purpose of this study is to determine if cabazitaxel can induce a reduction in the size brain metastasis in metastatic HER2-negative breast cancer and NSCLC with brain metastasis who were not previously treated with whole brain irradiation or require immediate brain irradiation. Secondary: - To determine the effect of cabazitaxel on the time to initiating whole brain irradiation or radiosurgery - To determine the effect of cabazitaxel on the time to developing neurological symptoms - To determine the effect of cabazitaxel on the time to disease progression in the brain - To determine the effect of cabazitaxel on the time to disease progression outside the brain. This will be evaluated separately for the breast and NSCLC cohorts To determine the objective extra-cranial response (if applicable). This will be evaluated separately in the breast and NSCLC cohorts - To determine the safety of cabazitaxel
The purpose of this study is to determine the effects of CyberKnife stereotactic body radiotherapy in combination with irinotecan chemotherapy in patients with colon or rectal cancer that has spread to the liver. Conventional radiation therapy has a limited role in the treatment of patients with liver metastases because the radiation doses are limited by liver toxicity. The CyberKnife system is a type of radiation machine that precisely focuses large doses of x-rays on the tumor, so that injury from radiation to the nearby normal tissue will be minimal. It is approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to treat tumors, lesions and conditions anywhere in the body when radiation therapy is required. While the device is no longer classified as "investigational", the best treatment dose and times are still being evaluated. Chemotherapy delivered with radiation therapy can increase the effectiveness of treatment, and may allow for a lower dose of radiation therapy to be utilized, thereby limiting negative side effects. In this study, patients will receive Cyberknife radiosurgery directed to liver metastasis for 3-5 treatments, given every other day. Irinotecan 40mg/m2 will be administered intravenously daily for 3-5 days (5 treatments within 10 elapsed days), and prior to radiation therapy. Patients will have follow-up visits at months 1,2,4,6,9,12,15,18, 24, 30, 36, and every 6 months thereafter for 3 years.
This phase I trial studies the side effects of dynamic contrast enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DCE-MRI) in patients with advanced breast or pancreatic cancer with metastases to the liver or lung. Diagnostic procedures, such as DCE-MRI, may help measure a patient's response to treatment
The specific purpose of this study is to obtain data on safety and efficacy of combination chemotherapy with Temozolomide and Topotecan in patients with CNS metastases of solid tumors. Up to 35 patients will be accrued over 2-3 years and followed for up to 5 years and will receive 8 cycles of chemotherapy. The primary endpoint is the determinant median overall survival and progression-free survival of this regimen, time to progression of the brain metastases, and assessment of toxicity levels in this regimen.
This is randomized study of neurocognitive outcomes in patients with five or more brain metastases treated with stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS), specifically the Gamma Knife (GK) system, or whole-brain radiation therapy (WBRT). The primary aim of this study is to compare the change in neurocognitive function outcome between baseline and 6 months in WBRT versus SRS treatment groups.
This open-label, multicenter, non-randomized, dose-escalating phase Ib study with an expansion cohort will determine the recommended Phase II dose and schedule to investigate safety, tolerability, and activity of RO5083945 in combination with cisplatin and gemcitabine or carboplatin and paclitaxel in patients with advanced or recurrent non-small cell lung cancer of squamous histology who have not received prior chemotherapy for the metastatic disease. Cohorts of patients will receive escalating doses of RO5083945 in combination with up to 6 cycles of cisplatin and gemcitabine or carboplatin and paclitaxel. Anticipated time on study treatment is until disease progression or unacceptable toxicity occurs.
This study will determine the safety and applicability of experimental forms of umbilical cord blood (UCB) transplantation for patients with high risk hematologic malignancies who might benefit from a hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT) but who do not have a standard donor option (no available HLA-matched related donor (MRD), HLA-matched unrelated donor (MUD)), or single UCB unit with adequate cell number and HLA-match).
