Characterization of 18F-Fluciclovine PET Amino Acid Radiotracer in Resected Brain Metastasis

This study is for patients who have had surgery to remove brain metastasis and are planned to have stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) after their brain surgery. It will be optional for patients to have a pre-surgery 18F-Fluciclovine PET/CT scan. The goal of the study is to determine whether a specific imaging agent, known as 18F-Fluciclovine, will help physicians evaluate the extent of surgery and determine if there is any visible tumor above what MRI alone can identify as well as improve the physicians' ability to detect recurring disease. This agent (18F-Fluciclovine) is investigational for the imaging of brain metastases.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is featured by the spontaneously rupture when suffering severe cirrhosis and intratumoral overpressure. It is a fatal complication with an acute mortality. Importantly, it is served as an independent risk factor for peritoneal metastasis (PM) of HCC with poor prognosis. The systematic agents effective to extrahepatic lesions confers modest efficacy towards PM. HIPEC, as a novel strategy, has been proved by overwhelming studies that it is effective to peritoneal malignant tumors. However, there is absence of prospective study of HIPEC efficacy towards HCC.

Diagnostic Accuracy of 3T MR for Secondary Hyperparathyroidism Comparison With 4DCT

Secondary hyperparathyroidism (SHPT) is a common serious complication in the maintenance process of hemodialysis patients, characterized by diffuse or nodular hyperplasia of parathyroid glands. Parathyroidectomy for patients with drug-refractory SHPT is recommended in the clinical practice guidelines of the Global Organization for Improving Prognosis in Kidney Disease (KDIGO) and the Japanese Dialysis Therapy Society (JSDT) . Therefore, accurate localization and detection of parathyroid abnormalities is the key to avoid persistent recurrence of the disease. However, the sensitivity and specificity of the existing ultrasound and 99MTC-MIBI diagnosis are limited. CT examination is radiative and requires iodine contrast medium with nephrotoxicity, which may require timely dialysis and long-term monitoring for hemodialysis patients. 3T MRI has no radiation and does not need to use iodine contrast agent, which can well detect parathyroid lesions . Previous studies have reported that 3T MRI can diagnose primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT), but the diagnostic efficacy of SHPT is still unclear. Therefore, this study aims to evaluate the preoperative diagnostic value of non-enhanced 3T MRI compared with 4DCT in patients with secondary hyperparathyroidism after hemodialysis.

Prophylactic Radiotherapy of MInimally Symptomatic Spinal Disease

Early palliative care has been shown to improve the quality of life and even survival for patients with metastatic cancer. More and more supportive oncology teams in cancer centers now advocate for early integration of radiation therapy (RT) in a patient's palliative management course. While multiple randomized studies have evaluated the efficacy of different RT regimens in the treatment of symptomatic bone lesions, few studies have examined the impact of early, upfront RT for asymptomatic or minimally symptomatic (non- opioid dependent) spine metastases and its efficacy in preventing skeletal-related events (SREs). Since the pathophysiology of spinal metastatic disease is distinct from other bony metastatic disease, the proposed trial seeks to understand whether it is beneficial to patients with minimally symptomatic disease to undergo upfront RT to reduce the risks of SREs and their sequelae, including hospitalizations.
