NCT ID: NCT06001775 Recruiting - Dementia Clinical Trials

Patient Priorities Care Among Persons Living With Mild Cognitive Impairment and Dementia

IN-TX-PPC
Start date: August 31, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The goal of this pragmatic, embedded clinical trial is to analyze the implementation of Patient Priorities Care in primary care and geriatrics clinics with patients living with dementia or mild cognitive impairment. This study aims are: - demonstrate the feasibility of using the electronic health record to identify a diverse cohort of eligible patient and patient-care partner dyads who will engage in a Patient Priorities Care conversation with a trained facilitator. - demonstrate feasibility of pragmatically assessing clinical outcomes using the electronic health record, including a) number of days at home, b) total medications, and c) new referrals to specialist physicians. - examine key feasibility measures across racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic subgroups. Participants will receive a packet of information about Patient Priorities Care from their primary care clinic, in advance of their next upcoming clinic appointment. Individuals who receive a packet will have the opportunity to engage in a conversation about what matters most to them and what their priorities are, with trained facilitators at the clinic.

NCT ID: NCT05999929 Not yet recruiting - Clinical trials for Mild Cognitive Impairment

Memory Support System Feasibility Study

Start date: September 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to determining the feasibility of providing the Memory Support System (MSS) to individuals with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and their partners at a clinic in Ontario, Canada. This will involve a) collecting information from patients referred to the a memory clinic and geriatric day hospital about their interest in and their preferred method to administer the MSS; and b) a cost analysis related to implementation of the MSS. The study will also measure efficacy outcomes of the MSS regarding program adherence as well as to self-reported IADLs, self-efficacy for memory, quality of life, mood, anxiety, and caregiver burden among a sample of individuals with MCI and their care partners

NCT ID: NCT05997316 Recruiting - Obesity Clinical Trials

Time Restricted Eating for Metabolic and Psychological Optimization

TEMPO
Start date: August 7, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Obesity and related metabolic comorbidities have been associated with more than a 4-fold increased risk of incident cognitive impairment, including Alzheimer's disease and related dementias (ADRD). Dysfunctional metabolic flexibility is increasingly recognized as a critical mechanism linking metabolic risk factors to risk of cognitive impairment, although few studies portable behavioral strategies to enhance metabolic function among individuals at risk for ADRD. The present study will examine the feasibility and acceptability of a 12-week time restricted feeding intervention among individuals with mild cognitive impairment (MCI). Changes in cognitive and metabolic function will also be examined.

NCT ID: NCT05996575 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Mild Cognitive Impairment

Investigating Mild Cognitive Impairment in Patients And Controls With TD-fNIRS

IMPACT
Start date: July 25, 2023
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The goal of the proposed observational, multi-site study is to use fNIRS neurophysiological data recorded during a battery of tasks to detect MCI within a cohort consisting of patients and age-matched healthy controls. Furthermore, the investigators aim to explore whether they can measure the severity of MCI symptoms in the patient population. If successful, this approach enables clinicians to track the disease at its source-the brain; possibly allowing for earlier detection of MCI and its progression, and ultimately more efficient interventions.

NCT ID: NCT05992831 Recruiting - Depression Clinical Trials

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation for MCI

PUSH2
Start date: July 15, 2024
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The goal of this phase II study is to establish the dose-response curves of a safe and clinically feasible non-invasive brain stimulation technique (accelerated Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS)) to improve both depression and cognitive function in Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) patients with comorbid depression. It is known that TMS can effectively treat depression. Identifying the right dose of accelerated TMS in MCI patients is necessary prior to designing subsequent trials to determine efficacy. These results will inform future clinical trials of accelerated TMS for MCI, with the long-term goal of developing an efficacious treatment to prevent dementia.

NCT ID: NCT05986721 Not yet recruiting - Clinical trials for Mild Cognitive Impairment

Clinical Trial of AGB101 for Mild Cognitive Impairment

Start date: December 2024
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

The primary objective of the study is to evaluate the efficacy of AGB101 on slowing cognitive and functional impairment as measured by reduction in neuronal injury in participants with mild cognitive impairment due to Alzheimer's Disease. Participants will be randomized to receive placebo or AGB101 (220 mg), once daily for 78 weeks. Secondary objectives are to assess the effect of AGB101 compared with placebo on clinical progression as measured by the Clinical Dementia Rating Scale- Sum of Boxes and Memory Box score.

NCT ID: NCT05982470 Not yet recruiting - Clinical trials for Mild Cognitive Impairment

Effect of Menopause Hormone Therapy In Postmenopausal Women With CSVD And MCI

MIRACLE
Start date: August 18, 2023
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

The objective of this clinical trial is to explore the efficacy of menopausal hormone therapy in early menopausal women with CSVD and MCI. The main questions it aims to answer are: - The efficacy of menopausal hormone mainly estrogen therapy for early menopausal women with CSVD and MCI - The role of MHT in delaying the progression of cognitive function, CSVD imaging features, and other clinical symptoms and the potential pathophysiological mechanisms. Participants will be divided randomly into two groups taking MHT drugs and placebo respectively and followed up for 12 months to collect relevant clinical data.

NCT ID: NCT05980286 Completed - Aging Clinical Trials

Impact of Musical Improvisation Training on Cognitive Function in Older Adults

Start date: October 15, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This project will develop and test the effects and mechanisms of a music improvisation training intervention on self-regulation of older adults with and without MCI. The investigator's overall hypothesis is that improvisation training will lead to improvements in self-regulation, compared to controls, and that improvisation training will be associated with specific changes in prefrontal brain networks and ultimately cognitive engagement.

NCT ID: NCT05978804 Enrolling by invitation - Dementia Clinical Trials

Home-based tDCS in Frontotemporal Dementia or Alzheimer's Disease

Start date: August 10, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The primary objective of this research is to evaluate the effects of non-invasive brain stimulation and computerized cognitive training on executive functioning in individuals with Primary Progressive Aphasia (PPA), mild cognitive impairment (MCI), or dementia. In this study, investigators will use transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) to stimulate the left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC). Previous studies have demonstrated that tDCS over the DLPFC led to improvements in attention deficit caused by stroke, Parkinson's Disease, and major depression as well as language deficits caused by neurodegenerative conditions such as primary progressive aphasia or mild cognitive impairment. The investigators seek to expand on this literature by investigating how anodal tDCS paired with and without cognitive training will impact executive functioning in PPA with Frontotemporal Dementia or Alzheimer's Disease pathology and Mild Cognitive Impairment/Alzheimer's Disease (e.g. shifting, updating, monitoring, and manipulation).
