NCT ID: NCT03102697 Completed - Obesity Clinical Trials

Optimization and Follow-up of the Consecutive Use of Two Intragastric Balloons in the Treatment of Obesity

Start date: June 1, 2019
Phase:
Study type: Observational

This is a cohort study with the objective of describing during a 12-month follow-up, weight loss in obese patients submitted to treatment using two consecutively air-filled IGB (Heliosphere® 600 cc and Heliosphere 720 cc) without any interval between the removal of the first and the placement of the second.

NCT ID: NCT03101228 Completed - Clinical trials for Cardiovascular Diseases

Medical and Physiological Benefits of Reduced Sitting

Start date: April 25, 2017
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The most important objective of this randomized controlled trial in subjects with increased cardiovascular and metabolic risk factors is to investigate whether only reduced daily sitting improves human cardiovascular and metabolic health during a six-month intervention. It is hypothesized and expected that only reduced sitting, without formal physical activity or exercise training, affects favorably cardiovascular and metabolic health.

NCT ID: NCT03100162 Completed - Obesity Clinical Trials

Effect of Oral Supplementation With Probiotics

Start date: February 27, 2016
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Effect of oral supplementation with probiotics on cardiometabolic risk factors, microflora and intestinal epithelial permeability, mineral content and lifestyle in obese women with postmenopausal metabolic syndrome: double-blind, randomized clinical trial.

NCT ID: NCT03098446 Completed - Metabolic Syndrome Clinical Trials

The Effect of Sitting and Moderate Exercise on Plasma Triglyceride Elevation After a Meal

Start date: April 8, 2017
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of 4 days of sitting and moderate exercise on plasma triglyceride elevation after a meal.

NCT ID: NCT03092960 Completed - Obesity Clinical Trials

The HOMBRE Trial: Comparing Two Innovative Approaches to Reduce Chronic Disease Risk Among Latino Men

HOMBRE
Start date: April 3, 2017
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to test a flexible lifestyle program designed to help Latino men make healthy lifestyle changes to lower their risk of developing diabetes and heart disease. The program is called HOMBRE (Hombres con Opciones para Mejorar el Bienestar y bajar el Riesgo de Enfermedades crónicas; English translation: Men with choices to improve well being and decrease chronic disease risk).

NCT ID: NCT03089437 Completed - Metabolic Syndrome Clinical Trials

The Effects of Prolonged Standing Compared to Prolonged Sitting on Postprandial Lipemia

Start date: March 31, 2017
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The effects of 12 hours of prolonged standing will be compared to prolonged standing on a high fat tolerance test the following day. Plasma triglycerides, insulin, and glucose will be measured in a crossover study design.

NCT ID: NCT03087721 Completed - Metabolic Syndrome Clinical Trials

High-intensity Interval, Low Volume Training in Metabolic Syndrome

Intraining-MET
Start date: March 1, 2017
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The primary objective of the study is to compare the efficacy of an intervention with high-intensity interval, low volume training (HIIT-LV) or continuous aerobic exercise (CAE) on insulin resistance, insulin sensitivity and percentage of pancreatic β-cell function in adults with metabolic syndrome (MS). The secondary objective is to compare the efficacy of an intervention with HIIT-LV or CAE on glycosylated hemoglobin, mass and muscle fibre type composition of right thigh and plasma levels of musclin and apelin in adults with MS. The investigators hypothesized that HIIT-LV is more effective in decreasing insulin resistance and glycosylated hemoglobin and plasma concentrations of musclin and increasing plasma concentrations of apelin, and both mass and muscle fibre type I percentage in thigh, than CAE.

NCT ID: NCT03081598 Terminated - Clinical trials for Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

Study to Evaluate Safety, Efficacy of PBI-4050 & Its Effect on Relevant Biomarkers in T2DM Patients With Metabolic Syndrome

Start date: May 29, 2017
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

This is a Phase 2, multi-center, double-blind, placebo-controlled study of the safety and effect of PBI-4050 at doses ranging from 400 mg to 1200 mg on relevant biomarkers in subjects with inadequately-controlled T2DMS on stable background antidiabetic therapy.

NCT ID: NCT03072602 Completed - Healthy Clinical Trials

Racial Differences in the Natriuretic Peptide Response to Glucose Challenge

Start date: March 1, 2017
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of the study is to discover any racial dissimilarity in the response of Natriuretic peptide (NP) system to acute metabolic influences such as a high carbohydrate challenge

NCT ID: NCT03061227 Completed - Diabetes Clinical Trials

Characterization of Metabolic and Brain Effects of Rising Glucagon During an Oral Glucose Challenge

Start date: February 10, 2017
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The investigators previously characterized a phenotype with non-suppressed glucagon at 120 minutes after standardized oral glucose load. This phenotype is associated with healthy metabolic traits such as lower BMI, higher insulin sensitivity and lower liver fat content. Glucagon is a pleiotropic hormone that, besides its main action on increasing endogenous glucose production, also reduces appetite and increases basal energy expenditure. The aims of this study are to i. detect functional differences in the appetite-related central nervous system (CNS) areas between the suppressed and non-suppressed glucagon phenotype ii. mimick the non-suppressed glucagon phenotype in those participants who suppress glucagon by administering a very-low-dose glucagon infusion and retest them.
