NCT ID: NCT00005281 Completed - Asthma Clinical Trials

Early Risk Predictors For Chronic Pulmonary Disease

Start date: September 1977
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

To continue to evaluate risk factors heretofore determined to be important predictors of chronic respiratory symptoms, diagnosis of asthma, and alterations in expected levels of lung function in children and adolescents in a new population of young adult women.

NCT ID: NCT00005280 Completed - Clinical trials for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease

Specialized Center of Research in Occupational and Immunologic Lung Disease

Start date: June 1972
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

The overall objective of the Center was to develop a scientific data base for the control and prevention of acute and chronic lung injury caused by the inhalation of a variety of agents in the workplace and in the environment. There were two epidemiologic studies. Respiratory Effects of Exposures to Irritant Gases: To collect longitudinal lung function and symptom data in chemical manufacturing workers who were exposed to chemical irritants such as ammonia, chlorine, phosgene, isocyanates, sulphur dioxide, nitrous oxide, formaldehyde, organic acids, hydrochloric acid fluorides, other aldehydes, and acid anhydrides. Workers in the Cotton Textile Industry: To detect and quantitate the risk for the development of chronic obstructive airways disease which occurred in workers exposed to cotton dust in textile manufacturing.

NCT ID: NCT00005279 Completed - Asthma Clinical Trials

Tucson Epidemiology Study of Chronic Obstructive Lung Diseases

Start date: June 1971
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

To determine the natural history, etiology, and interrelationships of emphysema, chronic bronchitis, asthma, and related airways obstructive diseases. Also, to determine the relationship of acute lower respiratory tract illnesses in infants and children to the development of subsequent chronic lung disorders.

NCT ID: NCT00005276 Completed - Lung Diseases Clinical Trials

A Case Controlled Etiologic Study of Sarcoidosis (ACCESS)

Start date: June 1995
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

To test specific hypotheses concerning environmental, occupational, lifestyle, and other risk factors for sarcoidosis. Also, to examine the familial aggregation of sarcoidosis and to test genetic hypotheses concerning its etiology. Finally, to describe the natural history of sarcoidosis, particularly in African-Americans who appear to be disproportionately affected, and to implement a system for storing biological specimens including blood cells, plasma, and serum.

NCT ID: NCT00005275 Completed - Hypertension Clinical Trials

Sleep Heart Health Study (SHHS) Data Coordinating Center

SHHS
Start date: September 1994
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

To test whether sleep-disordered breathing is associated with an increased risk of coronary heart disease, stroke, all-cause mortality, and hypertension. The multicenter, longitudinal study draws on existing, well-characterized, and established epidemiologic cohorts.

NCT ID: NCT00005274 Completed - HIV Infections Clinical Trials

Pediatric Pulmonary and Cardiovascular Complications of Vertically Transmitted HIV Infection (P2C2)

Start date: May 1989
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Observational

To determine the prevalence and natural history of pulmonary and cardiac complications associated with HIV infection in utero, in infancy, and during early childhood.

NCT ID: NCT00005273 Completed - HIV Infections Clinical Trials

Pulmonary Complications of HIV Infection Study (PACS)

Start date: September 1987
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

To evaluate the types, incidence, course, and outcome of pulmonary disorders in newly diagnosed cases of Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS), newly diagnosed cases of AIDS-related complex (ARC) and newly diagnosed asymptomatic human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection.

NCT ID: NCT00005242 Completed - Clinical trials for Cardiovascular Diseases

Childhood Passive Smoking: Cohort Study of Cardiac Risk

Start date: April 1989
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

To determine the effects of long-term exposure to passive smoking on the cardiovascular and oxygen transport systems in pre-adolescent twins.

NCT ID: NCT00005221 Completed - Hypertension Clinical Trials

Analysis of Longitudinal Cardiopulmonary Data

Start date: April 1988
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

To define new national norms for pediatric blood pressure by adjusting the available data set of over 60,000 pediatric blood pressure readings for age, height and gender among children of normal body weight.

NCT ID: NCT00005154 Completed - Hypertension Clinical Trials

National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey IV (NHANES (IV)

Start date: July 1981
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

To supplement the fourth National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey protocol to include data on the common heart, vascular, lung, and blood diseases.
