Combined Effects of Virtual Reality and Motor Imagery in Patients With Non-specific Neck Pain

Non-specific neck pain is the most common musculoskeletal symptom which can cause limited cervical mobility, impaired functional status and stress at work. Virtual reality and motor imagery are unique technologies which have beneficial effects on the treatment of non-specific neck pain. Virtual reality is a simulated 3D environment that enables users to explore and interact with a virtual surrounding while motor imagery (MI) is a dynamic mental process of an action, without its actual motor execution. This study aims to investigate the combined effects of Virtual Reality (VR) and Motor Imagery Techniques (MI) with Routine Physical Therapy (RPT) in patients with Non-specific neck pain. This randomized clinical trial will be carried at Railway General Hospital, Rawalpindi on 93 participants meeting the inclusion criteria included in the study through probability convenience sampling technique. 3 groups of participants assigned ramdomly will receive interventions for three days a week for 6 weeks. Group A will receive virtual reality (VR) and motor imagery (MI) along with routine physical therapy for . Group B participants will receive VR along with routine physical therapy while Group C will receive MI along with routine physical therapy. Total treatment time will be 40 minutes. Outcome measure tools will be Numeric pain rating scale to measure pain, the Tampa scale of Kinesiophobia (TSK) for the measurement of kinesiophobia and Neck disability index for disability and functional status.

The objective of this study to determine the effect of mental imagery and task oriented training on Kinesiophobia in stroke patients. And to determine the association of Kinesiophobia with gait and balance in stroke patients. Patients will be divided into experimental and control group. Randomized participants will be allocated into control and experimental group. The experimental group will receive 20 minutes of MI training followed by 25 minutes of TOT for a total of 45 minutes, 5 days per week for 6 weeks.

The Effect of Different Talocrural Joint Mobilization Techniques in Lateral Ankle Sprain

Decreased ankle dorsiflexion range of motion (DFROM) has been identified among the factors that increase the risk of lateral ankle sprain (LAS) in basketball players. Restoring the DFROM is important in restoring reduced functional abilities and reducing the risk of re-injury. There is evidence that talocrural joint mobilization improves DFROM, but studies investigating the effectiveness of different mobilization techniques are needed. Our study aims to investigate the effects of single-session Mulligan and Maitland talocrural joint mobilization methods on dorsiflexion joint range of motion, jumping performance, and kinesiophobia in elite basketball players.

Development of Atılım Kinesiophobia Scale

Background: Kinesiophobia or fear of movement, is defined as an excessive and irrational fear of physical movement to avoid painful injury, harm or re-injury. The existing scales measuring kinesiophobia are thought to have some limitations (the difficulty of patients to understand and answer the questions, the presence of questions that are not suitable for the patient's condition). These questionnaires may not have specific questions enough to assess fear of movement in different patient populations. Aim: The aim of this study is to develop and validate the Turkish Atılım Kinesiophobia Scale. Material/method: In the first stage of the study, research on kinesiophobia was reviewed and a total of 38 questions were created for the scale. The questions were submitted to the opinion of 11 experts working in the physiotherapy and rehabilitation field. Then A total of 100 patients with acute and chronic musculoskeletal pain completed the Turkish Atılım Kinesiophobia Scale and Tampa Scale of Kinesiophobia.

Participants who meet the inclusion criteria will be enrolled and allocated in group A & B through sealed envelope method by Non-probability Convenient random sampling technique. Subjects in Group A will receive the strength training only. Group B will receive the mindfulness-exercise in addition to the strength training protocol.

Secondarily, the investigators intend to collect and analyze data on functional capacity and quality of life variables on the evolution of musculoskeletal symptoms, as well as on pain and psychological variables. Similarly, it is intended to make a record of different profiles and subtypes of frail older adult patients to be stored in Big Data in order to establish therapeutic intervention plans that allow both the evaluation and treatment of patients.

The Effect of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Virtual Reality Use in Inured Athletes

Important psychological problems can be experienced after sports injuries such as anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), these delay physical recovery, affect the quality of rehabilitation and eventually cause problems or re-injuries in the process of returning to sports. The most important of these problems are re-injury anxiety, rehabilitation adherence, rehabilitation self-efficacy problems and kinesiophobia. Although some interventions have been proposed for the solution of these problems, a structured intervention approach has not been put forward yet. With this research project, our aim is to examine the effectiveness of the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) protocol (CBT+VR) enriched with the contribution of virtual reality (VR). The research will be conducted with 60 athletes who meet the inclusion criteria. In the study, which is planned as a 4X5 (groupXmeasurement) mixed factorial design model with four groups (intervention1-intervention2-intervention3, control), the athletes will be filled with psychological assessment scales in order to collect the first data within the first week of starting physical therapy after ACL operation. The data obtained will be analyzed with multi-level statistics. Whether the anxiety levels of the athletes increase in the VR environment will be monitored with the biofeedback system, which will provide concrete data as well as subjective scales.
