Plantar Sensitivity Training and Aerobic Exercise Training in Patients With Multiple Sclerosis (PlaSTAcET Study)

The aim of this thesis study is to examine whether plantar sensory training given in addition to aerobic exercise training has an additional contribution to balance, functional capacity, walking and proprioception in patients with multiple sclerosis. In this direction, the hypotheses of the study are stated below. H0 hypothesis: Plantar sensory training given in addition to aerobic exercise training in patients with multiple sclerosis has no additional contribution to balance, functional capacity, walking and proprioception. H1 hypothesis: Plantar sensory training given in addition to aerobic exercise training in patients with multiple sclerosis has an additional contribution to balance, functional capacity, walking and proprioception. Conventional exercises (with the addition of warm-up and cool-down periods) will be applied to all multiple sclerosis patients participating in the study; In addition, aerobic exercise training will be given. In addition to these exercises, plantar sensory training will be given to the sensory training group. Exercises and plantar sensory training will be given to the participants at intervals of three weeks, with progressively progressive sessions, 2 days a week for 12 weeks. Patients will be evaluated twice, before treatment and at the end of treatment 12 weeks later. Within the scope of the evaluation, balance, functional capacity, gait, proprioception and plantar sensory parameters will be measured in patients. As a result of the study, it will be examined whether plantar sensory training given in addition to aerobic exercise training in multiple sclerosis patients has an additional contribution to balance, functional capacity, walking and proprioception. There is no study in the literature examining the effects of plantar sensory training and aerobic exercise training on balance, functional capacity, walking and proprioception in patients with multiple sclerosis. In this respect, it is anticipated that the study will contribute to the literature.

Grape Seed Extract VS Low Level Laser Therapy for Dentin Hypersensitivity

Dentin hypersensitivity (DH) is a common clinical problem frequently seen in dental patients. According to Splieth et al., the prevalence of dentin hypersensitivity is 3-98% in adult population.DH is described as a short, sharp pain or discomfort that responses to certain stimuli, typically thermal, tactile, osmotic or chemical, due to exposed dentinal surface which can be explained by the hydrodynamic theory. The laser is a narrow, focused beam of light emitted to vaporise, fuse, melt, or seal dentinal tubules using laser heat to induce hydroxyapatite crystals for recrystallisation of the mineral component of dentine. The obliteration of dentinal tubules is caused by heat generated by laser beam which inhibits the transmission of the stimulus in the dentinal tubules. Grape seed extract contains proanthocyanidins (PA) which is able to bind to proline-rich proteins, like collagen, and contributes in enzyme proline hydroxylase activity that is essential for the biosynthesis of collagen in the dentin. The cross-linking action of collagen fibrils in dentin also able to prevent mineral loss.

The goal of this pilot open pre-post clinical trial is to test effects of a wholegrain product in patients with newly diagnosed gestational diabetes. The main question it aims to answer is: Does the wholegrain product improve glucose tolerance and insulin sensitivity during a 75 g oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT). Participants will consume product on two consecutive evenings shortly after the first OGTT and will then perform a second OGTT. Researchers will compare the results of the first and second OGTT to see if glucose tolerance improved after consumption of the test product.

Efficacy of Herbal Dentifrice for Management of Dentinal Hypersensitivity

- Recently, Herbal formulations have gained wide popularity in management of Dentinal hypersensitivity owing to the additive effects of active anti-inflammatory ingredients like Curcuma longa, Clove oil, Acacia arabica and Spinach leaves in addition to desensitizing ingredients like Potassium nitrate and/or Sodium fluoride. - Jasmate herbal formulations which contains Potassium Nitrate along with aqua, calcium carbonate, sodium cocoyl glutamate, sorbitol 70%, glycerin, curcuma longa, arginine hydrochloride, erythritol, sodium saccharin, hydrated silica, sodium carboxymethyl cellulose, elettaria cardamomum, foeniculum vulgare, melaleuca leucadendra, eucalyptus globules, aloe barbadensis, carnosic acid, zinc oxide, hydroxyapatite, propolis, hippophae rhamnoides, syzygium aromaticum, myrtus communis, sodium benzoate and sodium fluoride7, where such formulations claim to have an anti-inflammatory action due to the active ingredient i.e. curcuma longa which further reduces the DH and have a synergistic effect. - Efficacy of desensitizing preparations containing the above ingredients, in the form of Jasmate was tested in the laboratory along with BioMin F and results were encouraging with sufficient occlusion of the dentinal tubules in both the groups without statistically significant differences in the results. - The biocompatibility (cytotoxicity) of Jasmate toothpaste preparation was evaluated in the laboratory by using human gingival fibroblasts at different concentrations. Different tests like cell cycle analysis, apoptosis / necrosis and MTT were done and Jasmate toothpaste preparation showed the lowest cytotoxicity as compared to BioMin F toothpaste preparation. Jasmate toothpaste preparation showed more than 92% of live cells in all concentrations. - The current randomized controlled clinical trial will be conducted to evaluate safety and efficacy of Jasmate toothpaste preparation in the management of DH post scaling and root planing in patients with chronic periodontitis.

The goal of this study is to evaluate the consistency between in vitro tumor organoid drug sensitivity and the therapeutic efficacy of in vivo drug treatment. Participants are required to provide one of fresh tumor tissues (including ascites, pleural effusion, biopsy tissues, palliative surgery specimens, etc.) for the purpose of culturing tumor organoids.
