Filter by:The aim of the present report is to evaluate the amino fluoride gel with or without application of diode laser on pain due to dentine hypersensitivity. NRS (numerical rating scale) index will be used to evaluate the pain suffered by each patient after cold air blow stimulus. After treatment application, the follow-up timing planned for each patient will be at 1 week, 1 month, 3 months and 6 months
The investigators will conduct low-dose intranasal allergen challenges on children and young people with an indeterminate diagnosis of food allergy to cow's milk or peanut. Blood samples will also be taken, for conventional blood allergy diagnostics (allergy-specific Immunoglobulin E) and mast cell activation test (MAT). The data will be used to determine the diagnostic accuracy of two complementary, novel approaches to diagnose food allergy, in a representative clinical cohort.
This clinical trial aims to test the effect of double surgical gloves worn in different sizes on the surgical team's comfort, sensitivity, and dexterity.
Our institution implemented a protocol to administer an emergent IV dye preparation for stroke alert patients requiring advanced neuroimaging. The emergent IV dye preparation consists of diphenhydramine 50 mg IV once, famotidine 20 mg IV once, and dexamethasone 10 mg IV once, followed immediately by Computed Tomography (CT) Angiography and/or CT Perfusion.
The goal of this clinical trial is to learn about oral immunotherapy in food allergic children < 30 months of age. The main question it aims to answer is: What is the clinical- and cost-effectiveness of early low-dose oral immunotherapy aimed at long-term tolerance induction. Participants will receive oral immunotherapy for 1 year with a maintenance dose of 300 mg allergenic protein and are compared with food allergic infants not receiving oral immunotherapy to compare with natural tolerance development.
Assessment of cardiovascular disorders using echocardiography and arterial stiffness; comparative noninvasive assessment of volatile organic compound (eVOC) exhale breath patterns in patients with different chronic respiratory diseases with age and gender-matched healthy adults in order to identify a disease-specific exhaled eVOCs profiles and markers of respiratory and cardiovascular disorders.
The use of titanium dental implants has become a common modern treatment to restore teeth. Although the success rate of dental implants is high, inflammation around the dental implant still occurs. The current study will investigate if the inflammation around the implant is due to bacterial infection, hypersensitivity or both. The goal of this cross-sectional study is to (1) Establish the levels of cytokines in peri-implant crevicular fluid associated with bacterial infection and hypersensitivity reaction; (2) Compare the levels of cytokines associated with hypersensitivity and bacterial infection between healthy implants and inflamed implants (peri-mucositis and peri-implantitis); (3) Determine whether the difference in the levels of cytokines, if they exist, reflects the clinical diagnosis of healthy implants and inflamed implants.
The study will only involve identification of the listed allergies from the electronic medical record and investigation into the symptoms that prompted this allergy listing. The purpose is to evaluate demographics and prevalence of allergies in patients presenting for surgery, evaluate the medical decision making process behind allergy identification, and determine its potential impact on perioperative care. The participants will be asked to complete a survey in REDCap using an iPad during the visit.
The present study is a 5-year follow-up of the Allergy Reduction Trial (A.R.T.) birth cohort study of 551 infants at high-risk for allergy. The A.R.T. 5-year follow-up study, aims to investigate the prolonged effect of each feeding regimen [formula-fed (exclusively or partially) with the partially hydrolyzed formula (pHF) or the standard formula (SF), or exclusively breastfed] within the first 6 months of life on the development of any allergic manifestations up to the age of 5 years. Allergic manifestations within this time period will include the presence of any of the following: atopic dermatitis, food allergies, respiratory allergies, urticaria, drug allergy and insect venom allergy. In addition, differences on growth (weight, height, BMI) will be examined.
The aim of this study is to gain more knowledge on the nutritional and immunological aspects of allergy to milk and eggs in children.
