This study aims to gather information to what extent patients follow the treatment regimen of low-dose aspirin for primary and secondary prevention of diseases of the heart and blood vessels. Researcher will collect information about the percentage of time a patient has access to the medication, how long patients continue with the medication and of the proportion of patients who switch from dual-antiplatelet therapy (including low-dose aspirin) to a single antiplatelet therapy. The study will make use of secondary healthcare data sources converted in to Observational Medical Outcomes Partnership (OMOP) common data model within the Observational Health Data Sciences and Informatics (OHDSI) network.
The Nordic Diet is a dietary pattern rich in traditional Nordic foods, including berries, grains, and fatty fish common in northern Europe. Studies have shown a protective effect of the Nordic Diet on cardiometabolic risk factors, however only select clinical practice guidelines for the management of diabetes (i.e. Diabetes Canada) recommend this dietary pattern. To support the update of the EASD clinical practice guidelines for nutrition therapy, the investigators propose to conduct a systematic review and meta-analysis of prospective cohort studies and clinical trials to investigate the association between the Nordic Diet, cardiometabolic outcomes and cardiovascular disease incidence and mortality. The findings generated by this proposed knowledge synthesis will help improve the health of consumers through informing evidence-based guidelines and improving health outcomes by educating healthcare providers and patients, stimulating industry innovation, and guiding future research design.

This study aims to investigate the perioperative outcome of congenital heart disease surgery in childhood from a chinese cross-regional cohort.
The primary aim of this study is to determine if clinically relevant doses of buccally administered oxandrolone are safe and tolerable in neonates with hypoplastic left heart syndrome (HLHS) or other single right ventricular anomalies who have undergone a Norwood procedure. The secondary aim is to evaluate the efficacy of buccally administered oxandrolone in improving objective indices of growth and nutrition in neonates who have undergone a Norwood procedure.

Sleep-disordered breathing has a prevalence of 30~80% in patients with heart diseases. Various studies have revealed a correlation between the incidence and various diseases such as heart failure, hypertension, diabetes, and cerebral infarction. Postoperative acute kidney injury after heart surgery is one of the major complications with incidence with 40~50%, however, there has been no preventive method or treatment yet. Recently, several studies have been published that have shown a correlation between sleep-disordered breathing and renal impairment. In general, sleep-disordered breathing can be regulated easily with continues positive expiratory pressure, which means that early diagnosis and treatment of sleep-disordered breathing might help to reduce the incidence of postoperative acute kidney injury and improve patients' prognosis. In this study, the investigators investigate the impact of sleep-disordered breathing (diagnosed by oxygen desaturation index ≥5) on the incidence of postoperative acute kidney injury in patients undergoing valvular heart surgery.
In a randomized, sham-controlled crossover trial the investigators will test whether supplemental oxygen given during cardiopulmonary exercise testing will improve exercise performance and physiological parameters in patients with grown-up congenital heart disease.
Atrial fibrillation (AF) is a highly prevalent, morbid condition. Anticoagulation to prevent thromboembolic strokes is a foremost priority in AF but adherence is challenging for patients and lapses in anticoagulation are common. Chronic disease self-management (CDSM) is a recognized program to enhance self-efficacy and improve adherence, quality of life, and patient-centered health outcomes. Rural patients with AF experience increased vulnerability to adverse outcomes due to geographic and social isolation, poor health care access, and limited health literacy. This study uses an innovative, scalable CDSM intervention to improve anticoagulation adherence in rural patients with AF.
