Losartan Effects on Emphysema Progression

LEEP
Start date: May 23, 2017
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

A randomized, parallel, placebo controlled trial to evaluate the effect of 100mg/day losartan on the progression of emphysema as measured by quantitative HRCT compared to placebo .

NCT ID: NCT02687997 Completed - Lung Cancer Clinical Trials

Prevalence of Sleep Disordered Breathing in a Lung Cancer Screening Cohort

SAILS
Start date: February 2016
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Prospective study of sleep disordered breathing in a lung cancer screening cohort.

NCT ID: NCT02682147 Recruiting - Emphysema Clinical Trials

Functional CT Assessment of Pulmonary Arterial Dysfunction in Smoking Associated Emphysema

Start date: July 10, 2017
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

This study will use dual energy x-ray computed tomography (DECT) to evaluate the relationship between heterogeneous perfusion, hypoxia (low oxygen in inspired gas) and induction of pulmonary vascular dilatation to characterize emphysema susceptibility in a normal smoking population. The investigators will correlate DECT measures of perfusion with lung injury measured by single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT). The investigators will study the effect of pulmonary arterial vasodilation to see if it eliminates indices of persistent lung injury in smokers that are susceptible to emphysema

NCT ID: NCT02633293 Terminated - Clinical trials for Pulmonary Hypertension

An Open Label Extension Study to Evaluate Inhaled Treprostinil in Adult PH With ILD Including CPFE

Start date: September 15, 2016
Phase: Phase 2/Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

This is a multicenter, open-label trial to evaluate the safety and efficacy of inhaled treprostinil in subjects with pre-capillary pulmonary hypertension (PH) associated with interstitial lung disease (ILD) including combined pulmonary fibrosis and emphysema (CPFE). The study will include about 266 patients who completed all required assessments in the RIN-PH-201 study at approximately 100 clinical trial centers. The study will continue Your participation in this study is voluntary and will last until you discontinue from the study or the study ends. The study will continue until each subject reaches the Week 108 visit or until inhaled treprostinil become commercially available for patients with PH associated with ILD including CPFE (whichever is sooner).

NCT ID: NCT02630316 Completed - Clinical trials for Pulmonary Hypertension

Safety and Efficacy of Inhaled Treprostinil in Adult PH With ILD Including CPFE

Start date: February 3, 2017
Phase: Phase 2/Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

This was a multicenter, randomized (1:1 inhaled treprostinil: placebo), double-blinded, placebo-controlled trial to evaluate the safety and efficacy of inhaled treprostinil in subjects with pre-capillary pulmonary hypertension (PH) associated with interstitial lung disease (ILD) including combined pulmonary fibrosis and emphysema (CPFE). The study included 326 patients at approximately 120 clinical trial centers. The treatment phase of the study lasted approximately 16 weeks. Patients who completed all required assessments were eligible to enter an open-label, extension study (RIN-PH-202).

NCT ID: NCT02627872 Active, not recruiting - Clinical trials for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease

Clinical & Systems Medicine Investigations of Smoking-related Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease

COSMIC
Start date: March 2007
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is an increasing global health problem, which primarily increases among the female population. The purpose of this study is to perform in-depth clinical and molecular characterizations of early stage COPD patients, as well as healthy never-smoker and at-risk smoking control populations to identify molecularly related subgroups patients, including gender-related sub-phenotypes of COPD.

NCT ID: NCT02611947 Completed - Healthy Clinical Trials

CT Indexes of Emphysema and Airways in Healthy Volunteers: Normal Values; Relations With Gender, Height and Weight

Start date: October 2010
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

Various indexes have been proposed to quantify both pulmonary emphysema and airways disease on chest CT scans. It is unknown whether these indexes should be consider in absolute values or as compared to predicted normal values. The purposes of the present study is thus : a) to measure these indexes at CT in healthy volunteers; b) to investigate their relations with gender, height and weight.

NCT ID: NCT02556697 Recruiting - Pulmonary Disease Clinical Trials

In Vivo Endomicroscopic Description of Pulmonary Microcirculation in Systemic Sclerosis and Emphysema Patients

MiPECSE
Start date: December 2014
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Systemic sclerosis (SSc) is a generalized disorder of connective tissue, arterioles and microvessels, characterized by the occurrence of fibrosis and vascular obliteration phenomena. The alterations in lung microvessels are found in pulmonary involvement of scleroderma, which are the most serious complications of the disease. In pulmonary emphysema, there are also changes in pulmonary microvasculature, which are involved in the onset and development of the disease. The confocal endomicroscopy is an endoscopic technique which can be performed during a bronchoscopy. This technique makes it possible to observe in real time the most distal pulmonary elements at the microscopic scale. After injection of fluorescein, then the technique of observing the pulmonary microvasculature, in vivo and in situ. The characterization of microvascular lesions in these two pathologies could improve understanding of their mechanisms and ultimately improve the early management of patients.

NCT ID: NCT02499380 Terminated - Emphysema Clinical Trials

Changes in Lung Physiology and Cardiac Performance in Patients With Emphysema Post Bilateral RePneu Coil Treatment

Start date: June 9, 2015
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The objective of this post-marketing study is to advance the understanding of the mechanism of action of the CE marked RePneu Coil by observing changes in lung physiology and cardiac performance in patients with emphysema treated with the RePneu Coils, when used as intended.

NCT ID: NCT02470052 Terminated - Emphysema Clinical Trials

A Prospective Multicenter Clinical Study to Evaluate the Safety and Effectiveness of the OL-BF-001 for Severe Emphysema

Start date: August 2015
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This is a multicenter,single-arm,open-label study designed to evaluate improvement of lung function and safety after treatment with OL-BF-001 for severe emphysema. OL-BF-001 consists of a bronchial valve, deployment catheter, loader and airway sizing kit. A bronchial valve is a small, umbrella-shaped, one-way valve that is placed inside the airways of one lung. It is used to redirect air from the less healthy to the more healthy parts of the lung. This helps to reduce over-inflation and may improve overall lung function and quality of life for people living with emphysema.
