Self-care behaviors are decisions and actions that people can take to improve their health or cope with a health problem. It is important for people with long-term illnesses to develop and maintain effective self-care behaviors. This study will evaluate the usefulness and practicality of the Collaborative Management in Pediatrics (CMP) program, which is a training program developed to encourage pediatric resident doctors to promote self-management of illness and behavior change among children with asthma or obesity and their families.
The goal of this study is to design a means of providing research families, from diverse geographical locations, the chance to receive genetic testing after having been educated by video, and meetings or telephone conversations with a genetic counselor/study professional. This is an investigational study. About 800 people will be offered genetic testing. This study is being performed only at MD Anderson.
Primary Objective: To pilot test high and low literacy patient education materials for colposcopy clinic patients, assessing impact on patient knowledge and patient feedback about the materials.
The purpose of this study is to determine the learning curve for each of seven tasks in a virtual reality laparoscopic simulator by medical students.
The main purpose of this study is to assess the effectiveness of human simulation in the training of the leadership, cognitive, and psychomotor skills required to lead medical crisis management teams. All participants in the study are trainees in the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) Multi-Disciplinary Critical Care Training Program (MCCTP.) All trainees will have received the standard critical care medicine-training curriculum including basic airway management, management of hypotension, unstable cardiac arrhythmias, difficult airway management and crisis team training. The participants will have also completed six months of baseline clinical training, which includes responding to medical emergencies at UPMC. The specific aims of this study are: 1. To assess the effectiveness of Human Simulation Training (HST) as an educational tool for teaching medical crisis management. 2. To determine the effect of HST on objective measures of performance in the domains of communication, leadership, cognition and psychomotor skills.
