The Effect of Breastfeeding Education Using a Doll During Pregnancy on Newborn Feeding

This study was planned in a randomized controlled quasi-experimental design to determine the effect of breastfeeding education using a doll during pregnancy on newborn feeding. Necessary institutional and ethics committee permissions will be obtained before the study. Before data collection, the consent form will be read to the pregnant women who meet the inclusion criteria and volunteer to participate in the study and their written and verbal consent will be obtained. The information in the participant information form will be questioned before the training. In the prenatal period of the study, the Control group will be given the standard breastfeeding education applied by the institution verbally. In the intervention group, breastfeeding education prepared in line with the relevant literature will be given by the researchers. Individual breastfeeding training will be given to each participant by a researcher.

Dissemination of Physical Activity-related Health Competence in Vocational Education of Nursing Care

The "TakeCare!" study addresses the problem that vocational students of nursing care cope with great physical and psychological demands during their daily routines. To meet these demands, the Bavarian curriculum for generalist nurses has adopted the promotion of physical activity-related health competence (PAHCO) for vocational students. However, it must be assumed that the concept has not yet been adopted comprehensively across the Bavarian nursing landscape. Therefore, the "TakeCare!" study tackles the question of how PAHCO can be implemented most appropriately in Bavarian nursing schools. Drawing on experiences from the project PArC-AVE, three different dissemination approaches will being tested and compared with a control group. A total of 16 nursing schools from different regions of Bavaria will be assigned to four different study arms (cluster-randomized design). In the long term, the project aims to derive recommendations for all nursing schools in Bavaria.

Observer Tool Use and Learning Outcomes for Central Venous Catheter Insertion Training

Learning to insert a central venous catheter (CVC) is essential in anesthesiology and the use of simulation is recommended. Since 2017, this training has been integrated into the curriculum for incoming first year anesthesia residents in Île de France and combines a theoretical part (flipped classroom) and a practical part on a simulator. Given the large number of residents, the time to teach the procedure during the simulation session is limited. To increase the positive effects of the simulation when the learner is in the role of observer, some authors have proposed to strengthen the educational effect through the use of an observer tool that observers must complete by analyzing the progress of the task performed by their colleagues. This is a list describing the set of key points to be achieved. However, data concerning the educational value of these observer tools are limited. Studies on the use of these tools during crisis management training in the operating room assessed by high-fidelity simulation has been already conducted but not on their use during procedural simulation. The objective of this study will be to assess the value of using an observer tool (OT) (including the key points during the insertion of an internal jugular CVC) to improve learning outcomes of incoming anesthesia residents during procedural simulation training.

Simulation in Transurethral Bladder Cancer Surgery

Bladder cancer (BC) is the seventh most common cancer disease among men worldwide, and the fourth most common cancer in Danish men with an incidence of more than 2000 and a prevalence of 650 per 100000 citizens. BC have a poor prognosis even when treated radically with cystectomy. The 5-year survival rate after radical cystectomy for T2 muscle-invasive tumors are 23-60 % and decreasing further to 23 % for T4 muscle-invasive tumors. BC is highly recurrent with an overall recurrence of 50 %. BC is considered to be the number one cost-expensive malignant disease of all malignant diseases measured by lifetime per patient in the United States. The degree of muscle invasion in the bladder is histologically and clinically defined by a transurethral resection of the bladder tumor (TUR-B). The tumor is resected radically if possible. Thus, it is of absolute importance that a sufficient TURB is performed, since a resection to the muscle layer of the bladder wall, the detrusor, is of prognostic value for the patient. Problem: The quality of the surgery is depending on the surgeon A recent international meta-analysis shows that up to 78% of the tumors are not radically resected. When these tumors are resected in a second TURB 24-28% of the tumors are found to be muscle-invasive. Furter, there is evidence indicating that the outcome of the resection is dependent on surgeon experience. Large multi-centre retrospective studies have showed that resident-involvement in TURB results in less radical bladder tumor resections and result in higher recurrence rates of bladder tumors and high numbers of re-admission after TURB. In Denmark, the current surgical curriculum states that TURB is a learning goal in the first year of the training. The formal training in TURB in Denmark is traditional apprenticeship in accordance with the Halstedian principle "see one, do one, teach one". No validated simulator-based certification in TURB exits today in Denmark or internationally. Purpose: Start from the beginning - improve the training of the surgeons Simulator-based training in surgical procedures is an effective method to gain surgical skills in a large spectrum of surgical procedures. In the initial phase of the learning curve it has even proven more effective than traditional apprenticeship and thus both the World Health Organization (WHO) and the European Association of Urology (EAU) calls for implementation of simulation training programmes in medical surgical education. The aim of this project is to validate and develop a simulator-based urological training programme in TURB, to implement the programme nationally and internationally, and hereby improve the outcomes in the surgical treatment of patients with bladder cancer.

Trial of Proficiency- Based Simulation Training for General Surgical Trainees

The hypothesis of this trial is to demonstrate that training junior surgeons on a virtual reality (VR) simulator in addition to didactic teaching will improve their intraoperative performance compared to those trainees who receive the traditional teaching paradigm (i.e, operating under the guidance and instruction of a consultant general surgeon). We anticipate that the VR trained group will make less critical intraoperative errors and will perform faster than their traditionally trained colleagues. Other study questions include: 1. Does objective assessment of fundamental abilities (FA) such as visuo-spatial ability predict intra-operative performance? 2. Do FA predict rate of learning to reach proficiency?
