Filter by:This study will test the impact of addressing diffusion of responsibility with and without additional reduction of prescribing burden on SGLT-2i and GLP-1RAs prescribing compared to usual care. Population: MGH primary care physicians caring for at least 2 eligible patients. Eligible patients are individuals age18 years or older with type 2 diabetes and HbA1c >7.5% and a compelling indication for an SGLT-2i or GLP-1RA (including cardiovascular disease, kidney disease, heart failure, or obesity), who are not already prescribed one of these therapies. Intervention: PCPs will be randomized to one of three arms: 1) intervention to address diffusion of responsibility, 2) Intervention to address diffusion of responsibility with additional simplification of prescribing, 3) usual care.
The study is designed to determine whether seaweed extract added to a carbohydrate-rich meal, can lower blood glucose levels after its consumption, and hence lower its glycaemic index, and if this effect is mediated through effects on insulin. It is designed as an acute, randomised, cross-over, controlled, three-arm dietary intervention trial in healthy subjects. Participants will be asked to consume either white bread, white bread with lower dose of seaweed extract or white bread with higher dose of seaweed extract.The effects on plasma glucose levels and levels of insulin will be determined over 3 hours after the consumption.
Randomized controlled trial of a curriculum intervention teaching patients to eat a whole-food plant-based dietary pattern versus standard of care in kidney transplant recipients within the first few months of transplant
The investigators will study if group education for parents of adolescents with type 1 diabetes (T1D) will improve the transition from adolescence to adulthood. The investigators aim to conduct a pilot randomized controlled trial (RCT) of parent group education sessions to assess the feasibility and refine the intervention to inform a full-scale multicenter RCT. The aims of the pilot are to estimate: 1. Recruitment rate, 2. Adherence rate, 3. Response rate, and 4. Retention rate. The aims for the future full-scale multicenter RCT are to assess the effect of parent group education sessions integrated into pediatric care, compared with usual care on self-management, hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c), adverse outcomes and validated measures during the transition from adolescence to adulthood. The investigators will conduct a parallel group, blinded (outcome assessors, data analysts), superiority pilot RCT of parents and their adolescents with T1D (14-16 years of age) followed at a university teaching hospital-based pediatric diabetes clinic in Montreal. Interventions will occur over 12-months. Follow-up will be to 18 months from enrollment.
The purpose of the study is to collect information on participant's blood sugar levels, body weight, how satisfied participant is with the treatment, and how participant takes his/her diabetes medicines. Participant will get Rybelsus® as prescribed by study doctor. The study will last for about 8-10 months. Participants will be asked to complete a questionnaire about how they take their Rybelsus® tablets. Participants will complete this questionnaire during their normally scheduled visit with the study doctor.
Type 2 diabetes is a chronic disease that can lead to a number of complications if uncontrolled and there is a projected increase of 33% patients living with diabetes over the next 10 years. There can be improvements to modifiable risk factors such as diet and exercise, in addition to medications. Treatment often involves a multidisciplinary approach with a physician, endocrinologist, dietitian, pharmacist and other support health professionals as required. This study will evaluate the effects of the pharmacists (or pharmD interns) intervention, looking at changes to the patients HbA1C, which is a measure of the patients blood glucose control over the previous 3 months as well as the patients understanding and comfort with managing their own diabetes via participant survey.
Evaluate the impact of conducting a screening questionnaire (FINDRISC) and the implementation of a point-of-care HBA1c test for those with identified risk to suffer Diabetes in ten years, to improve the proportion of patients attending for a confirmatory test ( oral glucose tolerance test ) and evaluate the impact of such a strategy to minimize type 2 diabetes outcomes.
The goal of this study is to examine the feasibility and potential effectiveness of a short (4 sessions) self-compassion intervention for adolescents with T1D and their caregivers on psychological, metabolic, and behavioral outcomes.
The purpose of this study is to assess the glycaemic controlling effects of BSG and bio-transformed BSG-containing biscuits in Singapore adults with MetS. The investigators hypothesized that consumption of BSG and bio-transformed BSG containing biscuit will improve glycaemic control.
This clinical trial tests the Eat, Move, Live (EML) Program in reducing the risk of chronic diseases among underserved communities by improving healthy lifestyle practices, increasing physical activity and encouraging healthy eating behaviors. EML is a series of free culturally and linguistically appropriate nutrition and physical activity sessions. The interactive education segment of the EML Program is culturally responsive, and based on the community EML program, and topics will include: nutrition guidelines, reading food labels, recipe modification and healthy food preparation, eating healthy on a budget, chronic diseases information and prevention strategies. The EML program may help reduce the risk of cancer and chronic diseases by encouraging more physical activity and healthy eating behaviors.
