Filter by:This study seeks to investigate the effects of an online single-session intervention on college student mental health and well-being. Undergraduate students from the University of Pennsylvania and Harvard will be randomized to a 30-minute single-session intervention or a study skills control group. Students' depressive symptoms, anxiety symptoms, positive and negative affect, and subjective well-being will be assessed up to 12 weeks post-intervention.
The purpose of the study is to evaluate the feasibility of a new monitored self-guided digital cognitive behavioural therapy format through one of the key components of an intervention for depression and anxiety (Problem Solving) and to answer the question: Do patients with significant levels of depression and/or anxiety symptoms consider the monitored self-guided digital format usable and credible? An uncontrolled trial will explore participant's usability and treatment credibility ratings.
The study is a factorial randomized controlled trial investigating the efficacy of difference versions of internet-administered cognitive behavioral therapy.
Parents of children with a chronic disease or functional disabilities have an increased risk of stress-related distress and reduced quality of life. Internet-delivered interventions are one way to reach out to exhausted parents who may often have challenges in finding time to access face-to-face services. We developed a guided web-based Acceptance and Commitment Therapy intervention for Finnish parents of children with chronic conditions or functional disabilities. Participants (N=100) will be recruited on parent associations' Facebook groups and randomly assigned to guided web-based ACT condition and a control condition receiving psychoeducation. The guided web-based ACT condition will receive a 10-week web intervention including three remote meetings with a psychologist through the telemedicine application Doxy.me. Symptoms of burnout (SMBQ), depression (PHQ), health-related quality of life (RAND-36), mindfulness (FFMQ), general measure of psychological flexibility (CompACT) as well as the wellbeing of their child (KINDL) will be measured before (pre) and after the intervention (post), at 7-month (follow-up 1) and 10-month (follow-up 2) after the pre-measurement. In this randomized controlled trial we will investigate the outcomes and the mechanisms of change of the web-based ACTintervention. In addition, we will examine the acceptability of the web-based intervention.
This study will test the effectiveness of a brief educational intervention that teaches youth that they can grow and change, known as "growth mindset." Similar growth mindset interventions have improved youths' well-being and academic skills, and reduced risk for depression. In this study, youths' depressive symptoms and well-being will be measured before the intervention and then again 4 months after the intervention to determine if the intervention had a positive impact for youth experiencing transitions (firs and last years of high school).
The present study investigated the effects of high-intensity interval exercise training and placebo-exercise on mental health and inflammation using a randomized control trial. The study also examined how anxiety symptoms prior to high-intensity interval training may influence improvements in fitness. Inactive young adults underwent nine weeks of either high-intensity interval training or their regular routine. Questionnaires, a blood draw and a maximal exercise test were conducted the week before and week after the intervention. It was hypothesized those who underwent high-intensity interval training would experience greater reductions in their depression, anxiety, and inflammation than those who were in the placebo control group. It was also hypothesized those who had high anxiety symptoms at the start of high-intensity interval training would experience smaller improvements in fitness than those who had low anxiety symptoms.
The purpose of this study is to compare the effectiveness of two depression prevention programs and a control brochure for college students. Participants may experience reductions in depressive symptoms and prevention of future depression.
This study will examine the acceptability and effectiveness of using a stepped care treatment model, and specifically, the CBTm classes, in a rural population. The introduction of CBTm classes, developed in Winnipeg and used in outpatient mental health clinics there, is new to Adult Community Mental Health in the Prairie Mountain Health region. This research is being done to explore whether this is a treatment model that is effective at reducing symptoms of anxiety and depression and also whether it affects the workload for Community Mental Health Workers in a more rural area. Further, this research is being done to explore whether clients perceive this form of services to be useful and acceptable.
The purpose of this study is to develop a modified behavioral activation program in adolescents with ADHD to be implemented by school mental health providers in an urban, low-income school district. Subsequently the investigators will examine its effectiveness in reducing depressive symptoms and improving emotion regulation and reward responsivity, compared to usual care.
