NCT ID: NCT01979341 Withdrawn - Pregnancy Clinical Trials

The Effect of a Dual Trigger on Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) Reproductive Outcomes

Start date: October 2013
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The use of antagonist controlled ovarian stimulation protocols has allowed the use of GnRH agonist to be used for final oocyte maturation. The use of GnRH agonist as ovulation trigger has been shown to reduce the risks for ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS), but its sole use results in reduced embryo implantation due to luteal phase insufficiency. The combination of GnRH agonist and variable doses of hCG for final oocyte maturation has been shown to overcome the luteal phase insufficiency effecting endometrial receptivity. In this study the investigators will test the hypothesis that using GnRH agonist (0.2mg Triptorelin) and a full dose of hCG (6500IU Ovitrelle) for final oocyte maturation in normoresponders will increase oocyte maturity, embryo quality and embryo implantation and reduce ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome, as compared to the traditional hCG (full dose) alone trigger.

NCT ID: NCT01925001 Withdrawn - Sickle Cell Disease Clinical Trials

Phase 2 Study of MP4CO to Treat Vaso-occlusive Sickle Crisis

Start date: October 2013
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

Sickle Cell disease is caused by an inherited hemoglobin disorder. Healthy red blood cells are discoid and can deform and move through small blood vessels to carry oxygen to all parts of the body. In Sickle Cell disease, as red blood cells circulate and oxygen is released, the deoxygenated abnormal Hemoglobin S can begin to polymerize and cause red cells to become sticky and elongated. These "sickled" red cells are less flexible and will obstruct small blood vessels and prevent normal red cells from circulating freely, which limits oxygen delivery to tissues and organs. This is known as a "sickling crisis" or "vaso-occlusive crisis" and is the leading cause of hospitalization in patients with Sickle Cell disease. Patients suffering from a sickle crisis experience severe pain and are at risk of stroke, heart attack or even death. Current therapy is limited to hydration and symptomatic pain relief. The administration of MP4CO as an adjunct treatment to standard therapy may alleviate pain associated with a sickling crisis and potentially reduce the severity and duration of a crisis. This may shorten the time in hospital and potentially improve the quality of life for patients with sickle cell anemia.

NCT ID: NCT01805817 Withdrawn - Clinical trials for Contraceptive Methods Comparison

Comparison of Levonorgestrel Intrauterine System, Copper T Intrauterine Device and Oral Contraceptives on Life Quality

Start date: December 2012
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

Oral combined contraceptives(OC) have both progesterone and estrogen inside. Levonorgestrel-releasing intrauterine device(LNG_IUS) has only progestagen. Copper IUD does not have any hormonal molecule inside. - Hypothesis is OC has more systemic beneficial or side effects than LNG_IUS or copper IUD. LNG_IUS has more local effects than copper IUD. - Study reflects the beneficial or side effects of estrogen+progestagen pills and only progestogen inside device.

NCT ID: NCT01622335 Withdrawn - General Anesthesia Clinical Trials

Effect OF Nitrous Oxide On Acute Pain and Opioid Consumption, and Chronic Pain After Hysterectomy

Start date: May 2012
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The study is prospective and double blind. In the clinic, patients undergoing hysterectomy that meet the criteria for inclusion into the study and agreed to participate in the study will be randomized into two groups.

NCT ID: NCT01622322 Withdrawn - Post Operative Pain Clinical Trials

Nitrous Oxide On Acute Postoperative Pain and Opioid Consumption and Chronic Pain After Inguinal Hernia Repair Surgery

Start date: May 2012
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

To compare postoperative pain, opioid consumption and chronic pain in patients undergoing to hernia repair surgery after receiving nitrous oxide or oxygen during the general anesthesia.

NCT ID: NCT01600963 Withdrawn - Clinical trials for Multi-drug Resistant Tuberculosis

A Study to Evaluate the Efficacy and Safety of TMC207 in Patients With Pulmonary Infection With Multi-drug Resistant Mycobacterium Tuberculosis

Start date: March 2014
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to provide safety and efficacy data for TMC207 and to demonstrate that TMC207 added to a background regimen (BR) is superior to treatment with the BR plus placebo.

NCT ID: NCT01553487 Withdrawn - Clinical trials for Effects of Vibration

Effects Of Unilateral Forearm Vibration On The Loss Of Muscle And Bone Of Contralateral Forearm

Vib-Frx
Start date: September 2013
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The aim of the present study is to investigate the effects of vibrating the forearm bone in the free limb on muscle strength and bone mineral density of the forearm in patients with forearm/elbow fracture. A total of 80 patients with forearm/elbow fracture are planned to include in this study. Patients will be randomly attained Training or Control group. Training period will be six weeks. Patients in the control group will receive standard care for provided for fractures, including fixation and rest. Before the start of the study and after six weeks, bilateral bone density of distal radius will be measured by DXA. Before trials, grip strength and the rest muscle electrical activity of contralateral wrist flexors and extensors will be measured. After six weeks, bilateral grip strength and the rest muscle electrical activity will be measured.
