Total intravenous general anesthesia and combined general anesthesia are recognized methods used during anesthesia. They allow you to effectively control pain and reduce the number of complications associated with taking large doses of opioid drugs. It should be emphasized that both methods of anesthesia are currently approved for use in routine anesthetic practice, and only the experience, knowledge and preferences of the anesthesiologist determine which technique will be used in a given patient. Both techniques are used in everyday anesthetic practice, but there is no conclusive scientific data confirming the superiority of either method in patients undergoing bariatric surgery, therefore currently only the individual experience, knowledge and preferences of the anesthesiologist determines which technique will be used in a given patient.

The main purpose of this study is to determine if retatrutide can significantly lower the incidence of serious heart-related complications or prevent the worsening of kidney function. The trial will enroll adults with body mass index 27 kg/m^2 or higher and Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease and/or chronic kidney disease. The study will last for about 5 years. Participants will have up to 27 clinic visits with the study doctor.

Atrial fibrillation (AF) is a prevalent cardiac arrhythmia affecting millions globally, with projections indicating a doubling of cases by 2050. AF is linked to heightened cardiovascular risks like stroke and increased healthcare costs. Ablation, targeting the arrhythmia substrate, is a method to manage AF, yet recurrence rates remain high (20-45% in the first year). Studies highlight the impact of comorbidities, AF characteristics, ablation techniques, and myocardial remodeling markers on AF progression and ablation efficacy. However, there's no definitive guidance on selecting these factors for predicting treatment success. The aim of this study is to investigate predictors of successful AF ablation in the following areas: (a) clinical factors, (b) electrophysiological, (c) electrocardiographic, (d) ultrasound, (e) cardiac anatomy, (f) biomarkers.

Opioid-free Anesthesia as an Alternative to General Anesthesia in Abdominal Surgery

Due to the increasing number of reports of cancer progression in people undergoing surgery under general anesthesia using opioids, OFA is believed to have a favorable long-term prognostic effect, especially in cancer patients. The opioid-free protocol is also used in postoperative analgesia. It is estimated that up to 75% of surgical patients experience chronic postoperative pain, which has a particularly negative impact on the quality of life. The investigators would like to compare pain during the first 48 postoperative hours of patients undergoing abdominal surgery who would be anesthetized with opioids and without opioids (patients would be randomly assigned to a group) (1, 2, 6, 12, 24 and 48 h after operations). A secondary objective will be to measure total oxycodone consumption in the postoperative period in both groups. Other secondary objectives: assessment of postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV).

Misophonia is a disorder causing intense reactions to specific sounds, disrupting daily life. Current treatments lack evidence-based support. The goal of this study is to explore the effectiveness of cognitive reappraisal (CR) in reducing misophonic responses. The study involves 100 participants assigned to either a 4-week CR program or Autogenic Training. Emotional regulation, symptoms of anxiety and depression, quality of life, and more will be assessed using various questionnaire-based measures; perseverations with a task-based test (Wisconsin Card Sorting Test); the presence of psychiatric and personality disorders using face-to-face interviews (The Mini-International Neuropsychiatric Interview (M.I.N.I.) and "Structured Clinical Interview for DSM-5® Personality Disorders" (SCID-5-PD)

In order to reduce patient morbidity and enhance periodontal wound healing with sCTG can be used. The aim of this study is to compare the results of the modified tunneling technique with subepithelial connective tissue graft in gingival recessions placed with the inner side towards the flap cover graft and the outer side towards the flap cover graft.

Cognitive Functioning in Adults With Somatic Diseases and General Population From a Biopsychosocial Perspective

The goal of this observational study is to investigate cognitive functioning profiles in adults with neurologically recognized aphasic syndromes and general population. The study group consist of minimal 600 adults (over 18 y.o.) who will be examined by qualified diagnosticians. Participants will be evaluated with tasks related to the studied variables: memory, learning and language. Furthermore informations regarding past and present health condition will be collected from participants. The main questions it aims to answer are: 1. What is the profile of memory and learning among polish adults? 2. Do gender and age moderates patterns of memory and learning functioning among polish adults? 3. What is a specific pattern of language functioning in adults with neurologically recognized aphasic syndromes? 4. Do gender moderates specific patterns of language functioning in adults with neurologically recognized aphasic syndromes? Researchers will compare the following groups of adults: 1. general population/control group 2. with neurologically recognized aphasic syndromes 3. seniors (over 60 y.o.)
