RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as mitomycin, fluorouracil, and cisplatin, use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Combining radiation therapy with chemotherapy may kill more tumor cells. It is not yet known whether radiation therapy and mitomycin are more effective when combined with fluorouracil or with cisplatin in treating anal cancer . PURPOSE: This randomized phase II/III trial is studying how well giving radiation therapy and mitomycin together with fluorouracil works compared to radiation therapy, mitomycin, and cisplatin in treating patients with locally advanced anal cancer.

Chemotherapy and Bevacizumab With or Without Radiofrequency Ablation in Treating Unresectable Liver Metastases in Patients With Colorectal Cancer

RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Monoclonal antibodies, such as bevacizumab, can block tumor growth in different ways. Some block the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread by blocking blood flow. Others find tumor cells and help kill them or carry tumor-killing substances to them. Radiofrequency ablation uses high-frequency electric current to kill tumor cells. It is not yet known if chemotherapy is more effective with or without radiofrequency ablation in treating liver metastases. PURPOSE: This randomized phase II trial is studying combination chemotherapy, bevacizumab, and radiofrequency ablation to see how well they work compared to combination chemotherapy and bevacizumab alone in treating unresectable liver metastases in patients with colorectal cancer.

PURPOSE: Randomized phase III trial to compare the effectiveness of chemotherapy alone with that of transurethral resection followed by chemotherapy in treating patients who have bladder cancer.

PURPOSE: Randomized phase III trial to compare the effectiveness of breast-conserving therapy with mastectomy followed by radiation therapy in treating women who have locally advanced breast cancer that has been previously treated with chemotherapy.
