There are about 188 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Kuwait. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
The purpose of this study is to compare foot care knowledge, behaviour and glycaemic control in patients at increased risk of diabetic foot ulcers. Participants will receive either usual diabetic foot care education and follow-up as per evidence-based guidelines or usual care and follow-up, supplemented with an educational video and weekly foot alerts via a phone application.
Purpose: To examine the effect of addition of combination therapy with dapagliflozin plus pioglitazone to insulin on glucose control and plasma ketone concentration in patients with type 1 diabetes (T1DM) Research Design: 120 patients with type 1 diabetes who otherwise are healthy constitute the study population. After screening, eligible subjects will start 4 week run in. At week 4, subjects will receive dapagliflozin for 12 weeks. At week 16, subjects will be randomized to receive in a double blind fashion pioglitazone or placebo for 16 weeks. Methods: the following techniques will be employed in the present study: (1) mixed meal tolerance test; (2) indirect calorimetry; (3) continuous glucose monitoring. Clinical Relevance: the results of the present study will demonstrate that the addition of pioglitazone to SGLT2 inhibitor in T1DM patients produces greater reduction in the HbA1c without increasing risk of ketoacidosis and hypoglycemia.
Background: Locally advanced head and neck cancer (HNC) is a challenge as, in spite of initial good control with chemoradiation, the majority of patients fails systemically. In the last 2 years, immune check points inhibitors (mainly Programmed Death (PD)-1 inhibitors) were approved for metastatic/recurrent HNC. The favorable toxicity profile and durable responses was the main benefit of these drugs along the scope of cancers they were approved for. Aim of the study and methods: This will be a phase II non-randomized trial to define safety and efficacy of combining the PD-1 inhibitor pembrolizumab given concomitantly with the usual standard of care chemoradiation/bioradiation for locally advanced non-nasopharyngeal HNC. Primary end point will be assessment of toxicity and tolerability while the secondary end points will be response rates (RR) and progression free survival (PFS)
to study the effect of oral gabapentin (5 mg/kg) on emergence agitation after desflurane anesthesia in pediatrics undergoing starbismus surgery
Using qualitative method; a qualitative case study using semi-structured interviews to explore patients' experiences. Study population of insulin pump patients aged 11-18 years old will be recruited from pediatrics with T1D at Dasman Diabetes Institute; who started using CSII at least one year ago and their parents. Semi-structured interviews will be recorded and then transcribed word by word. Data analysis will be performed using an inductive thematic approach.
Primary immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) is an uncommon disease characterised by a low platelet count, which may cause the patient to have a higher risk or increased duration of bleeding. Individual hospitals only encounter a small number of ITP patients each year which makes it difficult to study this disease. By creating this disease registry, we will be able to build a more complete picture of ITP, including treatment practices, through collecting information about the condition from patients across several hospitals in several countries. Research of this kind will help future patients by providing doctors with information about ITP, and about how patients have been treated.
The purpose of the Registry is to provide continuing evaluation and periodic reporting of safety and effectiveness of Medtronic market-released products. The Registry data is intended to benefit and support interests of patients, hospitals, clinicians, regulatory bodies, payers, and industry by streamlining the clinical surveillance process and facilitating leading edge performance assessment via the least burdensome approach.
Randomized phase III trial to determine the effectiveness of High dose versus Standard dose of Vitamin D2 (Ergocalciferol) given with Docetaxel in patients with metastatic breast cancer
The ICGG Gaucher Registry is an ongoing, international multi-center, strictly observational program that tracks the routine clinical outcomes for patients with Gaucher disease, irrespective of treatment status. No experimental intervention is involved; patients in the Registry undergo clinical assessments and receive care as determined by the patient's treating physician. The objectives of the Registry are: - To enhance understanding of the variability, progression, identification, and natural history of Gaucher disease, with the ultimate goal of better guiding and assessing therapeutic intervention. - To assist the Gaucher medical community with the development of recommendations for monitoring patients, and to provide reports on patient outcomes, to optimize patient care. - To characterize the Gaucher disease population. - To evaluate the long-term effectiveness of imiglucerase and of eliglustat. Gaucher Pregnancy Sub-registry: The primary objective of this Sub-registry is to track pregnancy outcomes, including complications and infant growth, in all women with Gaucher disease during pregnancy, regardless of whether they receive disease-specific therapy. No experimental intervention is given; thus a patient will undergo clinical assessments and receive standard of care treatment as determined by the patient's physician. If a patient consents to this Sub-registry, information about the patient's medical and obstetric history, pregnancy, and birth will be collected, and, if a patient consents to data collection for her infant, data on infant growth through month 36 postpartum will be collected.
The main purpose of the Product Performance Report (formerly referred to as System Longevity Study) is to evaluate long-term performance of Medtronic market-released cardiac rhythm products by analyzing product survival probabilities.
