There are about 483 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Jordan. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
Obesity presents a substantial economic burden in Jordan. Binge eating disorder (BED) and food addiction (FA) are the most common eating disorders associated with obesity. BED and FA most therapeutic approach is cognitive-behavioral therapy. Dopamine (DA) and serotonin (5HT) the major neurotransmitter responsible for FA and BED. Daily calorie restriction (CR) and intermittent calorie restriction (ICR) are two forms of diet therapy that can help weight loss. Prolong fasting increases lipolysis and elevates ketones bodies' levels in the brain led to a significant increase in the DA and 5HT. No prior human research has examined the effect of ICR (model 8:16) on DA and 5HT levels and weight reduction on obese with BED and FA. Therefore, A Randomized, controlled trial of 6 weeks follow-up will be used. A sample of 100 obese women will be selected to be randomly assigned to daily CR or ICR, or control group without FA or BED for a period of 6 weeks. Participants will be undergoing nutrition assessment, Anthropometrics assessment, food Addiction assessment (YFAS), binge eating assessment (BEDS-7), and hormonal level (DA&5HT) at baseline and after 6 weeks. The investigators anticipated that CR and ICR (model8:16) will significantly induce DA&5HT level changes and that ICR (model8:16) will be significantly more effective than CR in reducing BED & FA.
this is a retrospective cohort, descriptive study, investigating the role of ERAS protocols, in pediatric surgery and evaluate the feasibility and effectiveness of implementing these protocols
Prospective study of both maternal and fetal outcomes of those pregnancies that were complicated by COVID-19 infection at various gestational ages. The follow up will be from the time the diagnosis was made till discharge of the mother and her baby from the hospital.
One of the main difficulties encountered in esthetic dentistry is the complexity associated with shade matching and layering technique to achieve optimal esthetic outcomes. To ensure an esthetic outcome, an imperceptible match of the color of the restorative material to that of the tooth is of utmost importance. Recently, a new shade matching composite that utilizes "smart chromatic technology", developed by Tokuyama was claimed to be able to capture the structural color of its surroundings teeth. Our main objective is to assess the blending capacity of OMNICHROMA composite material in anterior restorations of patients attending the Jordan University Hospital. Both visual and instrumental measurements will be performed and the differences between the shade of the composite resin and the tooth structure will be measured. In addition, multi chroma composite restorations will be placed for the purpose of comparison (control).
Heart Failure research registry is a collection of computerized information about individuals with heart failure. The database in this registry is obtained from several Jordanian medical centers which will represent an extremely valuable resource for epidemiological research on heart failure patients.
The primary objective of the study was to explore which insulin-based regimen is better, infusion or bolus regimen, for intraoperative management of glucose level for the diabetic patient at cardiac surgery. Secondary objectives include: comparing the relative amounts of insulin needed during the operation and subsequent cost impact and comparing potassium levels between groups. Ethical approval for the study was obtained from the Office for Research Ethics Committees at Hashemite University - Prince Hamza hospital. This study was a parallel-group, randomized, controlled trial with 1:1 allocation ratio. Participants: Adult diabetic patients, type 2, who were admitted to hospital for cardiac surgery. The intervention: Both patients in the infusion or bolus group received their dose of insulin, fast-acting human insulin (Actrapid®) was used. Setting: Patients were recruited at Prince Hamza hospital, Amman, Jordan. A tertiary care center specialized unit in cardiac surgery for diabetic patients. Outcomes monitoring: It was monitored six times as follows: preoperative induction measure, then glucose post heparin, and after that for 2 hours, glucose levels were monitored every 30 minutes. Insulin quantities were recorded as well to be used in secondary outcomes analysis. Randomization, allocation, and blinding During patient enrolment, concealed allocation to either infusion group or bolus group was guaranteed through the use of a closed envelope system prepared by an independent investigator. Block randomization with random block sizes, ensured allocation balance, and avoided selection bias by preventing allocation prediction. Researchers and physicians were blind to the block size sequence and randomization. Envelopes were unopened until completion of patient registration. Hospital staff who monitor glucose and those who administered insulin were blinded to the primary and secondary outcomes' measure.
A total of 24 healthy non-smoker patients requiring FGG recruited for the study. Subjects were equally and randomly assigned into two groups. Test group, local application of HYADENT BG on both donor and recipient sites. Control group, application of normal saline on both sites as placebo. The FGG dimensions were evaluated at 1, 3- and 6-month recall using digital photographs. Post-operative pain was evaluated for 14 days. Color matching and patient satisfaction were evaluated at 6 months.
People with multiple sclerosis (MS) need exercise training programs throughout their life in order to prevent secondary complications of the disease. Coronavirus disease of 2019 (COVID-19) forced people with chronic disorders to stay at home in order to prevent the transmission of the virus. Therefore, people with MS now are facing a new challenge in going outside their home to perform their rehabilitation sessions. One of the solutions to keep them exercising is a home-based exercise program and one of the home exercise programs that are well validated in older adults is the Otago exercise program (OEP). Investigators suggest that the balance would improve and fall incidences would reduce using the OEP in people with MS compared to health awareness videos only. 50 participants with confirmed diagnosis of MS will be recruited in both groups. Using a randomized controlled trial this study aims to examine the effectiveness of the OEP compared to a control group that gets health awareness videos only on falls and falls-related factors in people with MS.
An open label, randomized, three-treatment, three-period, crossover, single dose study, to investigate drug-drug interaction and relative bioavailability between the fixed dose combination Azelastine hydrochloride / Beclomethasone dipropionate (140/100 μg Azelastine hydrochloride / Beclomethasone dipropionate) Nasal Spray, and Beclomethasone Dipropionate Nasal Spray (100 μg Beclomethasone Dipropionate) in the test vehicle, and the commercially available product, RinoClenil® Nasal Spray (100 μg Beclomethasone Dipropionate), in healthy subjects under fasting conditions.
