NCT ID: NCT04917016 Completed - Clinical trials for Retained Products of Conception

B-HCG Levels in Women Diagnosed With Retained Products of Conception

Start date: December 1, 2019
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Retained Products of Conception (RPOC) is a condition where gestational tissue remains in the uterus after birth or after a surgical or medical abortion. This condition may cause significant bleeding, infection, and long-term intrauterine adhesions associated with fertility problems and pregnancy complications (Asherman's syndrome). RPOC are diagnosed according to the clinical and ultrasound findings (such as an echogenic foci in the uterine cavity with Doppler blood flows). However, the diagnosis of RPOC by clinic and ultrasound characteristics is inaccurate and false positive results are reported in up to 40% of women undergoing a surgical procedure for RPOC removal (most often by hysterosocpy). However, surgery also carries a risk of complications and intrauterine infections. Therefore, the need arises for additional tools to improve the diagnosis available today in order to minimize the need for surgical procedures as much as possible. The production and secretion of the B-HCG occurs in the placenta and begins after blastocyst implantation. The B-HCG levels increase in other placental pathologies such as gestational trophoblastic disease (GTD). Accordingly, the investigators hypothesized that in cases of placental remnants a secretion of B-HCG may be detected and quantified. In this prospective, non-interventional study the investigators' aim is to examine whether B-HCG can be used as a marker for detecting placental remnants, compared to the currently accepted sonographic method. For this purpose, the investigators will examine the levels of B-HCG in participants undergoing hysteroscopy for removal of RPOC.

NCT ID: NCT04916470 Completed - Clinical trials for Heart Failure With Preserved Ejection Fraction (HFpEF) and Diabetes Mellitus, Type 2

Research Study to Look at How Well Semaglutide Works in People Living With Heart Failure, Obesity and Type 2 Diabetes

STEP HFpEF DM
Start date: June 15, 2021
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

This study will look at how participants' daily life is affected by their heart failure. The study will also look at the change in participants' body weight. This study will compare the effect of semaglutide (a new medicine) compared to "dummy" medicine on body weight and heart failure symptoms. Participants will either get semaglutide or "dummy" medicine, which treatment participants get is decided by chance. Participants will need to take 1 injection once a week. The study medicine is injected with a thin needle in a skin fold in the stomach area, thigh or upper arm. During the study participants will have talks with the study staff about healthy lifestyle and physical activity. The study will last for about 59 weeks, that is a little more than 1 year. Participants will have 12 clinic visits with the study doctor. - At 6 of the visits participants will have blood samples taken. - At 5 of the visits participants will be asked to fill in a questionnaire - At 4 of the visits participants will have to do a 6-minute walking test - At 3 of the visits participants will have a test to check the heart. - participants will have their eyes checked before or at the start of the study and at the end of the study Women cannot take part if pregnant, breast-feeding or plan to become pregnant during the study period.

NCT ID: NCT04910958 Completed - Covid19 Clinical Trials

NCT ID: NCT04908475 Completed - Psoriasis Clinical Trials

Study of Subcutaneous Risankizumab Injection Compared to Oral Apremilast Tablets to Assess Change in Disease Activity And Adverse Events in Adult Participants With Moderate Plaque Psoriasis Who Are Candidates for Systemic Therapy

Start date: June 9, 2021
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

Psoriasis (PsO) is a chronic disease characterized by marked inflammation of the skin that results in thick, red, scaly plaques. This study will assess how safe and effective risankizumab is compared to apremilast in adult participants with moderate plaque psoriasis. Adverse events and change in disease symptoms will be monitored. Risankizumab (Skyrizi) and apremilast are approved drugs for the treatment of moderate to severe PsO. Approximately 330 participants with moderate plaque psoriasis (PsO) will be enrolled across approximately 55 sites globally. The study has 2 periods : Period A from Baseline to Week 16, and Period B, from Week 16 to Week 52. In Period A, participants will be randomly placed into 2 groups to receive either subcutaneous risankizumab or oral apremilast for 16 weeks. In Period B, participants who received apremilast in Period A will again be randomly assigned to 1 of the 2 groups to receive either risankizumab or apremilast for 36 weeks. At weeks 28 and 40, participants considered non-responders to apremilast based on their psoriasis score will be offered to receive risankizumab. There may be a higher burden for participants in this study compared to usual standard of care. Participants will attend regular visits per routine clinical practice. The effect of the treatment will be checked by medical assessments, checking for side effects, and questionnaires.

NCT ID: NCT04895865 Completed - Health Behavior Clinical Trials

Repetition Prescription Approaches Delivered Via Videoconferencing

Start date: May 23, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

A randomized controlled trial comparing between two approaches of prescribing repetition-numbers in resistance training (RT) sessions on psychological, physiological, and performance outcomes. Sixty healthy and sedentary adults (age range: 18-45) will be randomly allocated to either the "predetermined" or "self-selected" groups. The groups will differ in the amount of choice they will be able to make concerning the resistance of each exercise and the number of repetitions they complete (see detailed description). Both groups will complete two sessions per week composed of body weight and resistance band exercises, lasting 45 minutes for eight weeks. The sessions will be delivered live by a certified instructor using a videoconferencing platform. The primary aim of this study is: Compare between the "predetermined" and the "self-selected" repetition prescription approaches on psychological, physiological, and performance outcomes in a cohort of 60 healthy and sedentary adults (age range: 18-45) over an eight-week period of live, videoconferencing RT sessions. The secondary aim is: Determine the influence of live, videoconferencing group RT sessions on psychological, physiological, and performance outcomes across groups.
