There are about 2333 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Ireland. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
Primary Objective: To compare the radiographic progression-free survival (rPFS) (using Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors [RECIST] 1.1 for tumor lesions and Prostate Cancer Working Group 2 (PCWG2) criteria for bone scan lesions or death due to any cause) with chemotherapy (cabazitaxel plus prednisone, Arm A) versus Androgen Receptor (AR)-targeted therapy (enzalutamide or abiraterone acetate plus prednisone, Arm B) in mCRPC participants who have been treated with docetaxel and who had disease progression while receiving AR-targeted therapy within 12 months of AR treatment initiation (less than or equal to [<=]12 months, either before or after docetaxel). Secondary Objective: - To compare efficacy for: - Prostate-specific antigen (PSA) response rate and time to PSA progression (TTPP). - Progression-free survival (PFS). - Overall survival (OS). - Tumor response rate and duration of tumor response. - Pain response and time to pain progression. - Symptomatic skeletal event (SSE) rate and time to occurrence of any SSE. - Health status and Health-related Quality of Life (HRQOL). - To evaluate the correlation of a signature of resistance to AR-targeted agents with clinical outcome via the analysis of circulating tumor cell (CTC) phenotypes as well as expression and localization of proteins including AR isoforms in CTCs. - To evaluate safety in the 2 treatment arms.
INSIGHT is a postmarket clinical follow-up study in the European Union. The purpose of the study is to continue to evaluate the safety and effectiveness/performance of INCRAFT in subjects with abdominal aortic aneurysms requiring endovascular repair in routine clinical practice. Approximately 150 subjects will be enrolled and followed through 5-years post procedure. Up to 25 sites in Europe may participate.
The aim of this study is to assess the efficacy and safety of single agent AZD9291 in a real world setting in adult patients with advanced or metastatic, epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) T790M mutation-positive Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC), who have received prior EGFR-tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) therapy.
Usage of antiplatelet agents and cardiac procedures such as coronary angioplasty has dramatically improved the morbidity and mortality associated with coronary artery disease. In patients with a coronary stent, dual antiplatelet therapy is recommended. Aspirin is the main antiplatelet agent used. For many years, clopidogrel was the second antiplatelet of choice. Recent studies have revealed new antiplatelet drugs that can substitute clopidogrel, one of which is ticagrelor. The degree to which ticagrelor reduced the overall mortality compared to clopidogrel in the PLATO trial suggested that ticagrelor possibly has a pleiotropic effect and that the reduction in mortality is not simply due to its antiplatelet effects. The ticagrelor molecule resembles adenosine. Adenosine has been shown to be cardioprotective. The aim of this project is to study the effects of ticagrelor on the arterial system using a noninvasive method. The study will employ the measurement of peripheral endothelial function of patients who undergo percutaneous coronary intervention who are on ticagrelor vs. clopidogrel using a cross over trial design.
The primary objectives of this study are to evaluate the efficacy, safety, and tolerability of switching abacavir/lamivudine (ABC/3TC) fixed-dose combination (FDC) tablets to emtricitabine/tenofovir alafenamide (F/TAF) FDC tablets versus maintaining ABC/3TC in human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) infected adults who are virologically suppressed on regimens containing ABC/3TC.
This study will help to determine whether frail older medical inpatients will benefit from targeted exercise sessions performed twice daily while in hospital. Half of the patients will complete targeted strengthening, balance and endurance exercises and the other half, stretching and relaxation exercises. The exercise sessions will be assisted and supported by a senior physiotherapist.
First experimental study (Proof Of Concept) to investigate bowel function parameters on which a fermented milk product with probiotics alone or in association with fibers has a potential effect.
The purpose of this study is to determine whether low level laser therapy is effective in the reduction of foot pain associated with diabetic peripheral neuropathy.
Anastomotic leak is a devastating complication of colorectal surgery. There is no widespread means of assessing the viability of a laparoscopic anastomosis. The investigators described recently the feasibility of microvascularisation assessment with near-infra red technology (NIR). The aim of this study is to look at the implementation of this technique in a wider prospective series of patients undergoing colorectal resection.
The primary efficacy objective for this study is to evaluate non-progression rate (NPR) at 18 weeks in participants with advanced solid tumors treated with atezolizumab, defined as the percentage of participants with complete response (CR), partial response (PR), or stable disease (SD) as assessed by the investigator according to Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors (RECIST) Version (v) 1.1, or according to disease-specific criteria for prostate cancer and malignant pleural mesothelioma.
