NCT ID: NCT01580475 Completed - Type 2 Diabetes Clinical Trials

Training, Detraining, Retraining and Glycemic Control in Patients With Type 2 Diabetes

Start date: September 2008
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

- This study examine the effects of training, detraining and retraining, using a combined strength and aerobic exercise program, on physiological parameters in patients with type 2 diabetes. - Thirteen women with type 2 diabetes followed a supervised aerobic and strength training program for 9 months, interrupted for 3 months (detraining) and resumed again for a period of 9 months (retraining). - Training improved body mass index, fasting plasma glucose, postprandial glucose, glycosylated hemoglobin, peak oxygen consumption, power output and total muscle strength. Detraining reversed PPG, HbA1C and physical fitness parameters. Resumption of training however, improved further the initial training adaptations. - Diabetic patients should follow a regular and uninterrupted exercise program throughout life in order to control glucose metabolism and improve health status.

NCT ID: NCT01576718 Completed - Asthma Clinical Trials

A Study of the Effectiveness and Safety of Different Doses of Fluticasone Propionate Taken From a Dry Powder Inhaler (Puffer) in Adolescents and Adults Who Have Asthma That is Not Controlled by High Dose Inhaled Corticosteroid Asthma Medications

Start date: April 2012
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

The primary objective of this study is to evaluate the dose response, efficacy and safety of 4 different doses of fluticasone propionate (50, 100, 200, and 400mcg) delivered as Fluticasone Spiromax® Inhalation Powder (Fp Spiromax) when administered twice daily in subjects 12 years of age and older with severe persistent asthma who are uncontrolled on high dose ICS therapy.

NCT ID: NCT01575795 Completed - Clinical trials for ST-elevation Myocardial Infarction

Standard (180mg) Versus Double (360mg) Loading Dose of Ticagrelor in Patients With ST-elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI), Undergoing Primary Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI)

Start date: April 2012
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

This is a multi-center, prospective, randomized, single-blind, investigator initiated, pharmacodynamic study of parallel design, performed at 3 institutions (Patras University Hospital; Evangelismos Athens General Hospital; Gennimatas Athens General Hospital). Patients with ST elevation myocardial infarction (symptom onset < 12 hours), undergoing primary percutaneous coronary intervention, who are antiplatelet naïve (Group A) or present high residual PR (defined as PRU ≥ 208) immediately before primary percutaneous coronary intervention, will be randomized after informed consent, in a 1:1 ratio to either: Ticagrelor 180mg loading dose (LD), followed by a 90mg x2 maintenance dose (MD )starting 12±6 hours post LD Or Ticagrelor 360mg loading dose (LD), followed by a 90mg x2 maintenance dose (MD) starting 12±6 hours post LD Platelet reactivity assessment will be performed at randomization (Hour 0) and at 0.5, 1, 2, 4 hours after randomization, using the VerifyNow assay, in platelet reactivity units (PRU). Documentation of major adverse cardiac events (death, myocardial infarction, stroke, urgent revascularization procedure with PCI or CABG) and bleeding (according to Bleeding Academic Research Consortium criteria) will be performed until patient's discharge.

NCT ID: NCT01572545 Completed - Clinical trials for Postmenopausal Osteoporosis

Comparative Effect of Zoledronic Acid Versus Denosumab on Serum Sclerostin of Postmenopausal Women With Low Bone Mass

DenoZol
Start date: April 2012
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The primary aim of the study is the comparative effect of zolendronic acid versus denosumab on serum sclerostin levels in postmenopausal women with low bone mass. Secondary aims are their comparative effect on serum dickkopf-1, osteoprotegerin, receptor activator of nuclear factor kappaB ligand (RANKL) and bone turnover markers (procollagen type I N-terminal peptide [PINP] and C-terminal cross-linking telopeptide of type I collagen [CTX]).

NCT ID: NCT01572415 Completed - Type 2 Diabetes Clinical Trials

Evaluation of SCOUT DS Device in the Diagnosis of Diabetes Mellitus

Start date: September 2011
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

The primary objective is to identify compare SCOUT DS to random capillary glucose for identification of at-risk subjects with dysglycemia defined by hemoglobin A1C ≥ 6.0%.

NCT ID: NCT01572038 Completed - Breast Neoplasms Clinical Trials

A Study of Pertuzumab in Combination With Trastuzumab (Herceptin) and a Taxane in First-Line Treatment in Participants With Human Epidermal Growth Factor 2 (HER2)-Positive Advanced Breast Cancer

PERUSE
Start date: June 1, 2012
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

This multicenter, open-label, single-arm, Phase IIIb study will evaluate the safety and tolerability of pertuzumab in combination with trastuzumab (Herceptin) and a taxane (docetaxel, paclitaxel or nab-paclitaxel) in first-line treatment in participants with metastatic or locally recurrent HER2-positive breast cancer. Participants will receive pertuzumab intravenously (IV) and trastuzumab (Herceptin) IV plus a taxane in cycles of 3 weeks each until predefined study end, unacceptable toxicity, withdrawal of consent, disease progression, or death, whichever occurs first.
