The goal is to compare a novel yellow laser, based on semiconductor technology, with traditional green laser, in the treatment of cheek telangiectasias. The trial design is randomized split-face double-blinded study with 20-30 volunteers. The improvement will be assessed using a 7-point Telangiectasia Grading Scale.
This study aims to asses whether the rate of surgical wound infections in vascular surgery procedures involving exposure of the proximal femoral artery can be reduced using a different skin closure technique.
The study is aimed to assess (a) the incidence of hyperoxia at the point of return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC) and (b) the role of arterial blood oxygen partial pressure to brain oxygenation during out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. 80 adult patients will be recruited in a physician staffed helicopter emergency medical services. Brain regional oxygen saturation and invasive blood pressure are monitored until hospital admission and arterial blood gases are analyzed immediately when the unit arrives to the patient and again at the time of ROSC.
The aim of the study is to assess the risk of urinary tract malignancies in patients initiating empagliflozin (free or fixed dose combination) compared to patients initiating a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor and to patients initiating other Sodium glucose co-transporter-2 (SGLT-2) inhibitors (i.e. two comparator groups)
It is difficult to predict which patients with acute small bowel obstruction require operative intervention and which ones can be handled conservatively. Similarly, strangulation remains difficult decision. The rationale for this observative study is to collect prospective cohort of patients with small bowel obstruction to create scoring system to predict early 1) small bowel obstruction resistant to conservative therapy, 2) strangulation.
The investigators have recently shown in incomplete SCI patients that long-term paired associative stimulation is capable of restoring voluntary control over some paralyzed muscles and enhancing motor output in the weak muscles (1,2). In this study, the investigators will administer long-term paired associative stimulation to patients with incomplete cervical level SCI and investigate its effectiveness for lower extremity rehabilitation.
This is purely observational study in which quality of invasive ventilation is observed with electrical impedance tomography (EIT) during perioperative intensive care. EIT parameters will be used to assess if protective ventilation strategies are successfully followed during routine care.
Electrical impedance tomography (EIT) is an evolving monitoring tool for respiratory support in neonatal and pediatric intensive care. In this observational study basic EIT parameters will be measured on 20 healthy newborn infants during spontaneous breathing and assess the effect of position changes in ventilation distribution.
MIN-117C03 is a 6-week, 3-arm, randomized, double-blind, placebo controlled study to investigate the safety and efficacy of MIN-117 in male and female patients with Major Depressive Disorder, aged 18 to 65 years. Approximately 324 patients were to be randomly assigned to 1 of 3 treatment arms, including placebo, 2.5 mg MIN-117, or 5.0 mg MIN-117, in a 2:1:1 ratio.
