This study was designed to compare the efficacy and safety of I-DXd with treatment of physician's choice in participants with relapsed small cell lung cancer (SCLC).
The aim of this research project is to anonymously survey pregnant patients before the anaesthesiological consultation about their prior knowledge of planned neuroaxial procedures in the context of childbirth by conducting an online survey and to evaluate the sources of that information.
Anaemia in pregnant women occurs at a haemoglobin (Hb) concentration <11 g/dL and treatment is essential to prevent increased maternal morbidity, fetal morbidity and mortality. Studies show a distinct risk of haemorrhage in pregnant women due to increased uterine dilatation, due to twins or macrosomic singletons. Currently, prepartum anaemia management, the influence of anaemia and the administration of foreign blood concentrates are insufficiently studied. The investigators intend to conduct a monocentric retrospective analysis of this subcohort.
This study assesses the performance of serum neurofilament light chain (sNfL) in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) in a wide range of disease courses, in terms of ALS progression, disease duration, and tracheostomy invasive ventilation (TIV). The aim of the research project is to investigate the correlation between NfL serum concentration and the natural course of the disease, the ALS progression rate, and specific phenotypes of ALS. Furthermore, the performance of NfL as a therapeutic biomarker will be studied. A systematic analysis of the NfL serum concentration in a cohort of 3,000 ALS patients using the Single Molecule Analysis method (SIMOA) will be performed. This analysis is carried out as a multi-center study.
Trial design: Phase II, prospective, multi-center, randomized, open label, parallel group study in patients with HR-positive, HER2-negative locally advanced or metastatic breast cancer with g/tBRCA1/2 or g/tPALB2 mutation, with 2:1 randomization into Arm A (niraparib + elacestrant) or arm B (niraparib). Treatment in either arm will be given until disease progression, unacceptable toxicity, withdrawal of patient´s consent to study participation, or end of study. Trial population: Patients with HR-positive, HER2-negative locally advanced or metastatic breast cancer with g/tBRCA1/2 or g/tPALB2 mutation, having received at least one prior line of chemotherapy or endocrine-based therapy for irresectable, locally advanced, or metastatic disease (or adjuvant treatment with CDK4/6 inhibitor therapy), with ECOG performance status of 0-2 and life expectancy of > 6 months, with normal bone marrow and kidney functions and no active or newly diagnosed central nervous system (CNS) metastases or symptomatic metastatic visceral disease at risk of life-threatening complications. Interventions: Patients randomized to Arm A will receive 200mg niraparib daily and 400mg elacestrant daily, while patients randomized to Arm B will receive 200mg niraparib daily. Blood tests (hematology, biochemistry) will be performed at the beginning of every cycle, and imaging for tumor assessment (chest and abdominopelvic imaging) as well as QoL assessments will be performed every three months and in case of suspicion of progression/end of study.
The study will investigate, if inflammatory and cardio-circulatory biochemical biomarkers are detectable in dermal interstitial fluid (dISF) of heart failure patients, and if there are detectable kinetics of these biomarkers during a cardiopulmonary exercise test. For dISF extraction the PELSA System - an investigational device - will be used.
This study is open to adults between 18 and 55 years of age with overweight or obesity. The purpose of this study is to find out whether a medicine called survodutide (BI 456906) has an effect on cardiac safety. When a new medicine is developed, it is important to check whether it affects the heart. Moxifloxacin is a medicine that is known to change the heart rhythm. In this study, moxifloxacin is used as a so-called positive control. Participants are put into 3 groups by chance. There is a different treatment schedule for each of the groups. All participants start with one placebo injection under their skin. The next day, depending on the group, participants take either moxifloxacin or placebo as a tablet. Then, for about 30 weeks, participants receive survodutide or placebo as an injection under their skin once a week. After this, they take again a single dose of moxifloxacin or placebo. Participants are in the study for up to 9 months. During this time, they visit the study site regularly. For 2 of the visits, participants stay at the study site for 2 nights. During these visits, the doctors collect information about participants' health. To assess the study endpoints, the study staff regularly performs ECG tests. The doctors also regularly check participants' health and take note of any unwanted effects.
Transient mild hypothermia (core body temperature 35-32°C) is common and usually without consequences for the brain or other organs. However, prolonged severe accidental hypothermia (core body temperature below 28°C) due to accidents is rare, and usually fatal in more than 50% of cases. Little is known on its physiopathology, on prognostic factors for rewarming decision or ideal rewarming techniques for better survival. Furthermore, complications after successful rewarming are extremely frequent and very often severe or fatal. Accidental hypothermia is a frequent problem during the winter months and can be caused by snow sport accidents, near drowning and urban cold exposure. The International Hypothermia Registry's principle goal is to increase knowledge on accidental hypothermia by creating the largest database on accidental hypothermia which will comprise enough patient data to give a statistical power since the causes of accidental hypothermia and its treatment varies greatly. The International Hypothermia Registry (IHR) will enable improvement of pre- and in-hospital treatment and rewarming methods, study survival predictors and prevention of post-rewarming complications. By this way, the IHR will permit the establishment of evidence-based diagnosis and treatment guidelines.
The study is being done to see if ziltivekimab can be used to treat participants living with heart failure and inflammation. Participants will either get ziltivekimab (active medicine) or placebo (inactive substance that looks like the study medicine but does not contain any medicine). The treatment participants get is decided by chance. Participant's chance of getting ziltivekimab or placebo is the same. Ziltivekimab is not yet approved in any country or region in the world. It is a new medicine that doctors cannot prescribe. The study is expected to last for up to 1 year and 4 months.
Pro-Health is a single-center, double-blind, randomized and placebo-controlled intervention study in healthy adults. The investigators address the effect of a dietary food supplementation of propionic acid on the immune system and the function of the intestinal barrier in healhty adults.
