Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

In this study, the efficacy and safety of nilotinib 400 mg twice daily, will be compared with imatinib 400 mg twice daily in patients with a suboptimal response to imatinib for their Philadelphia chromosome-positive (Ph+) Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia in the chronic phase (CML-CP).

NCT ID: NCT00507312 Terminated - Clinical trials for Cardiovascular Diseases

Assessment of Myocardial Disease in Man Using Novel Non-invasive Diagnostic Tools

Start date: October 2007
Phase: Phase 1
Study type: Interventional

This study will be testing two devices which are designed to detect cardiovascular disease in patients as early as possible. As there are now many therapies to prevent and treat this condition it is believed that detecting it early will help reduce the burden of the disease and permit more effective treatment. The two devices the investigators are testing are the ViScope developed by HD Medical and a device developed by CSIRO. Both of these devices are simple, non-invasive and may provide useful information on how well the heart contracts and relaxes as well as valve function of the heart. The investigators are planning to enroll 100 healthy subjects, 100 participants with risk factors for heart failure and 300 patients with varying types of heart failure. The data collected from the experimental devices will be compared to the results from standard tests. Patients will not have any of their therapies altered as part of this study.

A Randomised Study to Assess Betadine in the Groin Wound of Patients Undergoing Primary Varicose Vein Surgery

Start date: June 2004
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

To investigate whether Betadine can reduce infection rates and recurrence rates following varicose veins surgery in a randomized double blind placebo controlled study.

NCT ID: NCT00496158 Terminated - Hepatitis B Clinical Trials

Efficacy and Safety of Clevudine Compared With Adefovir in Patients With Chronic Hepatitis Due to Hepatitis B Virus

QUASH2
Start date: August 2007
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The objectives of this study are to compare in nucleoside treatment-naïve subjects, the efficacy and safety of clevudine 30 mg once daily versus adefovir 10 mg once daily, each as monotherapy, for 48 weeks, 72 weeks, and 96 weeks.

NCT ID: NCT00496002 Terminated - Hepatitis B Clinical Trials

Efficacy and Safety of Clevudine Compared With Adefovir in Patients With HBeAg Positive Chronic Hepatitis Due to Hepatitis B Virus

QUASH 1
Start date: August 2007
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The objectives of this study are to compare in nucleoside treatment-naïve subjects, the efficacy and safety of clevudine 30 mg once daily versus adefovir 10 mg once daily, each as monotherapy, for 48 weeks and 96 weeks.

NCT ID: NCT00494663 Terminated - Type 2 Diabetes Clinical Trials

A Phase 2b Study of DIO-902 or DIO-902 Placebo in Addition to Metformin and Atorvastatin or Atorvastatin Placebo for Type 2 Diabetes

Start date: July 2007
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

DiObex Inc. is developing an experimental drug (DIO-902) that is made up of part of the ketoconazole molecule for the treatment of elevated blood glucose associated with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Ketoconazole (Nizoral®) is a drug available by prescription for the treatment of fungal infections however DIO-902 is an investigational drug. DIO-902 may lower blood glucose by lowering levels of a naturally occurring hormone called cortisol. Elevated cortisol may contribute to the development of type 2 diabetes. The purpose of this research study is to test the safety of DIO-902 when taken by mouth with metformin and the cholesterol-lowering drug atorvastatin to determine the type and severity of any side effects from this treatment. Other purposes of the study are to see how the treatment affects your blood glucose levels, cholesterol levels, blood pressure, and waist circumference.

NCT ID: NCT00490568 Terminated - Alzheimer's Disease Clinical Trials

Open-Label Extension Study Of Rosiglitazone XR As Adjunctive Therapy In Subjects With Mild-to-Moderate Alzheimers

Start date: August 8, 2007
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

This is a Phase III, multicenter, open-label extension, single-group study in male and female outpatients with mild-to-moderate Alzheimer's disease (AD) who have completed either AVA102670 or AVA102672. All subjects will receive rosiglitazone extended-release (RSG XR) 4mg once daily for the first 4 weeks of the study followed by 8mg RSG XR as adjunctive therapy to their existing dose of acetylcholinesterase inhibitor. Subject participation will last until one of 5 conditions applies. After a 52-week open-label treatment phase, subjects will attend a final Follow-Up Visit 6 weeks after the end of treatment. The primary objective of this study is to evaluate the long-term safety and tolerability of RSG XR in subjects with mild-to-moderate AD who have completed either AVA102670 or AVA102672. The secondary objective of this study is to explore further the long-term efficacy of RSG XR in terms of cognitive function and overall clinical response as a function of apolipoprotein E (APOE) e4 allele status.

NCT ID: NCT00486759 Terminated - B-cell Lymphoma Clinical Trials

A Study of Bevacizumab (Avastin) in Combination With Rituximab (MabThera) and CHOP (Cyclophosphamide, Hydroxydaunorubicin [Doxorubicin], Oncovin [Vincristine], Prednisone) Chemotherapy in Patients With Diffuse Large B-cell Lymphoma

Start date: July 2007
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

This 2-arm study was designed to compare the efficacy and safety of bevacizumab (Avastin) in combination with rituximab (MabThera) and CHOP (cyclophosphamide, hydroxydaunorubicin [doxorubicin], Oncovin [vincristine], prednisone) chemotherapy (R-CHOP) versus rituximab plus CHOP chemotherapy (R-CHOP) in previously untreated patients with CD20-positive diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL). Patients were randomized to receive 8 cycles of treatment with R-CHOP plus bevacizumab or R-CHOP plus placebo. Treatment with bevacizumab/placebo and R-CHOP was given either on a 2-week or 3-week schedule and bevacizumab was given at a weekly average dose of 5 mg/kg (10 mg/kg for 2-week cycles and 15 mg/kg for 3-week cycles).
