Filter by:This study follows an observational prospective cohort design. Women with fetal structural anomalies are routinely offered diagnostic testing with chorionic villus sampling or amniocentesis, with analysis for chromosomal analysis using karyotype or microarray analysis. Women in whom such testing does not explain the fetal phenotype, or in whom a genetic disease is strongly suggested based on the phenotype or a pattern of recurrent anomalies, will be offered exome sequencing (ES) and/or genome sequencing (GS) through the UCSF CLIA certified Genomic Medicine Laboratory. In advance of study enrollment, patients have been counseled regarding the structural anomalies in the fetus and offered pregnancy termination. The sequencing results for on-going pregnancies have a turnaround time of 2-4 weeks, and in the majority of cases are available after decisions have been made regarding continuation or termination of pregnancy. Patients who decline diagnostic testing but who have a prenatally identified anomaly may be offered the option of testing on umbilical cord blood at delivery or on the placenta or other products of conception after a stillbirth or pregnancy termination. The project is exploratory in nature, with the ultimate goal of contributing to a growing body of phenotypic data and understanding how providers and patients utilize genomic (either exome or genome) sequencing results during pregnancy.
The most commonly used anesthetic for general anesthesia in pediatric patients is sevoflurane, an inhalation anesthetic. However, the incidence of emergence agitation after sevoflurane anesthesia in pediatric patients is high, with reports of up to 67%. Remimazolam (Byfavo Inj., Hana Pharm Col, Ltd., Seoul, Korea) has a short context-sensitive half-life of 7.5 minutes, and the time it takes from the end of anesthesia until the patient wakes up is predictable. According to a study by Yang X et al., administering a small amount of remimazolam (0.2 mg/kg) intravenously at the end of general anesthesia using sevoflurane reduced the incidence of emergence agitation. However, very few studies have evaluated the use of remimazolam in general anesthesia in pediatric patients.
Using data from a population-based medicine use cohort in Xiamen, China, this retrospective cohort study will investigate whether herbal medicines used to prevent miscarriage are associated with increased risk of birth defects.
This is a multi-site research study with an optional research repository that will consist of clinically derived data and photographic or video images of patients in the home setting with complex health conditions to evaluate the safety and efficacy of the CHAMP® software platform, with data and photographic or video images input and/or uploaded by the parent or other legally authorized representative (LAR) of patients with complex congenital heart disease as a target population.
The goal of this observational is to compare in describing fetal health conditions. The main questions it aims to answer are: - fetal electrocardiogram (fetal heart rate and fetal rhythm) - electrohysterography (uterine contractions). Participants will wear wearable devices and CTG equipment for monitoring for 30 minutes. If there is a comparison group: Researchers will compare clinical CTG equipment to see if this wearable device.
Evaluation of postoperative outcomes of Chiari type I Malformation Patients at Department of Neurosurgery Assiut University Hospital .
Background: Throughout the history of spinal deformity there have been continuous advances in the surgical treatment. Although many techniques have been successfully developed despite the anatomy complex, screw placement still remains difficult with a significant risk of misplaced implants. The O-ARM guided Navigation is a scanner that allows imaging of screws intraoperatively and could be a tool to facilitate screw revision and reduce the occurrence of misplaced implants. Methods: This is a prospective and randomized clinical study that will be carried out at the University Hospital of the Federal University of Piaui, which provides exclusive assistance to patients of the Unified Health System (UHS), in northeastern Brazil.
Chiari malformation corresponds to the herniation of cerebellar tonsils into the foramen magnum resulting in obstruction of cerebrospinal fluid circulation, which may eventually lead to the formation of an intramedullary cavity called syringomyelia. Chiari and syringomyelia can be responsible of variable symptoms, based on which neurosurgeons might propose surgical treatment. Yet, there is no properly developped and validated patient reported outcome measure (PROM) to assess the clinical severity of Chiari malformation and/or syringomyelia. The lack of such evaluation tool is a major issue to determine the optimal therapeutic strategy and to achieve a standardized and reproducible follow-up.
Every year more than 50 million people worldwide are injured due to RTAs which in turn makes it one of the leading causes of disability. During automobile collisions, the lower limbs are the most commonly injured region of the human body. Ankle injuries can be particularly long-lasting, resulting in excessive medical costs, inability to work, and serious psychological distress. Physiotherapists often contribute to the rehabilitation of ankle fractures, which typically starts soon after the period of immobilization. Joint mobilization led to increased ankle movement, improved gait patterns, reduced pain and the number of treatment sessions required, and hastened return to activities when compared with the usual rest, ice, compression, and elevation protocol.
Pectus deformities are common anterior chest wall pathologies. Pectus excavatum is the most common chest deformity with an incidence of 0.1-0.3%. Although the incidence of adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS) is 0.2-3% in the community, some studies show that this rate rises to 17.61-25.58% when it is associated with pectus deformity. While the pectus excavatum rotates the heart to the left with its ribs and cartilages, it pushes the thoracic vertebra to the right side with the internal counterforce created by the heart, which has been shown to push the spine to the right with an asymmetric horizontal force in scoliosis patients with pectus deformity. Based on this, in study, investigators aimed to determine whether there is any relationship between pectus deformities and spinal pathologies, and if there is a relationship, with which pathology it is most common, whether the type of scoliosis seen in pectus deformities with a prominent scoliosis prevalence is a pectus-specific curve, and whether this curve seen in scoliosis is associated with pectus. To determine whether there is a footprint or not.
