Performing Laparoscopic Surgery for Colorectal and Gastric Cancer Outside the Primary Registered Medical Institution

Start date: October 20, 2021
Phase:
Study type: Observational

This study investigates the safety and feasibility of performing laparoscopic surgery for colorectal and gastric cancer inside versus outside the primary registered medical institution under multi-sites practice (MSP) policy. This is a single practitioner, retrospective comparative study. The endpoints are peri-operative outcomes, pathological results, and medical costs.

NCT ID: NCT04810299 Completed - Colorectal Cancer Clinical Trials

Effect of Aromatherapy Massage on Symptom Control

Start date: April 16, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Although the incidence of colorectal cancers is high, it is often possible to treat it when diagnosed at an early stage. Although the treatment options vary according to many factors such as the type and stage of the cancer, possible side effects, the preference of the patient, and the general health status, surgery stands out as the most commonly used treatment method. However, in addition to the methods and drugs used in the diagnosis and treatment process, temporary or permanent stomas that are opened to ensure discharge cause biopsychosocial effects on the life of the individual and lead to deterioration of the quality of life. In this context, knowing and resolving the problems experienced by patients in the pre-operative and post-surgical period, which is the most commonly used treatment method, will also increase the quality of life of patients. In the literature, it was stated that patients experienced high levels of anxiety before colorectal surgery and this situation caused emotional and cognitive reactions; in the postoperative period, it is seen that they experience many problems such as anxiety, restlessness, fatigue, gastrointestinal dysfunction, pain, loss of control (inability to control gas and stool output), decreased appetite, insomnia, nausea-vomiting, abdominal distension, constipation. However, modern treatment methods, drug and non-drug treatments used to control these symptoms are not effective in some cases. At this stage, complementary and alternative medicine applications come into play, one or more of these methods are used to alleviate symptoms and increase well-being during traditional treatments. In this study, it was planned to evaluate the effect of aromatherapy massage after colorectal surgery on postoperative symptom control (pain, anxiety, fatigue, sleep quality, nausea-vomiting, flatulence).

NCT ID: NCT04803305 Completed - Breast Cancer Clinical Trials

to determine screening value of stool-based SDC2 DNA methylation test for advanced colorectal neoplasia in the asymptomatic Chinese community population.

NCT ID: NCT04776837 Completed - Colorectal Cancer Clinical Trials

Predicting Disease Progression and/or Recurrence in Cancer

Start date: May 15, 2019
Phase:
Study type: Observational

This is a prospective study addressing the challenge of predicting disease progression and/or recurrence in patients diagnosed with metastatic colorectal, pancreatobiliary, or esophagogastric cancer that are receiving anti-cancer therapy.

NCT ID: NCT04766060 Completed - Colorectal Cancer Clinical Trials

Indocyanine Green Fluorescent Imaging in Robotic Assisted Rectosigmoidal Resection; a Multicenter Assessment of Interobserver Variation and Comparison With Computer-based Pixel Analysis

Start date: April 1, 2017
Phase:
Study type: Observational

A serious complication to colorectal surgery is anastomotic leakage (AL). AL increases post-operative mortality, decreases long-term survival, reduces the functional result and reduces qual-ity of life. Studies suggest that performing an indocyanine-green enhanced fluorescent angi-ography (ICGeFA), blood perfusion in the bowel can be visualised. It is suggested that using this procedure the relative risk of AL is reduced about 54-67%. With this project we wish to evaluate the feasibility of the procedure, and, if proven feasible, to plan further studies evaluating the procedure.

NCT ID: NCT04763824 Completed - Breast Cancer Clinical Trials

KanSurvive: Testing a Model for Improving Cancer Survivorship Care in Rural Practice

KANSURVIVE
Start date: November 18, 2020
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Approximately, 20 rural primary care practices to participate in a delayed intervention-controlled trial. Phase I: Formal and structured work flow evaluations to better identify specific gaps in processes of care while assessing what on-going training is needed for adoption of high-quality cancer survivorship care in rural practice. These will be incorporated into the ECHO sessions (Aim 1). Phase II: Conduct and test the effectiveness of the novel KanSurvive-ECHO intervention (Aim 2) and finally identify barriers and facilitators to implementation of KanSurvive-ECHO (Aim 3).

NCT ID: NCT04749589 Completed - Colorectal Cancer Clinical Trials

Start date: February 11, 2021
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The aim is to investigate if iron deficiency at the time of colorectal cancer diagnosis has an influence on fatigue, quality of life, cognition and physical ability.

The Effect of Wound Problems Wound Dressing in Patients With Colorectal Cancer Surgery

Start date: November 18, 2018
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This study was conducted as a randomized controlled trial in order to determine the effect of prophylactic negative pressure wound therapy for the prevention of surgical site complications in high-risk colorectal cancer surgery. Hypothesis: Prophylactic negative pressure wound therapy applied after open colorectal cancer surgery to high-risk patients affects surgical wound complications. pNBYT group: The study was completed with a total of 50 patients, 24 of intervention group anda 26 of the control group, who met the inclusion criteria at the surgical oncology service of a university hospital. The data were collected using Patient Identification Form, Surgical Procedure Form, Wound Follow-up Chart and ASEPSÄ°S Wound Scoring System. Ethics committee approval and written informed consent of the individuals was taken in the research. The data were analyzed in SPSS Statistics 24.0 program using Shapiro Wilk test and Q-Q graphs, Independent Sample t test, Mann Whitney U test, Chi-square, Cochran's Q and Friedman test. The value of p<0.05 was accepted for the statistical significance level. It was determined that the groups were similar in terms of identification and surgical procedure characteristics.
