Filter by:The purpose of this study aimed to evaluate the effect of the three-month Chan-Chung qigong program in improving physical functional performance and quality of life in patients with mild to moderate cognitive impairments.A quasi-experimental design was adopted. Subjects were recruited from cognitive impairments outpatients these subjects,41were assigned to the control group and 41 to the experimental group in which Chan-Chuang qigong was administered.
Some patients with subjective cognitive decline (SCD) progress to neurocognitive disorders (NCD), whereas others remain stable; however, the neuropsychological determinants of this progression have not been identified. The investigators objective was to examine baseline neuropsychological indicators that could discriminate between people in whom the SCD progressed to a mild or major NCD and people in whom the SCD remained stable. The investigators retrospectively included patients consulting for SCD at a university medical center's memory center (Amiens, France) and who had undergone three or more neuropsychological assessments at least 6 months apart. The relationship between domain-specific scores and the global cognitive score (GCS, as a function of final status (stable SCD vs. progression toward a mild or major NCD)) was examined using a generalized linear mixed model.
The main objective of the proposed study is to evaluate the impact of coronavirus (2019-nCoV), hereafter COVID -19, on patients' loss of functional capacity after completion of hospital treatment. Specifically, the research will focus on examining changes in musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, and respiratory function, as well as motor control. In addition, we aim to evaluate rehabilitation treatments after recovery from COVID -19 and consider additional preventive measures based on previous experience.

This research aims to evaluate the effect of cognitive stimulation (CS) on the functioning of the prefrontal cortex (PFC), seeking an analysis of both cerebral hemodynamics in neuroplasticity and aspects related to the initiation of neurodegenerative processes. The intervention presents an individual format and the participants are elderly without or with neurocognitive disorders (NCD). Concretely, to assess the effects of individual CS on global cognition, and mood, as well as to analyze neuronal activity with oxygenation, volume and blood flow in the brain, evaluating the impact of cognitive stimulation on brain hemodynamics. Participants in the intervention group receive two 45 min-session of CS per week for 12 weeks in addition to their treatment as usual. Participants in the control group will maintain their treatment as usual.
This research aims to evaluate the ability of individual reminiscence therapy (RT), using a simple reminiscence format, to improve the overall cognitive function, memory, emotional status and quality of life (QoL) of older adults with neurocognitive disorders (NCD) attending social care and support services. A multicentre randomised controlled trial (RCT) is proposed in Azores archipelago with repeated measures (pre-intervention, post-intervention and follow-up). Intervention group will hold 26 individual RT sessions, twice a week for 13 weeks. Control group participants will maintain their treatment as usual. Make a subsample analysis of the main clinical diagnoses, and compare the results of sample and subsample with a previous study that had the same intervention protocol.
The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of dairy-based probiotics on cognitive function, emotional wellbeing, and inflammation. Subjects were assigned to either consume 6 oz of yogurt/day or abstain from consuming yogurt and other probiotic-containing foods for 12 weeks. Subjects completed baseline testing and 12-week follow-up testing consisting of a laboratory blood draw to assess inflammatory biomarkers, and a computerized assessment to evaluate cognitive and emotional wellbeing measures.
The overarching aim is to develop and deploy a multidomain intervention delivered on a mobile application to help older adults reduce their risk for dementia by improving a set of modifiable lifestyle risk factors associated with cognitive decline/dementia. The targeted domains are physical activity, diet, and cognitively stimulating activity. This registration concerns the Proof-of-concept study which will examine if individual parts of the intervention program achieve a clinically significant degree of change in the targeted behavioral risk outcomes. It is expected that following the program, at least 50% of participants will show evidence of a clinically significant degree of change in the behavioral risk outcome targeted by the intervention, when compared to baseline.
This purpose of this study is to examine an aggressive method of blood pressure control that involves home blood pressure monitoring and management of medications by a team of clinical pharmacists in coordination with a primary care physician.
