Filter by:There are few applications available in the community to help teenagers manage pain after surgery. The focus of this study is to better understand the pain experience of children after having surgery and to design a Smartphone app called "iCanCope with Post-Operative Pain" (iCanCope PostOp), to help children and parents to better manage pain at home after surgery. The app will help keep track of pain, provide information about the teenager's surgery and provides "in-the-moment" advice wherever and whenever the patient needs it.
This will be a prospective randomized controlled trial with sixty adults, 20 to 40 years of age. There will be three groups as follows: the normal group, control group, and intervention group where subjects will receive instructions for home use of TENS for pain reduction. The aim is for an equal distribution of males and females in each group.

In the context of the care of children or adolescents with unexplained chronic pain, it is not uncommon to find that some patients confide in past or present school bullying. School bullying can have devastating consequences. Often taboo or not taken into account, it can lead to school phobia with dropout, extreme moral suffering or even reactive physical disorders. Loss of confidence, withdrawal into oneself can develop major depressive syndromes that can lead to suicidal thoughts and acting out. The Mouv'on project offers these children/adolescents the opportunity to experience the art of movement, on the border between martial arts and dance (group sessions) and creative art (production of a street-art fresco) in order to regain confidence, restore the link to the other, discover or re-discover the relationship to the body. It is indeed a parenthesis of relaxation, movement, breathing and meeting. The meeting of the child with himself but also with a group. The objectives of the study are to assess the benefits of the workshops offered to children and adolescents on self-esteem and on the feeling of pain and the impact of pain on daily behavior.
Non spesific cervical pain syndromes are the most common cervical pathologies encountered in clinical practice. Non spesific cervical pain syndrome occurs as a result of postural deformities. Massage and mobilization techniques are used in the treatment of Non spesific cervical pain syndrome due to their analgesic effects. The Cyriax mobilization technique is a manual therapy method applies to correct the limitation of movement in the joint and to relieve pain and functional disorders. Many studies have shown that Cyriax mobilization technique provides faster and momentary painless joint movement compared to other physical therapy modalities. Cervical mobilisation techniques also have regulator effect on autonomic nerve system. Cervical mobilisation also has positive effects on anxiety and tension.
Chronic shoulder pain is a common musculoskeletal pain condition that can have a profound impact on a sufferer's life and a large socioeconomic healthcare burden to society. The aim of this study was to determine the feasibility of delivering telemedicine enabled functional shoulder rehabilitation for chronic shoulder pain patients using immersive virtual reality. Ten chronic shoulder pain patients were recruited from local pain clinics. Patients engaged in three sessions of virtual embodiment training per week over the course of eight weeks. Rehabilitation sessions were delivered on an Oculus Quest head-mounted display and hand controllers. Rehabilitation exercises (virtual embodiment training) leverage techniques from graded motor imagery, such as visual mirror feedback and augmentation of the virtual avatar's movements. Eight pain assessments were administered prior to the first session, and at weeks four and eight to get an indication of the effect that telemedicine delivered virtual embodiment training has on symptoms of chronic shoulder pain.
The investigators aim to conduct a fully powered randomized controlled trial to compare the efficacy of two symptom management programs for older adults with early cognitive decline (either self-reported or confirmed by testing) and chronic pain, Active Brains 1 and Active Brains 2. The investigators will assess how each program may help in improving multimodal physical, cognitive and emotional function. The investigators will also assess whether improvements in outcomes from the two programs are maintained through 6-months follow-up. The investigators will also explore whether improvements in outcomes are mediated by nonadaptive pain reactions, adaptive coping, social factors and compensatory strategies and modified by demographic and clinical predictors. Both programs will be delivered virtually (Zoom).
The research will be conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of the web-based chronic pain management training program developed for nursing students. It is planned in a randomized controlled triple-blind design with the final year nursing students of the Nursing Department of Çankırı Karatekin University in a pre-test-post-test order.
