Filter by:Much effort over the last several decades has been devoted to developing and implementing psychoeducational interventions for family caregiving partners for those with Alzheimer's and relatedm dementias (ADRD). However, few interventions address the specific needs of care partners for those with frontotemporal degeneration (FTD). This study tests an intervention to support family caregivers for those with FTD.
This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of home care planned according to Orem on self-care agency and care burden in brain tumor patients and their caregivers. The study was performed with patients who underwent surgery for a brain tumor and their caregivers in the neurosurgery clinic of a tertiary hospital. Ethical committee approval, institutional permission, patients and their caregiver verbal and written consent were obtained. According to Orem's nursing theory, home care practice combining education, counseling and nursing care started with pre-operative education in the hospital for the patients and caregivers in the intervention group and continued at home with 5 home visits in a 6-month period. Self-Care Agency Scale, MD Anderson Symptom Inventory Brain Tumor-Turkish Form and Caregiver Burden Scale were used as measurement tools in the study.The value of p<0.05 was accepted statistically significant in the data analyses.

EYE-TAR(AD+) is an observational study based on the same design as the princeps EYE-TAR(MA) study, but with a larger number of patients and including an additional evaluation of Facial emotion recognition (based on a more ecological material), in order to reinforce conclusions of the study EYE-TAR(MA) https://doi.org/10.1016/j.npg.2020.08.003. The main objective is to confirm that facial emotion recognition can be improved in AD using the "Training of Affect Recognition program" (TAR). The Secondary Objectives are to: Evaluate the impact of the "Training of Affect Recognition program" (TAR) on oculomotor behavior in a situation of social cognition, on behavioral disorders and on caregiver burden. Confirm that improvement in facial emotion recognition is related to modification of observation strategies. Confirm the link between improved recognition of facial emotions, reduced behavioral disorders and caregiver burden.
EYE-TAR(MA)-Follow-Up is a non-interventionel, long-term follow-up study in subjects who participated to the study referred as EYE-TAR(MA) (NCT04730440) EYE-TAR(MA)-Follow-Up aims to evaluate the long-term impacts of the Training of Affect Recognition TAR (an emotion recognition rehabilitation program), on social cognition abilities, evolve gaze strategies, behavioral disorders, and the caregiver's burden in Alzheimer's disease (AD). Subjects who completed EYE-TAR(MA) study, and who have signed informed consent for this follow-up, will be eligible to enroll. They will attend one visit two years post EYE-TAR(MA) study intervention (intervention was TAR, or a "classic" cognitive stimulation program) to undergo the following evaluation: Eye-tracking recording during Ekman Faces task, Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE), Neuropsychiatric Inventory (NPI), Zarit scale (completed by caregiver).

Disability is not only a mental or physical health problem, but also a social problem. Having a disabled child and the type of disability present various difficulties to parents in the course of life. The difficulties in the care and education of these children are based on psychological, physical, social, economic and cultural realities.Families with diseases such as Cerebral Palsy (SP), Spina Bifida (SB), Muscular Dystrophy (MD), Down Syndrome (DS) are among them. Having a disabled child in the community can affect families in different ways. Every step of the education of disabled children (purpose, principle, education plan, game, school and family duties, etc.) is important for the disabled individual, family, teacher and society.
The fact that an individual has a physical, social or mental disability affects not only the individual, but also the close environment of the individual and even the society in which he lives. Those who are most affected by this situation in the society are undoubtedly the caregivers. Caregivers of individuals with disabilities experience more anxiety than other caregivers, spare less time for themselves, and participate in less physical and social activities. As a result of social, physical and emotional burdens on parents and other caregivers of disabled individuals, low quality of life, unhealthy family function and negative psychological conditions are observed in caregivers, especially stress. Problems related to financial situation, exclusion from social environment, psychological state, sense of burnout and educational status are among the other problems experienced by caregivers. The aim of this study; The aim of this study is to examine the effects of technology supported yoga applied to caregivers of individuals with special needs on care burden, quality of life and psychological well-being. Research data will be collected from the caregivers of individuals with special needs registered in a Guidance and Research Center in a province. The data of the study will be collected using the Socio-demographic Data Collection Form, the Caregiver Burden Scale, the Multidimensional Quality of Life Scale, and the Warwick-Edinburgh Mental Well-Being Scale. The study is in a randomized controlled design. SPSS 25.0 program will be used in the data analysis of the research. Descriptive data will be analyzed using number, percentage, mean, standard deviations. Spearman test will be applied to determine the correlations between the scale scores. of groups Homogeneity in terms of descriptive statistics will be analyzed with the Kolmogorov Smirnov Test. Student t or Mann Whitney U tests will be used to compare numerical data in two independent groups, and One-way ANOVA or Kruskal Wallis tests will be used for comparisons in more than two independent groups. Relationships between categorical variables will be tested with chi-square test and relationships between numerical variables will be tested with correlation coefficient. The significance level will be accepted as 0.05. The power and effect size of the study will be calculated by regression analysis.
