Filter by:The objective of this study was to observe and evaluate the efficacy and safety of hexapopal ethanolamine tablets in the treatment of synchronous/sequential radioimmunoinduced thrombocytopenia in the real world. The subjects of this study were patients with solid malignant tumors who had received radioimmunoinduced thrombocytopenia. This study will retrospectively and prospectively collect real-world data related to investigational drugs, and will observe 500 patients to observe the diagnosis and treatment pattern of radiochemo-induced thrombocytopenia. The study included a screening period (no more than one week) and a treatment period (at least two cycles).Participants meeting protocol inclusion criteria were defined as having platelet values < 100×109/L during radioimmunotherapy.
Therapeutic advances have significantly improved the survival of patients with cancer. However, these novel therapies are associated with a concomitant increase in the prevalence of toxicity, including cardiovascular complications of cancer therapy. Among these adverse drug reactions, heart failure and, more generally, cancer therapy-related cardiac dysfunction are the most concerning cardiovascular complications of cancer therapy, carrying a high morbidity burden and an elevated risk of death. Patients with both heart failure and cancer have a worse prognosis when compared with heart failure patients with no history of cancer. It is therefore crucial to enhance the identification of patients at a higher risk of cancer therapy-related cardiac dysfunction both before and during treatment, especially when utilizing cancer therapies with known potential cardiovascular adverse drug reactions. The explosion of new anticancer drugs has led to the potential association of these therapies with cardiac dysfunction. Using VigiBase, the World Health Organization's (WHO) global pharmacovigilance database, the investigators aimed to assess the relationship between cancer therapy-related cardiac dysfunction and the administration of anti-cancer drugs.
Breast cancer is the most common cancer in the United Kingdom (UK), but improvements in treatment mean 3 in 4 people survive for more than 10 years. Many people receive treatments called human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) targeted therapies for their breast cancer, however these can affect heart function. This 'cardiotoxicity' is generally temporary and mild, but patients receive drugs to help their heart recover. Currently it is not known how long patients should receive these treatments. Patients with other types of heart failure are treated lifelong, but this may not be necessary here as the damaging cancer drugs have stopped. Taking drugs for many years can have an impact on people's quality of life, particularly for young patients. It is therefore important to understand the best treatment length. The investigators will study people whose heart function has recovered after HER2 therapy heart problems and are not at high risk for heart disease. The investigators will carefully stop their heart drugs whilst monitoring them closely with special heart scans and blood tests to detect problems early. The investigators will also study how patients are currently treated using national data. The results of this study will help doctors better guide breast cancer survivors about treatment of heart damage from HER2 cancer therapies.
The goal of this clinical trial is to compare in resectable liver metastases colorectal cancer patients.The main question it aims to answer is to investigate whether the progression-free survival (PFS) of resectable colorectal liver metastasis (CRLM) patients with positive ctDNA after surgery is superior with the combination of adjuvant chemotherapy and maintenance therapy compared to adjuvant chemotherapy alone.
About 20%-70% of breast cancer survivors experience fatigue after cancer therapy. Because epidemiologic evidence shows that old age is a risk factor for fatigue in adults with cancer history, older breast cancer survivors suffer from even more fatigue than younger survivors. The purpose of this study is to test types of walking exercise interventions and their ability to reduce fatigue in older breast cancer survivors.
Breast cancer is the most commonly cancer in women in the overall global population. According to the World Cancer Research Fund International, there were more than 2.25 million new cases of breast cancer in women in 2020. Although the modern treatment strategies, based on the complex care, which consists of surgery, radiotherapy, hormone therapy, and targeted chemotherapy directed at specific cancer molecules have substantially reduced the risk of death due to breast cancer, their wide adoption results in the wider prevalence of cardiotoxicity, defined as either symptomatic heart failure, or asymptomatic contractile dysfunction. The occurrence of cardiotoxicity induced by anti-cancer therapies is estimated at 5-15%, and its development is the primary cause of therapy termination, which significantly reduces the probability of the efficacy of treatment. Several attempts have been made to determine the efficacious preventive strategy, which could diminish the risk of cancer-therapy induced cardiotoxicity. The results of the prior studies indicated a trend towards lower risk of troponin elevation, or left ventricular contractile dysfunction with the introduction of drugs interfering with the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone (RAA) axis, which constitute the primary treatment modality in heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF). Sacubitril/valsartan, the novel therapeutic agent, has been demonstrated to significantly improve prognosis in patients with HFrEF. Prior retrospective, small, single-center studies have shown that treatment with sacubitril/valsartan may reduce the risk of cancer-therapy induced cardiotoxicity, or reverse contractile dysfunction caused by anti-cancer therapy. However, no large randomized data confirmed these findings. Therefore, the Sacubitril/Valsartan in PriMAry preventIoN of the cardiotoxicity of systematic breaST canceR trEAtMent) study, has been designed to verify, whether the preventive use of sacubitril/valsartan administered in the doses recommended in patients with HFrEF in breast cancer patients undergoing adjuvant chemotherapy with anthracyclines or anthracyclines and HER-2 monoclonal antibodies, will reduce the incidence of cardiotoxicity defined as impaired left ventricular systolic function on cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). In the trial, a total of 480 patients with histologically confirmed breast cancer, who are eligible for chemotherapy with anthracyclines or anthracyclines and HER-2 monoclonal antibodies, will undergo 1:1 randomization to either preventive treatment with sacubitril/valsartan or placebo. The patients will be followed for 24 months, and will have repetitive efficacy and safety examinations, including echocardiography, MRI, electrocardiography including 24-h Holter monitoring, blood tests, functional capacity tests and quality of life assessment.
Clínica Universidad de Navarra Proton Therapy Unit is establishing a registry to capture the full radiation dosimetry delivered to the patient, baseline clinical data, and disease, toxicity and quality of life outcomes. The objectives are parameters prescribed and to have all patients treated at the proton therapy unit to be included in the registry to enable future analysis of treatment outcomes to assist in understanding, which patients can benefit from the use of protons.
Patients diagnosed with breast cancer who received assisted radiotherapy were recruited and the transcutaneous auricular vagus nerve stimulation (taVNS) was applied. The aim of of study is : 1) to study whether taVNS could improve the patient's fatigue, quality of life under radiotherapy or chemotherapy; 2) to investigate the effects of taVNS on the levels of patients' lymphocyte subsets and proinflammatory cytokines.
The Johns Hopkins Proton Therapy center is establishing a registry to capture the full 3D radiation dosimetry delivered to the patient, baseline clinical data, and disease, toxicity and quality of life outcomes. The goal is to have all patients treated at the proton center to be included in the registry to enable future comparisons of treatment outcomes to assist in understanding which patients can benefit from the use of protons.
This study will collect data on Canadian cancer patients that have uncommon/rare changes in their tumours, such as alterations/rearrangements in the genetic material inside cells - known as deoxyribonucleic acid, or DNA, which acts as a map and gives directions to the cells on how to make other substances the body needs - because some of these changes have been found to respond to different drugs that help to stop the cancer. These rare changes occur in genes such as but not limited to ALK, EGFR, ROS1, BRAF, and NTRK which have targeted drugs in a family known as tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs), and KRAS G12C mutation, which now has a targeted inhibitor drug therapy for patients with non small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). The goals for the study are to compare the natural history of such cancers and the treatment outcomes, including toxicities and patient-reported outcomes, for the different therapies.
