Axillary Node Dissection w or w/o LVB in Node Positive Breast Cancer Patients

Lymphedema is a devastating complication of breast cancer surgery that decreases the quality of life of up to 40% of breast cancer survivors. Most lymphedema in breast cancer patients is because lymphatics shared between the axilla and the arm are sacrificed during axillary lymph node dissection (ALND) surgery, which removes an average of 15 lymph nodes in node positive patients. CCF's breast cancer plastic microvascular surgeons and breast surgical oncologists have collaborated to refine a surgical technique known as LVB that may be used either as a preventive measure (prophylactic LVB) or as a therapeutic intervention (therapeutic LVB). Lymphatic reconstruction with LVB may be an improvement to the current standard of care for node positive breast cancer patients undergoing ALND.

Chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) is a common side effect in breast cancer patients with completion of chemotherapy, and that is characterized by associated clinical symptoms such as pain, tingling, numbness, and paresthesia etc. CIPN also interferes with patients' functions of daily living and leads to chronic functional decline and a reduced quality of life. Meridian yoga is beneficial to the treatment of patients with peripheral neuropathy and the improvement of their quality of life.

Targeting Metastatic Breast Cancers by Alkaline Glucosodiene Molecules Via a Metabolic Pathway Phase I Clinical Trial

The diverse group of breast tumors known as triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) which is lethally and deadly type of breast cancer and insensitive to endocrine therapy and HER2-targeted therapy because it lacks the expression of estrogen, progesterone, and human epidermal growth factor receptors TNBC makes up almost 15% of all invasive breast cancers, and of all breast tumor subtypes, it has the worst overall survival and the highest rate of metastatic occurrence. Cytotoxic chemotherapy is the main established systemic therapy for early and advanced TNBC disease at the moment because there is no authorized targeted therapy. Despite the fact that chemotherapy greatly improves clinical outcomes for TNBC patients, recurrence rates are still high and TNBC cancers frequently develop chemotherapeutic drug resistance ). In light of the few available therapy choices, so few choices for this subtype of breast cancer, and many cases are resistant to chemotherapy and recurrent and with a risk of high metastasis from previous literature and many experimental studies, the target of glucose environment is a promising weapon against this deadly type of breast cancer so glucose deprivation from tumor cells may cut the glucose entry as fuel to these cancer cells so this study uses a substitute energy fuel by using alkaline glucosodiene which is chemically invented by Maher M.AKL

Adapted physical activity (APA) was recognized as a non-drug therapy by the French Health Authority (HAS) in 2011. Very few studies have examined the efficiency of APA programs during the active phase of treatment in cancer patients. The investigators assumed that non-drug therapy such as APA could improve the quality of life and reduces health costs. The main objective of this study is to assess the efficiency of a standardized APA program, as compared to conventional management including simple recommendations for the practice of physical activity in women in phase active breast cancer treatment.

OPTI - DOSE: Optimal Dosing of Oral Anticancer Drugs in Older Adults

The study hypothesis is that a lower starting dose of anticancer tablet treatments can lead to better treatment tolerability in older patients, while the benefits of treatment can be the same. The trial population consists of 30 patients aged 65 years or older, who are starting treatment with one of these anti cancer tablet treatments: pazopanib, olaparib, lenvatinib, sunitinib or palbociclib. The control group (half of the participants) will be treated with the standard-of-care, the interventional group will start with the lowest dose of the anti cancer tablets as described in the drug label. The dose will be increased every two weeks in case of good tolerability. Results of this pilot study will be used to inform the design of the larger randomised phase 2 trial.

Acolbifene Versus Low Dose Tamoxifen for the Prevention of Breast Cancer in Premenopausal Women at High Risk for Development of Breast Cancer

This phase IIA trial compares the effect of acolbifene versus low dose tamoxifen in preventing breast cancer in premenopausal women at high risk for developing breast cancer. The usual approach for patients at increased risk for breast cancer is to undergo yearly breast magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) or ultrasound in addition to yearly mammogram. Premenopausal women at very high lifetime risk for breast cancer (greater than 50%) can consider preventive removal (mastectomy) of both breasts. Premenopausal women age 35 or older with a prior diagnosis of atypical hyperplasia, lobular carcinoma in situ, or an estimated 10-year risk of greater than or equal to 3% or estimated 10-year risk of greater than or equal to 2-5 times that of the average woman (depending on age) may be advised to consider five years of standard dose tamoxifen. Standard dose tamoxifen is four times the dose used in this study. Estrogen can cause the development and growth of breast cancer cells. Acolbifene and tamoxifen blocks the use of estrogen by breast cells. This study may help researchers measure the effects of acolbifene and low dose tamoxifen on markers of breast cancer risk in mammogram imaging, breast tissue, and in blood samples.

Remotely Delivered, Culturally Tailored Weight Loss Interventions Among Latina Breast Cancer Survivors

This clinical trial evaluates a remotely delivered, culturally tailored weight loss interventions in Latina breast cancer (BC) survivors. Cancer is the leading cause of death among Latinos, and among Latinas, BC is the leading cause of cancer death. An estimated 80% of Latinas in the United States have overweight/obesity, which is associated with poorer BC outcomes. However, few, if any, effective interventions exist to promote and maintain weight loss in Latina BC survivors. The development of an adaptive program that provides survivors the support they need, as opposed to what is typically available, is essential to reducing persistent inequities in cancer survivorship.
