The Effect of Yoga and Laughter Yoga on Increasing the Psychological Resilience of Mothers

Objective: The study will carried out in a randomized controlled trial to determine the effect of yoga and laughter yoga on increasing the psychological resilience of mothers with their babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Method: The research will be carried out with mothers whose babies are treated in the neonatal intensive care unit. Mothers will be divided into three groups as yoga (n=20), laughter yoga (n=20) and control (n=20) by block randomization method. Research findings; Data Form will obtained by using "Introductory Characteristics Form", "Depression, Anxiety, Stress Scale (DASS-21)" and "Psychological Resilience Scale".

Effects of Xiangshao Granules on Anxiety in Menopausal Women.

Symptoms of anxiety are prevalent during the menopausal transition and early postmenopause. These symptoms are mainly improved by anti-anxiety agents, which are associated with some adverse effects including dizziness, sleepiness, and constipation and not all patients respond to currently available pharmacological treatments, thus novel agents with fewer side effects are needed. Some studies have shown that traditional Chinese medicine can alleviate menopausal symptoms safely and economically, and improve quality of life. Xiangshao granules reportedly have good curative effects on menopausal symptoms and premenstrual syndrome and exhibit good safety. This study aim to evaluate the efficacy and safety of Xiangshao granule in improving anxiety state of women with menopause syndrome.

the Role of Technology in Elderly Patients

Starting from December 2019, the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Corona Virus-2 (SARS-COV-2) disease spread rapidly from China into the world, with about two Mio cases confirmed around the world. In Switzerland, more than 26'000 cases have been confirmed so far, and health authorities declared in March the needs for social isolation and have banned visits to hospitalized patients and to nursing home residents. Loneliness and isolation is a significant concern for the elderly patients as well as for their families that may significantly affect physical and mental health in both. SILVER aims to evaluate the role of programmed video calls with families: - on mood, anxiety, fear of death and pain perception in patients hospitalized or in nursing homes during the SARS-COV-2 pandemic. - in relieving the familiar caregiver anxiety and fear of death of others - in relieving the professional caregiver anxiety. SILVER is an international study involving both acute, rehabilitation geriatric units and nursing homes; we will enroll all the patients present in the participating centers. Patients will be allowed to chose between video and phone calls, the following dimensions will be evaluated: - Delirium risk: using the Confusion Assessment Method (CAM) - Mood: using the 5-item Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS) - Anxiety: using the Clinical Anxiety Scale (GAS). - Fear of death (self and others): using the Collett-Lester scale. In parallel, health professionals and family caregivers will be evaluated for anxiety at baseline and every week after intervention set-up by the Clinical Anxiety Scale (CAS). Family caregivers will also be evaluated with the fear of death scale (sub-scale fear of death of others). Finally, to evaluate the appreciation for video call communication in patients and caregivers we will use a Likert scale.

The Effects of the Safe and Sound Protocol on PTSD Symptoms and Anxiety

The Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) is a passive acoustic intervention that is designed as a "neural exercise" to promote efficient regulation of autonomic state. Prior research has shown that the SSP can improve autonomic function, auditory hypersensitivities, and emotion regulation in individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders. This observational pilot study is being conducted to establish methods for an upcoming randomized controlled trial to test the utility of the SSP for trauma treatment. This study will enroll clients at the Spencer Psychology clinic who are set to take part in SSP under the supervision of their therapist. Because the therapists have participated in the design of the protocol and will participate in data collection and analysis, SSP will be considered a research procedure. In addition to taking part in SSP, subjects complete a set of questionnaires and have their pulse measured before starting the SSP intervention, after having completed 2/5 hours of the SSP, one week after completing all 5 hours of the SSP, and one month after completing the SSP intervention. The investigators will also pull relevant information from Spencer Psychology's medical records to document diagnosis, track client progress during study, and augment self-reported demographics. Clients who are receiving psychotherapy but not the SSP will be recruited as a comparison group.

Electrical Vestibular Nerve Stimulation (VeNS) as a Treatment for Anxiety

Anxiety is known to be one of the most common health concerns in in the general population, and the most common mental health issue, and has been associated with several health consequences. Medications are known to be effective, and currently serve as the primary treatment for anxiety but comes with a risk of adverse effects. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT-1) has also been shown to be effective and safer in the treatment of anxiety but presents its own limitations such as the time, cost, and training required. The relationship between vestibular stimulation and anxiety continues to be explored, however its usefulness in the treatment of anxiety is still unknown. Vestibular stimulation itself has been shown to be safe across multiple populations. If vestibular stimulation is shown to be effective in the treatment of anxiety, it could serve as a safer alternative to medications. It could also require less cost, time, and training than CBT-1, providing a treatment option that is not only safe and effective, but broadly available to the general population. It also could present an alternative intervention for patients who are non-responsive or refuse medication. Consequently this trial seeks to evaluate the efficacy of non-invasive electrical vestibular nerve stimulation as a method of improving sleep quality and quantity, as compared to a sham control, in patients newly diagnosed with anxiety.

Virtual Reality Distraction for Anxiety (VR-IMAGINE)

Background: Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has been known for almost forty years to generate fear and anxiety. Children may become restless during scanning, which results in movement artifacts requiring the MRI to be repeated with sedation. Very few studies seemed to have looked at the effect of virtual reality (VR) on anxiety in children scheduled for an MRI and how to identify which children are more responsive. Objective: The aims of this study are three-fold: 1- to develop an algorithm of predictability based on biofeedback; 2- to address feasibility and acceptability of a pre-procedural immersive VR (IVR) game preparation for anxiety management during MRIs and 3- to examine the efficacy of IVR game preparation compared to usual care for the management of procedural anxiety during MRIs. Methods: This study will first consist of a field test phase with 10 participants, aged 7 to 17 years old, to develop a predictive algorithm for biofeedback solution and to address the feasibility and acceptability of the research. Following the field test, a RCT will be completed using a parallel design with two groups: 1) experimental group (pre-procedural IVR game preparation), 2) usual care group (standard care as per radiology department's protocol) in an equal ratio of 49 participants per group for a total of 98 participants. Recruitment will be done at CIUSSS de l'Est de l'Île de Montréal, Quebec, Canada. The experimental group will receive a pre-procedural IVR game preparation (IMAGINE) that offers an immersive simulation of the MRI. Participants will complete a questionnaire to assess the acceptability, feasibility and incidence of side effects related to the intervention and the biofeedback device. Data collected will include socio-demographic, clinical characteristics and measures of procedure related-anxiety with the French-Canadian version of the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory for Children (STAIC-F) and the Child Fear Scale (CFS, 0-4). Physiological signs will be noted and include heart rate, skin conductance, hand temperature and muscle tension. Measures of healthcare professionals, parents, and participants' level of satisfaction will also be collected. Analyses will be carried out according to the intention-to-treat principle, with a significance level (α) of 0.05. Conclusions: Our study provides an alternative method for anxiety management to better prepare patients for an awake MRI. The biofeedback will help predict which children are more responsive to this type of intervention. This study will guide future medical practice by providing evidence-based knowledge on a non-pharmacological therapeutic modality for anxiety management in children scheduled for an MRI.

Effect Of Musıc Therapy On Anxıety Levels In COVID-19 Pandemıc

This study, which has a randomized controlled experimental design, was planned to determine the effect of music therapy on the anxiety level of family health personnel working in primary health care centers during the COVID-19 pandemic. The study will be carried out between 4 August and 31 December with nurses, midwives and other family health personnel working in family health centers. Participants will be randomized into two groups, a control and an intervention group. Individuals in the intervention group will receive 15 minutes of music therapy once a day for 5 days. No intervention will be made in the control group. Data Descriptive Question and State-Trait Anxiety Inventory online design; It will be collected on the Google Forms platform.. Data analysis will be done using SPSS 20 program.
