C-STRESS: A Mental Health App for College Students With Depression

The goal of this pilot study is to examine the feasibility of the prototype C-STRESS app with 3 college students from UCI with clinically significant depression (scored ≥ 10 on the Patient Health Questionnaire-9). The main question it aims to answer is: whether the prototype C-STRESS is useful for college students to manage daily stress and depression symptoms. Participants were asked to use the C-STRESS app daily for 6 weeks to participate in CBCT lessons, watch guided meditation videos, complete short reflective exercises, and engage with other content provided in C-STRESS (i.e., attending drop-in sessions, journaling, completing mood and wellbeing check-ins, and reading educational articles on depression, anxiety, and stress). At the end of week 3 and 6, participants completed 6 online surveys (System Usability Scale, Technology Acceptance Model, Patient Health Questionnaire-9, General Anxiety Disorder-7, Health Related Quality of Life-4, and Brief-COPE) to assess C-STRESS's usability/feasibility and changes in depressive symptoms and coping styles over the study period.

The new professional profiles highlight the need to incorporate competences such as self-regulation, communication or growth mindset in the academia. Not only is this important for employability; a step further is needed. It's necessary to equip learners with knowledge, skills and attitudes that help them become agents of change and shape sustainable futures in our current complex society. Within the framework of an agreement signed between the University of Granada (UGR), Spain, and, one of the leading real state firms in Spain, Cívitas, a course and a parallel study have been launched that will provide research and training in these competences at a degree level. It is part of the Sustainable Human Development Training Pathway of the Vice-Rectorate for Equality, Inclusion and Sustainability. The main objective of the study is to test whether participating in a competence-based course can improve students' cognitive, emotional and personal traits as well as academic performance. Together with this main purpose, the present study also aims to compare the effects of two competence-based programs on the students' ability to improve specific aspects of cognition, emotional intelligence, creativity or academic performance among others. Both programs involve training sustained attention and an accepting and open attitude though they differ in several aspects of their methods, intention and aims. Drawing conclusions from the research and outcomes, pedagogies which are best suited to develop theses competences at the Higher Education level will be suggested. Assessment and certification of this kind of competences will also be proposed.

Benzodiazepines or related drug (BZDR) are consumed for hypnotic or anxiolytic purposes in most cases. The consequences of BZDR are multiple with an increased risk of daytime sedation, balance disorders leading to falls and fractures, cognitive disorders, road accidents and dementia. Given their comorbidities, physiological changes, and multiple medications, the elderly are more at risk of suffering from BZDR adverse events. Interprofessional collaboration has shown efficacy in improving prescribing appropriateness and may affect patients outcomes positively. Morever, motivational interviews (MI) may reduce the extent of substance abuse compared to no intervention.

Perioperatively, patients experience an unnecessarily high level of side effects associated with their treatment. These side effects include nausea, severe pain, anxiety, and stress. Evaluating a Digital Peer Mentoring Platform With College Student Populations

The goal of this clinical trial is to test the acceptability, feasibility, and efficacy of MentorPRO, a novel application that connects mentors and mentees, among incoming college first-year students in a public university. The main questions it aims to answer are: - What is the acceptability and feasibility of the MentorPRO mentoring platform? - Does mentoring with MentorPRO demonstrate an impact on academic outcomes (i.e., GPA) and indices of wellbeing (i.e., mental health, connectedness, academic self-efficacy, and overall wellbeing) among a diverse sample of incoming or first year college students? Participants in the MentorPRO group will: - Use MentorPRO with their assigned mentors to communicate for 9 weeks about transitioning to college and completing a brief summer course at the university - Complete surveys about their opinions of MentorPRO All participants (regardless of group assignment) will: - Complete surveys about their mental health and overall wellbeing - Work with a mentor throughout participation in a brief summer course at the university

Chatbot Intervention for Anxiety and Depressive Symptoms in Young Adults

This clinical trial compares the effects of using an artificial intelligence based therapy chatbot and a self-help book to lower anxiety and depressive symptoms. The therapy chatbot (named Fido) is an application delivering support for mental health via a conversation-like interface in a highly inflected language (Polish). The team will recruit young people (aged 18-35) who currently struggle with anxiety and/or depression. The participants will use the chatbot or self-help materials for two weeks. Then, the researchers will check if using the chatbot or the book improved several aspects of mental health and the quality of life. Moreover, they will compare the groups for any differences in outcomes.

The Effect of Virtual Reality Application on Pain, Anxiety and Satisfaction of Patients

Today, common and easily accessible android-based smart devices capable of running virtual reality are used. The image is obtained using a combination of framed simple optical lenses that hold the phone at a fixed distance perpendicular to the user's gaze direction. The working system of three-dimensional resuscitation devices is based on stereographic vision properties. After the relevant applications are installed on the smartphone, the device divides the screen into two, and thanks to the acquisition of different images for the right and left eyes, the illusion of the spatial existence of three-dimensional animated objects is obtained. The use of virtual reality application, which is used as a non-pharmacological method in different studies, has not been found in IUD (Intrauterine device) applications. This study was planned to examine the effect of virtual reality applications, which will distract their attention during the procedure, on the pain and anxiety levels experienced in women who underwent IUD in the septic area in Esenyurt Necmi Kadıoğlu State Hospital.
