Evaluation of Virtual Reality Glasses Use During Inhaler Treatment in Children

Virtual reality (VR) glasses are technological devices that are often used in medical fields recently and are seen as suitable for distracting children. In the last few years, many studies have been conducted to facilitate pediatric patients against painful or frightening medical procedures. For uncomfortable procedures, distracting the child's attention is seen as the most important point. VR technology has been used for procedures such as burn cases, tooth extraction, intramuscular injection, intravenous cannula, lumbar puncture, and the results of the research have been found to be satisfactory. Using VR glasses alone or in combination with standard care is effective in reducing pain and anxiety. So far, there is no study in the literature on distraction with VR during inhaler treatment in pediatric patients. Children cannot receive inhaler treatment efficiently due to reasons such as restlessness, crying, and pulling the mask during inhaler treatment, and their hospital stay is prolonged. In this study, the investigators planned to compare the patients who received inhaler treatment with VR glasses with the patients who received treatment without the aid of any device in terms of treatment compliance. Thus, the investigators aimed to make the inhaler treatment more comfortable with VR technology.

M-O-M-S on the Bayou: Implementation of an Intervention for Mental Health in Pregnancy

Disasters have negative effects in the short term (physical trauma, adverse environmental exposures, and unstable housing) and the long term (relocation, changes in family functioning, and negative economic effects), which interact with social determinants to worsen health among the most vulnerable women, infants, and communities. Trauma and severe stress are directly linked to pregnancy complications, and raise blood pressure during pregnancy, alter stress hormones, and increase vulnerability to infection, all of which predispose to reduced fetal growth and preterm birth. Disasters also worsen mental health, and depression during pregnancy and postpartum, for instance, is associated with worse physical health during pregnancy, maternal impairment, poorer quality parenting, negative child behavior, and poorer infant cognitive development.The goal of this intervention is to improve mental health in pregnant women living in a disaster-affected region. The main questions this intervention aims to answer are: - Assess the implementation outcomes (acceptability, adaptation, adoption, feasibility, fidelity, and sustainability) of a pilot intervention in a disaster recovery environment. - Assess the effectiveness of the M-O-M-S pilot intervention in a disaster recovery environment. The study will recruit pregnant women in areas that have experienced a natural disaster. Women will be recruited in early pregnancy and attend a series of classes on the cognitive and relationship changes of pregnancy and motherhood, and mental preparation for labor, led by a "mentor," a mother who has experienced pregnancy, labor, and motherhood.

The goal of this clinical trial is to learn about the effects of a milk-based dietary supplement in adults that report regular and frequent episodes of intermittent anxiety. The main question it aims to answer is: Can this extract be used to reduced symptoms of intermittent anxiety? Participants will consume the milk-based dietary supplement every morning for 4 weeks and each week they will fill out 3 different questionnaires.

The diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer (BC) can drastically affect the quality of life of patients with this disease by causing symptoms of vasomotor disorders, insomnia, depression and anxiety. Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is a program dedicated to fostering complete awareness in the present in order to accept the moment, thereby reducing stress. Previous studies have shown that MBSR benefits patients with chronic conditions such as mood disorders and chronic pain, as well as patients with BC. However, its usefulness in Mexican patients has not been previously studied.
