Filter by:The simulation-based learning method causes a sense of anxiety in students. Studies have shown that progressive relaxation exercises have a positive effect on anxiety. This study, will be tried to determine the effect of the progressive relaxation exercises applied to the students before the simulation training on anxiety, student satisfaction, and stress. This study is an intervention study with a pretest-posttest control group. Before the study, Personal Information Form, State Anxiety Scale, Student Satisfaction and Self-Confidence in Learning Scale, Perceived Stress Scale for Nursing Students, and Students' Vital Findings Evaluation Form will be applied. After applying progressive relaxation exercises to the intervention group, they will be taken to the simulation laboratory. The control group will be taken to the simulation laboratory without any intervention. After the simulation application, the scales will be re-applied and the vital signs of the students will be measured again.
The goal of this clinical trial is to test the efficacy of a blended format (i.e., a combination of face-to-face and online sessions into one integrated treatment protocol) of the Unified Protocol for Transdiagnostic Treatment of Emotional Disorders in Children (UP-C) in a sample of children aged between 7 and 12 years with a primary diagnosis of an anxiety disorder or with clinically significant levels of anxiety. The main questions it aims to answer are: - Is the proposed intervention (named Emotion Detectives In-Out) feasible and acceptable among Portuguese children with anxiety disorders and their parents? - Is the Emotion Detectives In-Out intervention as effective as an evidence-based intervention for children's anxiety disorders in reducing anxiety symptomatology and changing secondary outcomes? - What are the key predictors of adherence to the Emotion Detectives In-Out intervention? - What are the key predictors of treatment outcomes? Participants (children and one parent/legal representative) will: - Participate in an initial interview with a clinical psychologist, who will assess if children and parents meet eligibility criteria. - Complete an assessment protocol before, during, and after the intervention, as well as three months later. - Be randomly assigned to one of the two conditions: experimental (Emotion Detectives In-Out) or active control (Coping Cat). - Participate in one of the two psychological interventions. Researchers will compare the experimental and control groups to see if the Emotion Detectives In-Out intervention is equally efficacious as the Coping Cat intervention.
The objective of this pilot randomized controlled trial is to evaluate the efficacy and acceptability of self-help forest bathing on depression, anxiety, and stress in the Hong Kong adult population. Prior to all study procedures, eligible participants will be required to complete an online informed consent form (with telephone support). Around 80 eligible participants aged between 18 to 65 years old with at least a mild level of depression, anxiety, or stress symptoms will be randomly assigned to either the self-help forest bathing intervention group (FB group) or the waitlist control group (WL group) in a ratio of 1:1. Participants in the FB group will receive forest bathing guidance via an in-house smartphone app. The WL group will be asked to maintain their typical activity in week 1-7. This group will receive the guide upon trial completion in week 8. The outcomes of the interest will include generalized anxiety symptoms, depressive symptoms, insomnia symptoms, wellbeing, health-related quality of life, functional impairment at baseline (week 0), immediate (week 7), and 1-month post-intervention assessments (week 10). Treatment credibility and acceptability will be collected at baseline and immediately after the intervention.
This study will determine whether selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRI) exacerbate opioid induced respiratory depression in patients initiating treatment for underlying conditions such as depression or an anxiety disorder. Next to paroxetine which has been evaluated in a previous study in healthy volunteers sertraline, citalopram and escitalopram will be evaluated with regards to its influence on opioid induced respiratory depression.
The goal of this clinical trial is to learn about the effect of a sphenopalatine ganglion (SPG) block in anxious patients at electronic dance music festivals. The main question is: - Is an SPG block useful in reducing anxiety, in comparison to placebo? Participants will have lidocaine-soaked cotton tip applicator placed inside each nare for 10-minutes, or have a saline-soaked cotton tip applicator placed inside each nare for 10-minutes. Researchers compare the lidocaine-soaked intervention (SPG block) with the saline-soaked intervention (placebo) to see if it reduces anxiety in patients presenting at electronic dance music festivals with anxiety.
This study aims to compare the effectiveness of a standard mobile iPhone cognitive behavioral therapy program to a personalized mobile iPhone cognitive behavioral therapy program that introduces new skills over a shorter period of time. Participants will use the Maya app for two days per week, at least 20 minutes per day, for six weeks. Assessments will include a weekly check in with a member of the research team, questionnaires, and optional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and electroencephalographic (EEG) recordings at the beginning and end of the 6-week intervention. The investigators think that that the less burdensome personalized program will be just as effective at improving symptoms of anxiety and depression as the general program.
The purpose of this study is to test whether a single-dose of Epidiolex (cannabidiol) is associated with reduced psychological, physiological, and neuroimaging measures of anxiety in people diagnosed with social anxiety disorder (SAD).

The goal of this clinical trial is to validate the use of digital Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (Digi-ACT) in Hong Kong curative cancer patients with depressive and anxiety symptoms. The main questions it aims to answer are: - Can Digi-ACT reduce depressive or anxiety symptoms? - Can Digi-ACT improved health-related quality of life? - Is Digi-ACT an acceptable and feasible intervention for users? - What are the factors that influence the success of Digi-ACT? - Can the video journals used in Digi-ACT predict depressive symptoms? Intervention group participants will install the Digi-ACT mobile application and undergo a 3-4 week long intervention. They will have to fill out questionnaires at baseline, immediately after the intervention, and at three month follow up to measure depression and anxiety symptoms, health-related quality of life, acceptability of the intervention, and other process outcomes related to the intervention itself. Researchers will compare the outcomes with a group of participants that undergo a 3-4 week long period where they navigate a similar mobile platform that gives bi-daily psychoeducational videos that also fill out the same clinical questionnaires at baseline, post-intervention, and at three month follow up.
This study will consist in a randomized controlled clinical trial (RCT) to test the efficacy of a blended group transversal protocol (BLGr-TP) compared to a face-to-face group transversal protocol (FFGr-TP). The main aims of the study are the following: - To analyze the differential efficacy of the BLGr-TP versus the FFGr-TP for the treatment of emotional disorders in aspects of clinical measures, as well as in terms of retention and dropout rate and adherence. - To analyze the differential acceptability of the BLGr-TP versus the FFGr-TP for the treatment of emotional disorders. In addition, it is intended to carry out a study of mediators and moderators of the efficacy of both interventions. The established hypotheses in relation to the main goals are: - Both treatment modalities (FFGr-TP and BLGr-TP) will achieve improvements in the symptoms of emotional disorders, reflected in the scores of the clinical measures. - The BLGr-TP will show equivalent efficacy to the FFGr-TP. - The BLGr-TP will show an acceptability comparable to the face-to-face protocol. Both modalities will be well valued by the participants. - In both treatment modalities, the changes achieved are expected to be maintained over time (3, 6 and 12 months).
